lol. Its all good, "frame and body" is gateway steel to all Mopar.

Watch out guys, you might get like me and become an incurable Moparman.:D

Smallblockjunkie: Awesome build. Been following it close. How 'bout a "youtube" type video of the frame mods before the body goes on?

Hey REG! Got 1.5 ton fenders?

HEY! Who left the gate open?....A "car" guy got in here!

lol. That's a heck of a shoe horn job Andy. Did you fit that block in there yourself in 73' or did you find it that way?

Thats a good looking 230, I think I've seen that picture before.

I bought the car for $15.00 in 1971, stuck the 318 in in 1973, it has a cast iron Torqueflite, modified mid 60's Valiant console & shifter to the push button auto cable, 4 wheel discs, rack & pinion, modified valiant column, bucket seats, 2" wider rear guards, etc, etc.......apart from the vinyl top(to cover some flat spots) installed in 1975 and the chrome plating I have done everything, modifying, mechanical, bodywork, paint, my mother did the upholstery also...........starting to show its age now.........the paint is 31yrs old.........lol........andyd

Really? a Semi-Hemi...very cool. Can you post pictures of it in place? Poly's were 62-65 If I remember....

And I think Reg meant to say 318...not 381. Am I right?

I'd also be interested in photos of this swap. Anything would be good. The more the better.

The trucks got the 318 poly in 59. In 57 and 58 they were 315 Poly's. 56 was a 269, 55 was a 259, and 54 was the first truck V8 which was a 241 poly.

1954 241 poly

1955 259 poly

1956 269 poly

1957-58 315 poly

1959 318 poly

Does this look right? What did the cross member look like 1954?

Guess I'll be digging through the internet tonight.

That looks right Tim. The cross member looked the same for the L6 as it did for the V8 If I'm remembering correctly. It was moved back toward the firewall for the 8's though cause they were shorter than the 6's. I discovered that the hard way once during an engine transplant in a 1960 1/2 ton.

This is the only picture I found of a 54 engine bay....answers a few questions for me. So were all small blocks poly's? or were there other designs during the 50's (other than the hemi's). I noticed a 277 small bock in there somewhere.

Ok.....

Polysherical head engines (Dodge,Chrylser, De Soto) and the A engines (Plymouth) over lap but had different heads and different displacement numbers. The A engine developed into the LA engine (64-92). The 277 was the first A engine use by Plymouth in 56.......something like that, not trying to write a book here, but interesting just the same.

Did my reading at http://www.allpar.com/mopar/poly.html

48dodger, I finally have Dodge running gear coming out of the wood work. I just picked up a 78 w150 with a 360 4spd w/transfercase. Also two 440's w/727 trans, front axles and rearends out of motor homes!

Now time to cut out that chev 350 and stuff. I will keep the axles though.

Unfortunetly that's the only pic I took. He lives not far from me, but the only time I've seen that truck was at the Iola show a couple of years ago. If I ever see it again I'll get more photos.
