  1. As far as horns go I always say, if ones good, four's better.
  2. Yeah, probly just an exhaust valve sticking. Needs driving.
  3. Ouch, I don't know where I could put bent horns. On the hood? What would the wife say then?
  4. I separated all four hubs and drums in 1995 and have been very happy. Brake work is a snap. You can inspect for peace of mind without any heavy lifting. No it does not cause a misalignment problem between the hubs and the drums.
  5. These are a pair of 48 P-15 horns on a 97 Buick LeSabre. They've been here since 98. There is a relay that gets its signal from the oem horns, which really can't be heard anymore. Loud? Well, of course they are, don't be ridiculous. I'm pretty sure theres no room for a pair on a Cobalt, though.
  6. Keep your stick on the ice, remember, we're all in this together. If the women don't find you handsome, they should at least find you handy. Have I ruined this thread yet?
  7. Joe, this is a picture of a washer standing on edge while the motor is running. The biggest problem I had doing it was the fan would blow it over.
  8. You would find nothing "humourous" if you heard Humoresque from me. I used that fiddle from 1950 to 1962. Considering how much I disliked it, its amazing that I still have it. There is no way to tell how old it is, or how many miles are on it, but it was a hard 12 years that I know of. I have a recording of my Dad playing that I can't listen to because it is so moving. We will speak no more of this.
  9. As you know, old rubber can't be trusted. Always use new rubber when you can get it. Get your minds out of the gutter, you, over there in the corner.
  10. Yes. The regulator functions by being grounded to the car body. Make sure your mount screws have a washer that will dig into the metal and that the metal where the regulator mounts is not painted.
  11. Geez James, that sounds horrible. I hope you heal up QUICK and get the use of your hand back. I know what it is to be stuck with one hand, its been five weeks since the table saw incident, and now they tell me it will always be sensitive. Wanna buy a slightly used violin?
  12. Theres a cleaning product out there called "Sof-Scrub". Its very much like toothpaste except the abrasive in it is round instead of gritty. It will do the cleaning job without making tiny scratch marks. I have used it to clean my wife's rings and it really makes the Sparkle Plenty. Remember her?
  13. Are you sure the battery positive post is the ground?
  14. Bob, what is your puppys name? I hope you don't mind, I have saved the picture because, well, because it's a neat picture. More intelligent looking than several people I have met today.
  15. I am sure I speak for all the non-Canadian members on this forum when I say HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU ALL. Indeed, we all have very much to be thankful for including the fellowship of this forum. Eat well and enjoy.
  16. I think there is a hole in the back of the block that feeds engine oil under pressure to the trans. That would have to be blocked off too. Am I remebering right?
  17. It may be that you got lucky. When the engine stopped, the breaker arm landed on a high point of the cam and the points were open. That means there was no crurrent flowing. Its as if you had turned the key off. You should buy lottery tickets as it seems this is your lucky day.
  18. Golf carts use 6 volt batteries too. They last longer on a charge.
  19. Of course you should o for it. You've got experience. You don't want to spend the next few years worrying about whats on the right side. Do it. Now. Go on, get out there.
  20. Thats the good news we've been waiting for. Great. Do what the Drs say and you'll be back in the garage in no time. Meanwhile, memorize your shop manual and answer our questions.
  21. The two batteries in my 93 chevy police car were on opposite sides connected by one long positive cable. No problem.
  22. Looks like somebody got it for $99. Dang.
  23. I've seen those chromed nut covers at truck stops in all sizes.
  24. Looks like a piece of inner tube to me.
  25. From the back of a 4 stick craftsman package: 1 Emery cake (black); for heavy cutting action for rust and scale removal from cast iron and steel. 2 White rouge; for stainless steel, cast brass and aluminum, chrome and nickle plated metals and other hard ferrous metals. 3 Tripoli; for buffing aluminum pewter, brass copper, wood, bone, plastics, painted surfaces 4 Red rouge; for bright luster on silver plate, gold, sterling, other precious metals. Apply new compound to the spinning wheel generously, using a wiping motion. Buff the item lightly, moving the item constantly to avoid burning. Do not press hard, let the wheel and compound do the work. Apply compound sparingly but frequently, as needed. Before changing from one compound to another, clean the wheel by "raking" with a sharp tool such as a screwdriver to remove old compounds.
