  1. Yep! GM calipers...and metric hardware on some of the stuff! LOL Mike
  2. It was easier for me to move the shocks than mount the calipers to the rear. I have full lock to lock turning radius. Thanks for the interest! Mike
  3. Finally was able to get back to my gasser replica project. Got side tracked for a while with my Sweptline but wanted to update on what I've gotten done recently. Installed the brakes using the kit for discs I got from Rusy Hope. I had a bunch of little problems with the kit but nothing major. The biggest problem was moving my shock mounts to the rear of the axle rather than the front because of the interference with the brake calipers. Had to do some grinding on the mounting bracket to allow the caliper to clear so it could be mounted on the bracket. The hoses recommended for the kit were too short so I built a bracket to mount the brakes lines. Looks pretty good so I'm pretty happy. More as the build progresses. Mike
  4. Thnak you. Yes, it was an old email from him that I tried to reply to but after it got returned I put my old brain to work and after a severe head ache I was able to figure out what to do! Just needed a little judious grinding to allow clearance on the GM calipers. One side done now and the other side tomorrow! Mike
  5. I tried to send a message to olddaddy about the disc brake kit I bought from him several years ago and just now got around to installing. Got my email returned. Anyone have a new one for him? Thanks. Mike
  6. The Pertronics unit I used came with a replacement plate for the distributor so as a spare I carried the original plate complete with new points and capacitor so if I had a problem a 10 minute job to switch plates. Never had a problem in the 15 years I drove the truck and my buddy that I sold the truck too is still running the original Pertronics without any probems. Going on 20 years now. Mike
  7. The reason for pressurized systems was to raise the boiling point of water. Wasn't needed back in the day! A thermostat is used so the engine can come up to operating temp sooner. Different temps are for different purposes. Mike
  8. My sig has a link to my build of a 49 B1C. I'm installing a 350 Mopar engine (first of the B blocks) and 727 tranny and have some pics of what I did to make the engine fit. Lots of cutting and welding to make things strong enough. You might get some inspiration and maybe figure out a better way to make the change. Good luck! Mike
  9. For those that were curious, I thought a long time before deciding to go with the original steering box. The original theme was to build a gasser replica that looked like some one went behind the barn and dug out whatever they could so they could go racing. Won't be doing a lot of driving so decided to keep it as simple as it would have been back in the day. That can always be changed easily if I need to as I get older! Mike
  10. Was going to post a pic of my set up but can't figure out how to do that. Even checked the search bar. Oh well. You can find it in my signature if you'd like. Mike
  11. Both of you guys should remember the 2 most important things to know to have a long marriage. 1. "Yes Dear." 2. "I'm sorry, it's all my fault!" You're welcome. Mike :D
  12. I bought a new one at NAPA for $135. Used ones are available at any halfway decent wrecking yard. Makes a world of difference in clearance. Good luck! Mike
  13. Did you re-adjust the points after a few miles to compensate for point wear block break in? The points might be a little close. Good luck. Mike
  14. The guy that runs it is Robin. He has sweptlines and started the business with those parts first then expanded in the pilothoust era. Really great guy and haven't heard of any problems with the site. I ordered some parts for my 70 D100 and got them with no problems at all. Good stuff too! He also sponsors a Sweptline cruise in the Denver area every September. I'm going next year! Mike
