At 81 I’m almost there. Slow going down and slower getting up, will need to get under the Suburban today to install ny homemade floor shifter, then drive with it, to learn how it works in real time. Just now making notes on the project. Happy New Year to all!

I was about to dump what MOPAR parts I have, they don’t sell on eBay or craigs list but after reading this blog, I’m going to box every part and store. Who knows, possibly never worth much but they will exist. last week I gave a part for the cost of freight and gained a friend! Good trade!

Plymouthy, well said. I am not a restorer, only a very novice repairer. I am not a Casper50 nor a Plymouth Adams person of due detail. I am not a body repair nor a painter, thus an advocate of original patina because if a thorough paint task was REQUIRED I would never even start. Yet by buying thrashed parts cars for a couple hundred dollars and via this forum and the internet, I can learn to do every myself at reasonable expense. i’ve just finished fabricating a floor shifter (attached photo - nicer levers to be attached today) for the R10 overdrive which also attaches to a standard three speed. What makes it a fast shifter?

I fabricated this, rough and worked, but not on an overdrive. OD must be mounted in front of that solenoid. New design finished yesterday, will install in the Suburban tomorrow. Much different shifter.

For DodgeB4ya. Had it looked at by the Doc today. All looks on schedule, except my shop schedule.

I got careless saturday with my hand grinder and cutting disc. One inch either way would have been very bad. As it is, only a deep flesh wound, all sewed up and healing. Be careful guys, we can get careless.!

Will fox craft work on an R 10 overdrive? Their photo is not clear.

I like to lay out something like the carb, or backing plate, or show them the movement of the pistons when the head is off, etc so they see what is inside. Quick sometimes short glimpses of how things work. Sometimes I just have them help me move something so they get a feel for weight and size. A picture is worth a thousand words. I took them to the BBQ one year. They still talk about that.

For how long have you been buying Dodge trucks? What would you estimate is the average price paid?

I set the seats in today. These are Ghia seats, I paid $40.00 for the pair.

The basic painting is done. This won’t be a “show” car but will show ok just the same. Tomorrow some paint touch up, then the extras.. install engine this weekend.

John, I paid $10 for the frame, $70 fuel to haul it home. Then lucked into a person getting rid of a stash of VW parts,, I bought for $80. Stash included, all parts required for a 63 Bug, extra parts to build two engines, and an additional frame. I swapped the engine parts and $300 for a running engine, so I have a total of $460 plus some rattle can of paint and sand paper invested thus far. I bought it to build with my grandson, but he isn’t interested, so will complete it and sell it. will complete it similar to the top picture.

I thought you might use Moose hide! LOL gonna Mount a moose antler on the hood, Texas style?

The fuel tank on my Sportster is part of the body, welded in! So I’m going to use a 3” hole saw and cut two holes in opposite Ends of the tank. Then I can get in there with the high pressure steam cleaner nozzle and blast away, let the water and debris drain out. Then plug those holes, fill with cheap vinegar and let it work overnight. Next morning drain and repeat the steam cleaning step. Once it drains and dries, put plugs in the holes and add gas to the tank. With a sentiment bowl filter and a standard flter setup, should be able to capture debris as I use the engine. wish me luck.

Going masculine. Tomorrow will fab roll bars, then paint the inside panels, roll bars and floor satin black. Black bucket seats next week., it isn’t a show car, just a practical fun car.

Nice installation but a long way from the tank. Are you below the tank? I like your sediment bowl filter.
