  1. You are a week late. We had 7" last Sunday. (No typos here) Global warming my ***..... .
  2. By chance is there a casting number on your bellhousing? .
  3. If you are swapping just the engine (with bellhousing) then the compatibility issue will centre on the lengths of the input shafts and to a minor part the spline count. Additional issues will be the transmission bolt pattern (but that can be 'adjusted') and the 12 volt starter. Is there an option to swap engine and trans? .
  4. Ditto......
  5. ...or try this... 1. Strip the engine of everything that can removed. 2. Ask around, find a shop that is soon to replace the chemicals in their hot tank. Ask which day this will be. Agree on $$. 3. Take your block, with problem piston, to shop 4. Place block, with piston, in vat. 5. Return next day to retrieve block minus piston. Caustic solutions don't like aluminum. .
  6. I suggest using alot of caution when you get heavy handed with a 6lb hammer. It is very possible to break a cylinder wall by banging on the piston. Drill through the top of the piston with a ½" bit...make about a thousand holes and take the piston out in chunks.....unless you want to sleeve the hole.... .
  7. Perfectly fine at 55, or more....assuming that the engine is in as equally good condition as the body. .
  8. First year for the 276 Hemi was 1952.

Let's see...obama motors uses an Isuzu engine in the trucks, Phord uses an old cornbinder engine and Dodge is still offering a Cummins. Sound like cross-dressing starts at home. I think if we all had our way then all old Mopes would have a Hemi under the hood... My 0.03 (inflation ya know)
  10. Check out Rebel Wire for a rewire package, and remember that 6-v wiring is a bit heavier than 12v so you can rewire now to use with 6v operations and later change to 12v with no problem. If you want to swap the trans for either a Torqueflite of Mopar manual, give me a call, I have adapters. I am currently working on Dakota 5-speed swap package if that is of interest. 888-Hemi-Parts, M-F, 7A - 5P. .
  11. What is your plan for all of the electronics?? Is the shivvy a COP style ignition? .
  12. Not everone has a rosebud and they can be expensive, so I use a weed burner on a propane tank. This works very well and since it has a large orifice it produces a very generous flame. .
  13. Stick machines and sheet metal do not mix. Yes, on material 1/8" and heavier a stick machine is great, but you will need a good wire feed for gauge material. Don't skimp on the size if you actually plan to use it often, buy the biggest unit you can since you then have more flexibility. You can 'turn down' a big machine to do small work, but you can't 'turn up' a small unit... My Millermatic 250 may be overkill to some folks, but I have never had a job too big or too small. I also have had a 220v stick machine for over 40 years and a 110v flux core that is handy for certain jobs, but the Miller sees most of the work. Now, if we're talking outside, in the wind, then the stick machine is king. My $0.02
  14. That chopped wagon has very nice porportions, Well Done! .
  15. George's phone number is 814-354-2621. .
  16. Good to hear that you have a new supplier lined up! .
  17. If you will not need you original piece later then send it, afterall you know its condition.
  18. This is yet another variant that I have run across with regards to crank flange dimensions. While doing research for my Torqueflight adapter I found that there is a difference in flange thickness on 'long' cranks vs 218 and shorter... What the hell was going on back then...?
  19. Here is another 'calculator', pretty user friendly, lots of input options: http://ctny.audiworld.com/mark/s4/gears/gear_calc.html .
  20. Still top quality in my book. .
  21. The factory color is silver. Is the red on just the valve covers, or the entire engine? Maybe it has had some work? Both are good little engines, parts are readily available.
  22. Please keep one thing in mind. Neither Pat McGuire or myself would go to the trouble of designing and making adapters if there was a 'bolt-up' unit already available. If you have to have an all factory parts swap then you will need to focus your search to the pre-62's (pre slant-6) engines. This excludes what we normally refer to as a 'modern' transmission. I suggest calling WildCat Auto Wrecking. 503-668-7786. http://www.wildcatmopars.com/ .
  23. USPS.. I recently shipped an alloy wheel to England and shopped USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL, and a couple others. Low price at USPS was $105, the next 'low' price was over $240 ! Not cheat but it was in my customers hands in about 10 days including their customs. .
  24. A cutting torch and grinder makes the coil spring perch go away. New perches for leaf springs are available just about everywhere. .
