  5. First get a manual and parts book and verify all the part are installed, especially the springs. In the manual will be a procedure for adjusting the over spring, and you can download a tool template from the downloads page. I would also check the ball pivots to make sure the bronze inserts are not worn or missing. When those are correct it pretty easy to to free play, especially if you have the floor out and remove the vent on the side of the bell housing. Then you can see the throwout and clutch fingers for the adjustment.
  6. Factory install docs are in the Downloads section.
  7. A lot of people think a dual master will keep you from having a full brake failure. I had the exact same experience in a dual master Dodge Dart many years ago. Coming up to a stop sign, pedal all the way to the floor, no brakes. E brake saved my bacon. Also it my understanding the advantage of disk over drums is they are more fade resistant when they get hot. Drum brakes have more braking area so in theory they should provided more barking capacity. The problem is the drums can't dissipate the heat as well as a disk so they fade badly after they get hot from repeated use.
  8. First, be safe and do a full brake overhaul including steel lines, flex lines, wheel cylinders and master and new shoes. Don't forget the emergency brake. DO it now and you will probably never have to deal with it again in the near future. These cars have solid brake systems but you have to know how to fix and maintain them to get best performance. Carb overhauls are pretty easy, lots of youtube videos available. It your aren't going to fix the auto choke then consider adding a manual choke. I would check the size of your battery cables, it was pretty common for them to be switched out to 12 volts cables over time. This would contribute to your hard start issues. And don't forget to drive it!
  9. Yes you can, just tap on "Click to choose files" Posted from my iPhone. Android works the same way.
  10. If you pump the pedal does it come up and appear firm? Then you need to bleed the brakes. (After you release them the pedal goes down until you pump them again? Again, bleed the brakes. Or is the pedal low but always firm? Then you need to adjust the shoes.
  11. 3 underneath, total of 13 nuts.
  12. To make this a bit easier how about it we create a category in the Links Directory where individuals can post their own thread link with a short description of the build?
  13. What is the CFM rating of the B&B you use for the triple set up?
  14. What is behind the seat? A little storage area or a jump seat?
  15. Were you logged in?
  16. And many thanks to Mark and Tod for the thankless job of being a moderator!
  17. Try the search function. lots of info available.
  18. Actually you can use a dial gauge to measure the free play. I've seen specs for bearing loading somewhere. I'll see if I can find it later today.
  19. How about http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-product/compressor-oil/synthetic-compressor-oil-iso-68-sae-30/ Wrong weight, but is designed for pumps. The WD40 news is old news, they released a lower VOC version for CA years ago.
  20. Over the years I leaned the lesson, right rig for the job. Tried a T bird, V8 rear wheel drive and it was better, but always struggled with cooling issues (radiator and tranny) in hotter climes. Finally did it right, 09 F150 with max tow, rated to 11k. Now I go up the mountain at 70, air conditioner on full and tranny and radiator not even at halfway. Much nicer, less stressful trip!
  21. The article notes he increased cooling capacity with a larger radiator. Also he was only pulling 2200 pds, just a little over class one. I used my P15 for years to drag my boat around town with no issues. But as soon as you start pushing the envelope (and 3K plus is pushing right through the envelope) add terrain & temperature challenges you are not going to see adequate performance. As a side note, don't most states require brakes on a rig over class 1?
  22. As someone who has used a P15 to tow a 2k pound boat rig to the elevation of 7200 feet twice in 100 degree heat with a 4.1 rear end (It came out of a truck) I can offer some experienced based advice. First, a 3K+ rig needs to have brakes installed. Otherwise it is just plain unsafe. If you are still 6 volt then hydraulic brakes are your only choice. Pulling up any kind of grade will be slow, like first gear slow. 4.1 is the way to go, anything taller than 3.9 is just eating up the clutch. Towing a rig this heavy needs a V8 to get the job done safely. Also be aware you are pushing the limits of the cooling system, between the load and if ambient temperature is high (80 or above). I never boiled over but had to stop numerous times to cool off when we got to the edge.
  23. Looks great Tim! Very nice job!
  24. In the picture a spring is missing for the choke, so it won't set correctly when the cable is pulled out.
  25. Probably most interesting include the Leaderboard, from IPS: We are excited to announce the Leaderboard as the latest all new feature of IPS Community Suite. The new Leaderboard is designed to better highlight your most active members and content based on reputation and other metrics. The Leaderboard will greatly enhance both member and content discovery on your community. Also Tag Quick Edit: Tags are a powerful feature in IPS Community Suite 4 and we have seen clients using them in many ways to enhance content discovery on their site. Adding tags to an item is quite easy but modifying them after the fact requires you to edit the root content item. Not only is this tedious but it also then shows an edited-by line for that item even if all you did was change a tag. To make this process more user friendly we now have the ability to quickly edit tags when viewing any content item. When you view an item that has tags enabled and you have permission to edit then you will see a link to edit tags. Embeds: IPS Community Suite allows for integrations with quite a few third party systems and also can embed content from external sites. We have added a whole new list of embed providers where you can just paste in a link to that site and a nice box will show up.
