I got the cable with the "Overdrive" inscribed into the T-Handle when I bought the engine and transmission. It had an underdash bracket that looked like a mini version of an add on single gauge bracket. I took the bracket off the cable as I had an extra hole at the far left side of the switch plate with the heater controls. Popped the hole plug out put the cable in then put the T-Handle back on.

I was at a junkyard in Butterfield, MO when I was 16 or 17 so around 1976 trying to get a grill bar off of a 48 sedan for my business coupe. Problem was there was a tree that had grown up between the bumper and grill and was preventing getting the one bar that I needed. So my dad said go back up and see what they will take for the whole grill. I headed back up to the office which was quite a hike. Price $15. So, back I go. Problem was that I had been needing to go to the bathroom since not long after we had arrived. So, I headed off the trail behind a tree and did my business. Grabbed some leaves off a scrubby little tree to finish up then went and got the grill. Hauled home the grill and several other parts we had already pulled and called it a day. Next morning I woke up in total missery. Seems I had pulled leaves off a poison Sumac to wipe with. Spent the next several days in bed, having to apply calamine lotion to the infected area. Called in "sick" to my job at the local grocery store. However, my mom thought my predicament was hillarious so when she went shopping she informed the owner who had a real nice 32 Plymouth Coupe (except for the color) painted pink with a SBC what had happened. Of course by the time I returned to work all the employees at the store knew what had happened and I caught hell for weeks.

Well we had about 5 inches overnight and thorugh until early afternoon. The snow actually made getting around a little easier since it covered the ice. Was a very powdery snow, which turned the hills on the golf course across the street into a snowboarding area for the neighborhood kids. Personally, I am ready for this crap to be over with. They even cancelled the local Junior A hockey game tonight so I am stuck at home watching TV.

Wow, that is like a beach vacation, 22 right now in Dallas forecast is for snow late tonight into tomorrow with a high of 29 for Friday. I used to do business with New Flyer in Winnipeg so I know it can get colder that a well diggers arse up there especially when the wind gets to blowing.

I have been in the Fiat plant in Betim Brazil a couple of times and lets just say it is not quite as tidy as that VW plant.

Greg, May I suggest pulling the front sheet metal off before putting the new engine in? Not that difficult to do and will make the job so much easier. There are something like 6 or 8 bolts holding each fender to the cowl, then two under the radiator support. Label and disconnect the wires so you know where they go when you put it back and then you and a buddy just lift off the fenders etc. I even had the wife and daughter help lift off the front sheet metal. Of course as you know she told me we were doing it wrong while we were lifting. Not having to try and hit the hole between the fenders when you install will make you a much happier man.

We are now having rolling power outages in the Dallas area. Our electricity was off for about 30 minutes. They said on the news that we are having a statewide power emergency and the Energy Resources Council Of Texas is turning off power in rolling neighborhoods for 15 to 30 minutes.

19 here in Dallas today with 40 mph wind gusts. Not much snow this time but we do have about a 1/2 inch of ice on everything. What snow we did get today was going straight sideways. Supposed to be down to 8 tonight then warm to a toasty 19 for a high tomorrow with a chance of snow then down to 7 tomorrow night. The a forecasted balmy 23 on Thursday. Cheese Heads here for the Super Bowl feel like they never left home.

Thanks for that big BUMMER Lanny. I had a 33 years ago and traded it for a 40 Chevy sedan when we started having kids so that I would have a "family" car. Regretted that move from the moment we signed the titles, and still bummed every time I think of it. Kept the Chevy for less than a year and didn't have another collector car for 20 years until I bought my current 48. Your coupe is looking good, should be a blast to drive. My Offy is water heated. You can see the plate bolted to the bottom of the intake with elbows for connection of the heater hoses on the way to the heater.

My daily looked like this last winter, twice we had 11 inches. This year we have had snow once and it came in just under 5 inches.

