windsor8 Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 Its just a little over two weeks now until the Hershey Fall Meet. Is anyone here going? I first attended in 1973. Don't really need anything in particular but I just enjoy going. Quote
Frank Elder Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 Just had one with almonds..just kidding, I've never been, is it as great as it sounds? Quote
windsor8 Posted September 27, 2009 Author Report Posted September 27, 2009 Hershey is the "Mother of swap meets". When you go have your hiking boots broken in. When it rains and it usually does the smell of chocolate permeates the air. Quote

I should have mentioned that Hershey chocolate is now made in Mexico Edited September 27, 2009 by Don Coatney Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 I was planning on going - but other things came up during the summer. So, will consider it for next year instead. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 no, will be rather busied out here in GA..but I'd be pleased if you sent me a chocolate bar..one day I hope to make this great event.. Quote
Skrambler Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 Can't wait to go! Even though it marks the end for nice weather here in the N.E. I'm thinking sunny and 65 degrees! Now that everything in on black top (except some of the green field) I'm leaving my wadeing boots at home, and bringing more aspirin for my aching leg joints! Quote
1940plymouth Posted September 27, 2009 Report Posted September 27, 2009 I have been there twice, first time was in '99, the again in '01. I was able to find a NOS front passenger side fender for my Plymouth at 75 dollars:) Quote
Oldguy48 Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 I hope to attend, but have to wait and see what's going on for that weekend. It seems that finding time for that sort of thing has been very difficult of late. It's been tough finding time to work on the P15. Frustrating:eek: Quote
JohnS48plm Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 I'll be at Hershey ready to walk and hopefully pick up some bargains. JohnS Quote
desoto1939 Posted September 28, 2009 Report Posted September 28, 2009 I will be going to Hershey and this willbe my 22 consecutive year. I attended when we still ahd the dirt fields and then the liquid sunshine that turned the aisles in to muddy paths and your boots would get stuck. After they paved the lots it became harder on your feet and if it gets warms the heat from the asphalt can be felt. I go on Thursday and friday so if you are there you can rech me on my cellphone 484-431-8157. It is like to to Mecca for all of you car lovers, You never know what you are going to find and it has taken me some year to find teh right part for my 39 Desoto. You can also contact me me at Desoto1939@aol.com rich Hartung;) Quote
greg g Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 Went 2 years ago after a 15 year absence, looking for studebaker stuff. Not a lot there that I found. Quote
desoto1939 Posted September 29, 2009 Report Posted September 29, 2009 Greg, i have been finding the same for my 39 Desoto but we all have to remember that there was and stil is a limited amount of parts and we are counting on people to help find and vendor these parts. It is the great needle in the haystack for some of us but you ahve to admit when you find the needle without getting stuck with the needle it turns out to be a great day for all of us. Hope you can make it to Hershey this year you never know what you are going to find. It took me 6 years to find a clock for my car. i saw a 39 Desoto coupe on one of the fields and it had the factory clock. The next day I was able to find two clocks for the car but if I had not seen the one in the car I would have walked right past the items. So Hershey is not alwasy about finding the part but also about seeing example in some of the cars,Its a great experiience just to see so many vendors in thsi hobby. rich Hartung desoto1939@aol.com Quote
JohnS48plm Posted September 30, 2009 Report Posted September 30, 2009 About 6 years ago I found a pair of nos P-15 rocker mouldings for $10 at a Ford vendor at Hershey. He didn't know what they were for and just wanted to get rid of them. JohnS Quote
