greg g Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 A stress test last week, showed I had a blockage forming in one of my heart arteries (again). So not wanting to spin a bearing, I spent today in the cardiac cath lab getting an angioplasty and another stent inserted. I guess I'm up to 4 now. But should be good to go for another 50 K or so. Its a pain getting old, but I'm glad the folks who work these things have thier $#!+ togehter. Light duty till the weekend. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted October 21, 2009 Report Posted October 21, 2009 Its good to hear that you can handle that sort of thing and come out of it so fast. Take it easy and enjoy the down time. Quote
greg g Posted October 21, 2009 Author Report Posted October 21, 2009 Well it was about 45 minutes, and then 6 hours of waiting around to be sent home. Of course during that time they were moitoring vitals and checking for leaks......... Quote
Dennis Hemingway Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Its good to hear that your doing well. Now do what the Doctor says, and get better. Dennis:cool: Quote

Normspeed Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Have a fast recovery Greg. Good that modern medicine has things like this procedure to offer. Isn't that the same procedure that David Letterman had a few years back? Quote

1949P17BC Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Greg, leaks and drips are common things these days!!! No more salt potatoes and now no more St. Louis Pork steaks Quote
greg g Posted October 22, 2009 Author Report Posted October 22, 2009 Thanks gentlemen. The activity restriction is so that the place where they put the catheder into my arm won't pop open and start bleeding. The ticker is in the same shape it was in before. The procedure was to prevent a problem down the road. So it looks like if the pattern holds true I should be good for 5 more years. Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Ahh, good old preventive maintenance. Glad it was nothing more serious, Greg. Take it easy and you'll be back at it soon. Quote

daddyo23 Posted October 22, 2009 Report Posted October 22, 2009 Glad you're o.k. and they're taking care of it now rather than later when it could be more serious. I just saw a heart Doc and he was talking about doing a procedure where they go in and sear closed one path that the electrical pulses start "jumping". I have a situation where the elec. pulses go the wrong way. The best way I can describe it is it's like a cracked plug wire. The voltage "jumps" across the heart and instead of pushing the blood all the way down and it pools in the top half of the heart. But, enough about that. Heal well and I'm glad they took care of it for you. Wayne P. Quote