Looks like you are making some good progress on your truck. The modern style thermostat should cause no problems. I am currently running one in my 218. I also have the same Intake/Exhaust set up from Langdon's and I have never hooked the chokes up. My car starts right up every time and it sets in the driveway regardless. While we obviously do not get as cold here in Texas as you do in Ontario, I have started it when the temps were in the high 20's and it fired right up. Also Pete (Blueskies) ran the same setup on his 230 in Idaho and I believe he stated that he never hooked up the coke either.

I made a shroud for mine that has made a big difference. Not all that difficult just took some time letting the fiberglass set up. Here is how I did mine. 1) Cut a piece of thin plywood slighlty larger than the core, making sure to cut a notch to fit around the upper and lower hoses. 2) Cut another piece about 1 inch larger diameter than the fan. 3) Measure the distance from the core to what would cover about 2/3 of the fan blade. 4) Cut 4 blocks of wood as standoffs between the two pieces of plywood taking in consideration the thickness of the plywood to give you the total measurement from step 3. 5) Measure to get the proper position of the fan to the core both horizontally and vertically. 6) Using the plywood and standoffs screw or nail everything together using the measurements from step 5 to position the round plywood piece to the core plywood. Here is what you will have after you get through with step #6 7) Get some fabric with some stretch to it and lay it on the round plywood piece, staple it in the center then staple around the perimiter of the round plywood. Once you have the fabric stapled to the round piece, stretch it down and around the back side of the core sized plywood and staple it all the way around. Now you have your form. This is the form with a coat of resin painted on before I started adding the glass cloth. 8) Get some fiberglass cloth and resin. Mix a batch of resin and paint it over the fabric form then start laying your fiberglass over the form. Lay up as many layer as you want to build up to a thickness you are comfortable with. 9) Once all the fiberglass is set, drill a starter hole in the round plywood and use a jigsaw to cut around the edge of the plywood to remove it from the shroud. Do the same with the core sized piece of plywood. This is after everything set and I have cut off the first half of the round plywood. It is turned upside down on top of the remaining shroud. 10) to make room for the lower hose, I then cut a notch in the shroud and used a plastic drinking cup cut on a diaginal and glassed it to the inside of the shroud to form a "pocket" for the hose to run in. 11) Sand, paint and attach with two pieces of aluminum angle screwed into the shround and core support. I also used some stick on rubber weatherstrip from Home Depot between the shroud and the radiator to seal it and prevent rattles. Here is the shroud before I realized I had to make the pocket for the lower hose. And here it is installed. I cleaned up the edges around the fan opening and painted them so it looks better now than in the photo.

I am running a 6 blade fan from a 53 Suburban with my home made fiberglass shroud. I didn't notice any real change in noise level when I switched from the 4 blade fan to the 6 blade. Felt like here in Texas I need all the air flow I can get for the 100 + days.

Larry, You need to find an Borg Warner R10 OD from a later model Plymouth or Dodge. I believe Plymouth started using the OD in about 53 with Dodge using a bit earlier. Mine is from a 53 Plymouth Suburban. Was a direct bolt in swap. All the stock linkage hooked right up to the OD as did the drive shaft and E-Brake. Only thing that I had to do other than bolting in the OD was to install the OD cable (much like a hood opening cable) and wire the OD per the diagram in the manual (which is posted in one of the other OD threads currently going). I put my kickdown switch on the underside of the dash rather than the linkage since I have dual carbs but that was it. Other than that you could use a S10 T5 using one of the available adaptors.

That Phaeton was staying at the same hotel I stayed at for the Lone Star Round up last year. Was with a mid 50's Ford, a Nomad and a green roadster that looked bone stock but was running a V8. Talked with them for a few minutes one evening in the parking lot and they said they were from So Cal.

I will add that a 6Volt OD Solenoid/Govenor/Kickdown will live just fine on a 12Volt system. I have been running mine like that for 2 1/2 years with no problems.
