  1. Scan and print any size you want, hang in garage.
  2. Might try blowing back through the line to the tank in case the pickup tube filter is clogging up too.
  3. Any time your fuel pressure slowly drops after running for while you should suspect the gas tank is not vented properly. The pump will maintain good pressure until a vaccuum developes in the tank, because air cannot get in to replace the gas drawn out. A simple test is to remove the gas cap when the pressure drops. The pump will again be able to suck gas, you may even hear the air rush in when you loosen the cap. I hope this helps.
  4. It doesn't look like it would make any difference which way you put them in. The pads determine how far the box and plate are from the frame and the thinner part appears to be used only as a connector to hold the three pads in the correct position.

  6. Maybe you could post a picture of one of your freeze plugs. Its important how you expand then to make them seal. A dent in the middle won't do it. My best luck with them comes by using a half inch drive socket with a diameter about 3/8 smaller than the plug. Put a bead of permatex 2 around the edge of the hole before you set the plug into it. I put an old extension inside the socket so the flat side of the socket is against the plug. I hit it hard enough to flatten the plug which makes it spread out and seal tightly. That seems to work better for me than using the cup shaped plugs also. I once had a rubber plug pop out of a 318 and it domped all the coolant immediately. I consider them an emergency only, limp-in quick fix to be replaced at the first opportunity.

  9. Odd this should come up right now. Yesterday Louise and I said to each other, "Why not now, even though we don't need it"? So we went and bought a 2010 Buick Lucerne CXL Special Edition. We pick it up tomorrow. We agreed we didn't do this because we need to, we just want to. Norm knew what he was talking about. Again. Still. Thanks.
  10. I have a functioning PCV system on the car and it helps a lot. I have the 16' door open when its running and I still get the heavy odor. I must admit, though, that I kind of like that old smell. I could do with a little less of it, and my wife could do without it altogether.
  11. I have noticed the same thing! It seems to smell more oily than gasoliney. Yes, it seems stronger than regular exhaust gas, I can smell it on my clothes when I come in the house after playing in the garage.

  13. Since its a stovebolt, take off the valve cover and see if the valve moves when its running. If the valve is stuck, you,ll hear the rocker arm clacking even with the cover on. You could have a hole in your head gasket that leaks into the coolant or even out the side of the head without going into another cylinder.
  14. thats exactly right Bob, I have 205-70/15's and they are too small. My speedo is about 8 mph slow by the GPS. I will try 215's next. How close is your speedo?
  15. We have those too, but we call them jackasses.
  16. The condenser on the coil is to help stop the static caused by the points. They make an annoying popping noise that sounds like an audible tachometer. The condenser on the generator is there to stop the generator whine noise in the radio. If you don't have a radio, you don't need either one.
  17. It's there to prevent ignition static in your radio. Its a different value than the one in your distributor.

  19. You should be very proud of that job. Looks really good.
  20. Listen to the bell housing to make sure its not a loose flywheel, or maybe even the front hub. Its been my experience that if its a rod bearing, it won't last long. The knock will get louder really fast. Then bad things happen fast. A loose main bearing can knock for a long time. I drove home from Birmingham to Gary in a 60 Olds with a bad rear main, but it lasted quite a while after that.

  24. I find thats true for all kinds of electronics, including TV's, watches, radios, computers, phones, most everything that has no moving parts. Either they work good forever, or they show problems from day one.
