  1. Getting close, my parts truck is nearly skeletal, and just need running boards, tail lights, and tailgate to get finished. Went with a cheapo pine bed to get it on the road and working again, will rebuild with oak and strips next year. Smaller tires on front than I will be running with, just so I can get in and out of short barn door.
  2. When I bought my parts truck it had a brand new master cylinder in it but brakes were not working. I put my 1949 master in it and then disassembled the "new" master. Turns out the far end cup/valve was cocked in the cylinder which is what made it fail. I don't think the casting on the cheaper masters ( around 100 ) is going to be a problem but poor workmanship could be. That said I will put a new kit into the "new" master and keep it as a spare.
  3. I just changed oil gauge and gained 5 psi so it is likely the gauge imho.
  4. yes same part i was talking about and as Merle says, you might be able to back off adjustment bolt enough so you don't have to remove that part completely.
  5. in case you were wondering, you can do this without any disassembly of brake pedal/yoke/ etc.
  6. You could just loosen and remove the yoke that attaches the clutch pedal to the clutch fork shaft. One bolt and a woodruff key. Then you can pull back fork as far as bell housing allows.
  7. I installed windshield glass with steering wheel in place with no problems. And this was on a 49 that has the steering wheel a LOT closer to the windshield than my '52. I guess I am not sure if the 51 is the same as the 49 but worked anyway with worse case scenario. Pretty sure the 51 has the dropped steering column with the newer dash layout.
  8. Does anyone have a recommendation on window channel? I ordered some quite a while ago that is not working well now that I am installing. Thanks
  9. I would like to ask the same about B1C running boards.
  10. NICE!
  11. My final post on this subject. After checking the Tractor Supply nuts, I did in fact get a box of 50 from clips and fasteners, they were perfect fit as well. https://www.clipsandfasteners.com/J-Nut-5-16-10-Tapping-Screw-Size-032-064-Range-p/a1907.htm Would be nice to have a source for the screws that mate with these, but i guess those can always be found and junkyards as they generally age well.
  12. Mine is always full too, unless I run out of gas it goes to about 1/3 full and is an easy way to tell there is something preventing fuel flow. I have had my truck for over 40 years, daily driver for 20 years of that, never changed the gasket and did not remove bowl until recently and never had a leak. So i am less inclined to worry about it now.
  13. I am in Wisconsin near Madison. I have 5 of each side lug bolts and 4 5 x 4.5 rims with tires mounted I could loan you if you want them and it is worth it to you to ship / return. Not sure which way you are going 160 miles in.
  14. My butt doesn't look any better than yours!
  15. Makes sense there would be this part, to funnel air through heater core instead of having cold air leak out sides when Air valve/flapper is open. I have never seen this though. I am unclear how air gets in the back of the heater core when air valve is closed though if this shroud is in place.
  16. Well the complete set up has a hose (duct) going from that valve to a scoop to the right of the radiator. Wally's post shows that end. I like the ground cable under the heater mounting bolt!
  17. i got a "body panel removal" tool set from Amazon that i used for "spudging" dang cheap
  18. I think the weed whacker original post was talking about the starter rope for the whacker, not the cutting string.... I put my windshield in this weekend, did not take a video cause I doubt i could do better than Brent on video OR instalation. Went in pretty easily as a complete unit (both sides) using clothes line. Only thing i would add is that a plastic spudger was probably the most essential tool on the job. I did have a helper on the inside though...
  19. just saw a post that shows the engine compartment side of the fresh air system. page 3
  20. Here is a picture of optional Heater controls and original bracket. "Air" is the cable that opened the butterfly valve on firewall to let air in from the scoop next to the radiator.
  21. " Put passenger side in first then slipped glass into rubber." So you took the drivers side glass out of the rubber, then installed the passenger side, then slipped drivers side glass into rubber? Trying to understand your magic. I just installed 3 rear glass pieces this weekend and will be tacking the windshield soon, will try to video but there might be a blooper reel....
  22. J-nuts from Tractor Supply are a perfect replacement, thanks Gaige and thanks to everyone that offered help with this.
  23. Yes thanks everyone. These seem like the ones in Lowes, Gaige, which is good, cause there is a TSC that is closer to me than Lowes. I will definitely take my bolt to TSC to check for fit, which is what I was looking for, rather than buying 50 and having them not work.
  24. I was able to do this, as long as floor boards were still out. But i am speaking from my experience with 49 not a 41. For the woodruff, i stuck on shaft and then slipped the adjustment yoke over that. Was enough room between the frame and the end of the shaft to do this.
  25. "for the next person looking for the fender j-nut and bolts 5/16-24. just got a package of them from AMK Products inc. kind of a bummer on the minimumorder but they are the correct thread" Yeah those are the extruded j nuts. 5/16 - 10 are likely the right ones for acme threads, I guess I should just suck it up and buy 50, then offer extras to whomever would like them.
