  1. Old Age Deficiencies. Common at my house.
  2. There is no better and accurate sales slogan than "Dodge dependability". The perfect and honest description.
  3. That's pretty much how mine acts. Whenever I have the dizzy out for some reason, I stick it back in about where I think it was, and crank on it for a few seconds. If it kicks back, I know to retard it about a half inch and it will usually fire and run so I can get a light on it and do it right. If it spins over easy and doesn't fire, I know to advance it about a half inch and it will fire up for me. Its pretty flexible about timing, I think about 10 degrees either way, which is quite a big window. You know, that's kind of why I like these old mopars, they aren't real particular, don't complain much, and go along way on a few bucks. My dad taught me that 55 years ago. Its still true.
  4. Last week in Bedford Pa. I think it said they opened in 1934 and is operated by the same family.
  5. I won't be happy till I have the whole thing !!!! I can dream, can't I?
  6. Get in line Jeff, I'm ahead of you.
  7. Cool, your picture shows my initials cast in your head !
  8. Uhhhhhhh, thanks, but no thanks.
  9. The engine I put in my car was missing its pointer also. Looking at pictures from the shop manual and the Motor's Manual, its possible to make a pretty accurate pointer out of sheet metal and attaching it to the timing cover with good ole JBWeld. Before I put the motor in, I used a straight edge to make an imaginary line through the center of the water pump hub and the center of the crank pulley. I made a mark where the pointer should be stuck on with the pointed end on the center line. Works good. If it was running well before you took the distributor out and you made a mark to put it back where it was, you should be ok. Its kind of like fixing something that isn't broke.
  10. That's a really nice looking car that deserves good attention. If it were mine, I would first take off the head and then remove the plugs. That way you can clean any threads that may be in the combustion chamber even though they aren't supposed to be, and you can clean out the carbon and make sure everything is in good shape for when you get on the road with it. A car like yours could last a long time after you have it, making you a sort of "caretaker". You're very fortunate to have such a good start, take care of it.
  11. It seems like you could do the same to resurrect radio vibrators, they work much the same way, only faster.
  12. Do like me, drive 725 miles and get two. Then go back home.
  13. Sometimes you can get a joint to take grease if you use the pressure gun while the suspension is at different angles. Try greasing with the weight off the front end and again while its sitting. Also turning right and left will allow grease to the kingpin fittings.
  14. Andy and the rest of us are concerned for your safety. The coils are quite strong and will cause damage and personal injury if not controlled. Study up on this suspension before you take anything apart to avoid an "explosive" situation.
  15. Here is what I use; Warren Gear Oil 90w GL1 http://warrenoil.com/ I get it at Auto Plus in Fredericksburg, VA. 400 Amaret St. $12.92/ gal.
  16. Linkage is stuck in park?
  17. Does that mean you changed the oil filter housing too?
  18. I just measured a tappet, use 1/2" on the body and 7/16" on the nut. You don't really need tappet wrenches, just so they aren't real fat cheap wrenches.
  19. Do I remember a hook from the bottom of the seat to the rod that held it up over the hump?
  20. That looks like a heckuva deal !
  21. I just changed my distributor condenser two days ago. It ran like the fuel pump could not keep up, and was also was hard to start on the battery, but would jump to life if I popped the clutch while coasting. A weak condenser will cause a weak spark.
  22. Congratulations. all your work is paying off in happiness! They are wonderful old cars aren't they?
  23. If you have the manual for it, check out the transmission/throttle linkage adjustment.
