    Steele is definitely the most accurate reproduction of vintage glass rubber. Some of the other sources can be under or over sized, incorrect profile or poor quality material.

    I wouldn't use lacquer thinner that may actually strip or soften the existing paint. Use something like paint thinner, enamel reducer or simple green to clean any residue off it before clear coating it. Clear lacquer may also wrinkle the current finish on there.

    I bought a spare 218 for my truck and when I took the oil pan off there were two mice preserved in the pan. Looked like something from the La Brea tar pits.

    In the shop manual the transmissions look identical. Perhaps someone has part numbers that would confirm that.

    I have a B4B column shift. Is it a matter of simply changing the top cover/housing of the trans to convert to a floor shift?
