I have been baking and eating cookies (peanut butter, tallhouse, chocolate chip, every chip, short bread, and some I forget the names of:p) all morning. Just what my gut needs. I thinnk by the end of the holidays I am going to require a longer reach jack..... Don P (not the intelligent one) Quote
greg g Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 Hey Don, we call our car Kate. It seems that if she doesn't start right up, further cranking of the starter reminds my wife of Katherine Hepburns laughter in her later days. Just put some chocolate chocolate chip cookie dough in the fridge. Lasagna is going in later. Quote
Rodney Bullock Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 Hey, I got a cake in the oven and mixing another batch for the next:) I can't wait. I even got dibs on licking the spoon:p I can't play with my cars so it's off to the store for more eggs. I still have not learned to make pies I guess I have time to learn. There is a group of guy's that go on a pie run on xmas morning They drive their hot rods, customs and originals. I don't think they will make it this year(snow) I remember some years ago we used to go over near Joe Flanagan to the Shoney's Boy I miss that joint:D I got the record player turned up with 'Sade" playing it's a great day! greg g Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 Bullock, you are such a SMOOTH OPERATOR!!!! Pies are easy. Star out with the Pillsburry Crust Kits ( You can lear to make pie dough later) Fillings, dry fruitLike sliced apples, twice as high as the pan, sugar to cover the fruit, butter to dollop the sugar, some cinnamon, some nutmeg, a bit of clove and a pinch of salt. If your are using fruit with a lot of juice, you cook all the stuff together with a bit of water and cornstarch, before you fill the pie crust. Fold the top crust in half, psoition it over the unfold it, seal the edges, cut a couple slots in the top crust 350 till the top crust is nice and brown. it the edges of the crust brown more than you like them cover them with foil. If you wan get fancy, make a thin eggwash, add some sugar and brush it on the top crust. If you don't like top crust or you screw it up trying to get it on, mix up equal parts butter flour and brown sugar to make a crumble top like apple crisp, or if you do get the top right and want to you can sprinkle this mix on top of the top crust. Why do you think people use the expression easy as PIE????? Quote
greg g Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 And while your pies are baking put your feet up on the Hassok. Quote
Don Coatney Posted December 24, 2009 Report Posted December 24, 2009 I am off to the store to buy more sugar and flour. Quote

greg g Posted December 25, 2009 Report Posted December 25, 2009 His wife goes down To the Scollay Square station Every day at quarter past two And through the open window She hands Charlie a sandwich As the train comes rumblin' through. Quote
Don Coatney Posted December 25, 2009 Report Posted December 25, 2009 There is now a "Charlie Card" available for the Boston Transit System. The CharlieCard is named after a fictional character in a folk music song often called "Charlie on the MTA" (or, more simply, "M.T.A."), which concerns a man trapped forever on the Boston subway system (then known as the Metropolitan Transit Authority, or MTA) because he can't pay the fare required to exit. Poor old Charlie. Quote
