I know i am way late on commenting, but i found it oddly satisfying that you can use the key stock from the axle to do this job as well.

I went with a "satin" finish. Though because of the color people think it is primer, but the truck was oxidized red when I first got it so for me it is the right color.

Yes was too high for my 49 and as per specs provided above by Keven. 660 ohms in parallel should get it to the right range however.

I bought one of these but the ohms range was 32 to 235. Yours was 10 to 90 ?

You could try UShip ( uship.com ), basically you put in the information of what you want to ship and people bid against each other to take your load. That is how I got my donor truck from Michigan, cheaper than me getting it myself. Not sure how they handle heavy packages but they will know what they are picking up and I guess not bid if they could not handle it.

This has been a bit of a sticking point for me. I staked the pin but didn't get around to making a clip...until it happened again! Then I made a clip thing but it didn't work in the first position I put it, but has been holding since. Anyway, because of my nervousness around this issue AND so I could really engineer a better clip arrangement, I ordered another fuel pump. Well not to contradict greg g but it looks like SOME feedback made it to manufacturer because this is what i got. Looks like they just gooped some epoxy/fake metal/jb weld ? on there now to help to hold the pin in. Doesn't really make me feel better about the reliability I must say.

On mine it was a metal cover that snapped in. I don't know of a source for these.

So it has been about a year since Clementine went back on the road and last week I hit my first 1000 miles. I had replaced the speedometer ( had the grey face style from later models in there and I wanted the original black ). Since i disassembled to clean and check, I went ahead and set it to all zeros. Has been a pretty good 1000 miles (other than the mouse nest in the radiator debacle), several loads of wood hauled, many country roads like this one. So glad to be driving my old friend after about 20 years in storage. The Old Brass Knob I have kept almost everything the same, or as close to it as I could on the old truck but the one thing that is different is the shift knob. This knob is a solid brass knob from an apartment complex i worked at in the 70's that was built around the same time as my truck was built. I like it for a number of reasons, like how you can feel the gears turning and that satisfying click when you drop in after a perfectly timed double clutch. But what I really like is how it polishes up from regular use. When it was a daily driver that knob always just shined. When I reinstalled the transmission, I thought about polishing it up to start with but ended up just deciding to let it polish under use. I want to get to the point of keeping it shiny and in that way know that I am spending enough time in the truck. I put 150 miles on since I took this picture, hauling loads of oak for myself and friends, and it already is well on the way. There has been some talk on this forum about this UNVUN2 universal carburetor https://www.carburetion.com/Products/ProductDetails.aspx?part=UNVUN2 I like the fact it has adjustable main jet ( though realizing this can also be a knob we maybe shouldn't be able to turn ). I keep waiting for someone else to try one, has not happened yet, it might have to be me if I can get around to it.

Before I completely strip my donor truck JR I have to ask the forum how we feel about the demise or reuse of these old girls. I drove JR for 5 years before decommissioning to pull parts for Clementine and in the end the rust I found as I tore it down made me wonder how it was even staying together. I knew things were bad from the holes in the fenders to the crunch sound when I stepped on the running boards, but I didn't realize HOW bad until parts started coming off. I know it was the right thing, and I will be using the carefully cleaned and boxed spares for years to come, but I have to admit I feel a bit of sadness at the end. I also don't know what I would say to the previous owner. Makes it even sadder to note that the owner prior to the previous owner was an old fellow who kept the truck in storage until, well lets just say it was an estate title transfer. Pennsylvania rust made it pretty much unrestorable by the time I got it is my only defense.

Interesting thing to me, and maybe I am looking at it wrong, is that the ports are reversed between these two pictures ( that is which line goes to bottom of filter and which to top ). I am wondering which is correct. I had a diagram but i cannot seem to find it.

Well for what it is worth, I installed the clutch from my 52 parts truck with a 3 speed (which had been making no noise) into my 49 with a 4 speed. When I first started driving it, there was a strange noise when I let out the clutch at higher rpms (like you would do on a hill). After a few runs and a couple hundred miles it doesn't make that noise anymore. The noise was similar to yours but not quite the same, there was kind of a whine in addition, to me sounded like vibration. This last Saturday I tried to make it make that noise and it did not.

I unloaded my parts truck off a trailer just using the emergency brake, but it was running so I could get it rolling AND stop it.

Back in the 70's I worked for a while on a plateau above West Yellowstone Montana thinning lodgepole pine. As we got far enough into the unit that walking to the site from our camp was no longer feasible, Clementine worked as "crummy". I was thankful for two things: the springs on the gas tank and 1st gear on my 4 speed.

My 49 originally (when i got it), and now currently, went all the way to the rear under the tailgate. Exhaust shops seem to want to do the turn down right before they would have to make the hump, I have had a couple of exhaust set ups like that over the years. I should look at what Bunn says.

Picture from last year's show..... So a little story. For a while ( a few years back ) I was parking my parts truck up by the barn which is a place that is easy to see as a round the corner on County Highway Z. One lovely summer day a Studebaker pickup rolled down my driveway hauling a trailer that looked exactly like the box from my B2B. Apparently the owner had seen my truck parked up by the barn when he was driving by and decided to visit another old truck. Anyway this got me invited to his annual car show he holds at his place. Well I decided to go. As I rolled in I saw a sign for visitor parking to the right and straight ahead for show vehicles which I considered myself to be driving. Now my parts truck had been painted by brush and a lot of the primer colored paint was peeling showing the 60's era Dodge green underneath ( you know the kind of sea foam green ). There were rust holes in the fenders big enough to put your fist through and a few other things that made it, well, less than show quality. So I rolled up and as I turned the corner, I could see all the other "show cars" with high gloss beautiful paint jobs shining in the sun. Too late to turn around since everyone could see me roll in as soon as I came around the bend. Anyway JR did not get many looky loos unless you count the rolled eyes. But Pilot House was represented !! That was about 4 or 5 years ago and this year I will return with my beloved Clementine. Still not exactly show quality but a truck I poured my heart and soul into. Someday I will get to the BBQ in Clements, next year I hope to make Iola, but this year Pilot House will be represented again. Got the running boards installed this weekend and as promised, a picture. I forgot how much these boards tie everything together, stylistically and mechanically. Also was finally able to get the driver side fender properly aligned. Happy to be able to stand on those boards again, we have a lot of history.

Mine had a little metal cap that was kind of scrunched to stay on. Just noticed the other day that it fell off at some time. Need to check my parts truck to see if that one is still there otherwise i might use your method.
