    I also used a Cherokee rear axle, 3:73 ratio. I easily cruse with the big rigs and can pass them with ease. Would have chosen disc brakes had I know, but truck brakes very good. I have Rustyhope discs on the front. The only way to go. Best to you.

    Difficult to make a silk purse out of a pigs ear, but maybe a duffle bag, no offense intended. I considered a number of colors then decided this color would be somewhat forgiving and a nice unpretentious result. Need to get this out of my shop.

    Vinegar. Vinegar can be used to clean rust from the inside of a gas tankbecause it contains acetic acid. This can be accomplished by filling the gas tankwith water and then draining that. Next, plug the hole where the petcock goes, and fill the tank with the vinegar, leaving it in overnight. Has anyone ever use this method?

    From Nebraska, grew up near North Platte on a grain an cattle ranch. Had no neighbors to the East or south, just natural grass pastures know as the Great Sand Hills. No electricity, no telephone, no radio after sundown, no crime, poverty, homelessness, nor fake news! My best friends were my dog and my horse. It was the Best of times! Photo taken 1949 circa. Bunk house my bedroom.

    Glove box side. A qualified yes. To my eye, it balances the dash as well. I have added the tach in the speaker grille.

    I did not like the 51-53 dash until I two toned it. The top of the dash continues to the doors a nice wraparound.

    Not mine. Found on the street. I visited with the owner, he bought it from the Navy decades ago. Has V8 . All original. nice well kept truck.

    Minor electrical glitch, already fixed. That’s why it will get driven, slowly at first. I totally disassembled this car, so a few glitches are to be expected. Goal now, CHP for vin number, DMV for title and license, State Farm for insurance.

    I would guess, the amount of salt you will encounter will not do an appreciable amount of damage. Your wet springtime should adequately remove most. I need the road therapy, need to get out of my shop. You have set a great example of humble sharing, which I enjoy. a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you and your family.

    TKS for the great options. I had this sanding disc for my hand grinder so gave it a whirl. Unlike automotive body metal, this metal is thick, very difficult to cut a scar into it. The paint came off. I then started to smooth and feather the edges with DA 230 grit and I’m getting nice results. This body is built out of sheet metal a pure cut and weld design. Designed to take a beating, no pink flowers on the dash. So tried a couple paint colors, will go with the light blue, will be forgiving of the natural edges in the metal. This is man stuff!

    Dave, I agree. Those fenders are heavy metal. Will require heat to reshape them, the will bead blast, there are at least four colors on here, so it just have had an interesting life. I fabricated a tow hitch today. So will tow it to CHP for title. I have all parts required fo complete it. Fun project.

    Current plan is to go blue, something like this. The rear fenders need some dedenting and will require torch work to straighten them out. This thing is not made of tin!

    Tool: on this forum I’m the patina advocate, so yes paint can be left. In this case, I’m only going for a smooth finish and believe a nice paint job is in place. I will look for that wheel. TKS

    I am cleaning this metal to repaint. This paint is exceedingly hard. 80 grit hardly touches it, 120 does better. What may have someone painted this with?
