  1. Steve, there are no silly questions. All of us on here want to see these old Dodges running down the road, not sitting in an old shed or patch of weeds covered with dirt and full of mice. Ask away !
  2. Looks like a 39 Chevrolet.
  3. Trying to determine the differential ratio from a '54 half ton, 6cyl, 3sp. Numbers on housing are 1141544-53,. 83 Any help appreciated.
  4. Sounds like your Dodge has a replacement engine. Chrysler sold engines with blank serial no. bosses to rebuilders, who then stamped their own number on it. Some rebuilds had a triangular metal tag above the generator with info on it.
  5. Clarksville, you are in the right place for a accurate answer for any problem you have with your Chrysler. Good looking one ! Sounds like the head gasket to me, but Dodgeb4ya. Is correct, valves could be sticking open. Especially if car has not run in awhile. Good advice on getting the Motors and a shop manual. I think your car is in good hands, keep us posted with your progress.
  6. Valve clearance ( engine hot ) intake .006..... Exhaust .008 . 1939 D11
  7. Nice pics, bet you guys had a great time.
  8. Grizz, I'm in Iowa so I better be alert in case any of 'em are swimming this direction!
  9. Don't have to. It's not a 23 inch motor with offset rods.
  10. Most of the people I've known that put after market cams in an engine tend to be heavy on the throttle, and wind 'em up to feel the extra power and acceleration. These flatheads are torque engines and do not like high RPM's. If you put an Isky, or any cam other than stock in, keep the grind mild and don't continually wind it up. The hotter you make an engine, the shorter its life. These flatheads are best enjoyed for what they are. I love the way I can slow to 10 mph in high gear, ease into the throttle, and it just starts pulling. No bucking and jumping, it just goes. An important feature when they were made and the roads were poor.
  11. We won't see the splash from here, but I'm sure we will hear the cheering!
  12. OMG !!! I just found out San Antonio is in Florida, and now Houston is in Missouri ? That storm really was a DANDY !!!
  13. John, I knew south Texas had one hell of a rain event recently. But now San Antonio is in Florida ??? WOW !!! Nice Plymouth.
  14. I always wondered where Tinkerbell lived.
  15. Vaseline petroleum jelly can also be used. Rubbed it into my baseball glove in 1960. Made it very soft and waterproof. I spent some time rubbing it in and wiping surface dry when done. I still have that glove, and it's just as good as it was 57 years ago.
  16. Andy...now that you have found your corner, stay in it !!!
  17. What is the advantage of 41-52 upper control arms?
  18. What??? Liquor is a vice, hic.......I didn't know that. hic
  19. I do not see a members tab, don't know what I'm doing wrong.
  20. Too many high RPM's ???
  21. Radiator shell looks like Chrysler.
  22. That '55 Dodge is beautiful.
  23. Good advice from Knucke H. I would not start that engine again with that carb on it. All that gas is washing the oil off your cylinder walls and causing premature wear that is going to be immensely more expensive to repair than the price of a used Ball& Ball and a rebuild kit. I bought one yesterday at a swap meet for $20. Don't let your mistake turn into a bigger mistake. Get that carb off your engine.
  24. I articulated a few vehicles, but that was a long time ago.
