  1. should be reading half full when it is half empty.....
  2. Was the engine rebuilt or re ringed and new bearings. Lots of places to hide all kinds of junk. Pull the valve covers and see how much crap is there.
  3. If the pilot bearing is failing this can cause this as well.
  4. Stay away from Heli coils. they require a hole with a bottom to lock into......Find thread inserts. You drill the 7/16 hole out to 5/8 and then screw in an insert. the insert has 4 pins that you then drive in an thus locking the insert. I hate any heli coil....
  5. I did not drive to work but I drove to my motorhome to do some work....would you beleive the pin on the fuel pump fell off in the driveway,,,,,,not my driveway.....Tow job home
  6. Begging for forgivness is easier then begging for permission
  7. What is the issue with the aluminum rad? The one I ordered from Champion cooling was wrong...way to short...the one from a 49 plymouth was correct.......
  8. Usually you have the electric fan tight to the rad......maybe its your radiator
  9. Sounds like the bendix is slipping.....sometimes you can wash it out with brake clean then lube again with LPS3......nothing to do with timing.
  10. Ford Explorer 8.8 is an easy swap......can get with or without disc brakes.....
  11. Its a nature of the beast...the carb is just a glorified juice can. the fuel leaks and evaporates...you have to learn to live with it....not a big issue.....remember this is very old technology......
  12. Use two bosch relays. shiftrite is the ground circuit for the first relay. It is wired normally closed. Battery power goes from the normally closed relay to the second relay normally open. When the gov grounds out the second relay closes then the solinoid acts shifting the od in. When the shiftrite button is pushed it opens the battery circuit and the solinoid shifts out of od. As long as you are under power from the engine it should not shift back to od. Just ease up on the throttle and it shifts to od. hope you can make sense out of this. Its clear in my mind.
  13. Just wire a small dash light bulb in series into the power wire coming to the gauge...this will slow down the sweep of the needle......been like that on my car for years with no problems.....
  14. Run the old 0 pressure cap.
  15. Without knowing what the "manpower" problem is, it is hard to comment on the issue.
  16. Well, really does it matter.....you have to look hard to see them anyway.....
  17. Sorry to hear they are out of buisness.....I am very happy with my set...Being tube they are not noisy. Me thinks he sold them too, way too cheap. Good quality bends and welds....Much better than some others out there
  18. More Chinese junk....
  19. That should be Kilograms.........
  20. Thanks...thats just what I picked up....
  21. Which one did you use?
  22. I read this article......and just what is it he ends up with? Not much. Has to find a job or something
  23. Start engine, check for leaks , warm up and check oil pressure....then drive it like you stole it...
  24. Myself, being you are putting in a different engine I would have pulled all the front off....Unless you are a magician you will have the new engine in and out a couple of time fitting everything......Good luck.....
