  1. Please ignore everyone else's requests as I---- want all parts off the parts truck- all the goodies all just for me. I searched you up on my blackberry, you will get a e-notice soon. Price is not a concern. Thanks, Bob Just jokeing-seems to be a lot of Pilot house needs!
  2. 51 Plymouth.
  3. Old mechanics need to know when to give er up- I`m getting close! Bob
  4. For $1700.00 ---no matter how it was rebuilt/refurbished/ remanufactured or gone through---- the OD transmission itself should have worked with no problems at all. Bottom line is it was assembled incorrectly and or assembled with worn parts/ improper clearances/worn needle bearings-ball bearings/worn back case/balk ring/solenoids and on and on. Should have been covered/repaired W/ no questions by seller and shipping covered by seller with fast turn around! Keep the non-pain in the ass customers happy! It will make your reputation the best!!!! Bob
  5. My 1950 Chrysler NewYorker Hdtp. has a die cast piece up on the front fender at the rear of the front wheel. Not the same as in the picture in this thread though. I'm kinda really into the C38/9 1946-8 chryslers- have been for over 30 years and have never seen a factory chrome shield on the front fenders. It's possibly a 1950 Cadillac? Bob
  6. One lever on the M6 is for high and low range, the spring loaded lever when pulled back will let the other lever shift into reverse. Bob
  7. The Data and factory books state a different horsepower rating as in "gross"/SAE/or "MAX" instead of Net (95 Net hp ) as on the truck data tag. Take a look at Wikipedia and you will see a description of all the different ratings. Sales literature usually pumped up the horse power ratings by showing a different calculated horse power #. Helped sales I suppose! Bob
  8. I always check clutch cross shaft rod clevis pins for wear, I make sure the aluminum bearing shells are not worn out in the cross shaft.Check for rotted rear motor mounts-engine is out of alignment with cross shaft-very important. I lube all clutch zerks. Also then adjust for 1" max of clutch pedal free play. Then if still a problem I use the MoPar over center spring tool -see pic, to check that adjustment. Never had a pressure plate cause this situation-unless it was made in CHINA! Bob
  9. I have a 60 passenger 52 dodge 2-3/4 ton bus and the coachbuilder "Paccar" put their own spec tag on the Dash area to the pass side by the entry door. Bob
  10. Every 1948-53 Dodge b1-2-3-4 1 ton I've owned /parted out is or was a 4.3. Power wagons are a lower ratio. 4.3 is a ok kinda road ratio. 3.9 which I have never been able to find would be great for a 1 ton. They are a real hard to find rear end. Bob
  11. Also Studebaker and International used them up into the 60's. Most were 6 handholes but I just saw some late style 2 handhole style rims,
  12. Here are some pictures of Dodge 1 ton dually wheels, 5-1/2" rim width. 4-1/2" are much more common and only for 6.00 or 6.50 tires. 5-1/2" will mount 7.00 or 7.50 tires. They have a 1-1/2" side offset so the tires don`t hit when bolted together. Yes you could bolt one of these dually wheels to your existing single style wheels - see the pictures, but the tires will rub. You need to use the correct dually rims on the rear axle so the tires won't rub. The picture of the front wheel on the truck just shows the single tire/rim flush (flat) offset-kinda. Bob
  13. Byron, I sent you a E-mail on the Miller big truck brake tools. Bob
  14. A bad input shaft bearing at the front of the trans will cause noise in 1st/reverse and 2nd gears. 3rd gear no noise. Nuetral idling -some slight noise. Bob
  15. I also have a 1952 Dodge 1 ton that I put a after market tach in the speaker grille on the dash so it was out of the way and not too in your face -so to speak. I don`t pay much attention to the tach on the 4 ton as I listen and can feel when to split/shift the gears. The tach on the 1 ton was put in when I was a young pup-many many many years ago! I still have/drive the truck today occasionally. Bob
  16. Here is a picture of a factory installed cable driven tach in my 4 ton Dodge. Original turn signal switch is to the left of tach. Bob
  17. Yes, Engine and bell housing will bolt to cross member. Getting a used M-6 is risky because a lot of them are prone to poor upshifting into high range and are hard to fix properly without the correct parts and knowledge. Sounds like you probably want to stay with a regular 3 speed fluid drive trans setup. Steering column shift lever and shifter tube next to steering column are different too as I remenber. Not 100% sure though. You need to have both cars to compare shifters and shift linkages. You can do the swap though. Coronets most always had the "Gyro" and Meadowbrooks / wayfarers had the Std. Fluid Drive 3 speeds. You could get the correct parts to convert your Coronet to a std 3 speed fluid drive from a 3 spd fluid drive Meadowbrook. They have the same wheel base too so as to get also the correct driveshaft. Wayfarers are a shorter wheel base car. Drive shaft wouldn't work. Bob Bob
  18. The Gyro-Matic Fluid drive bell housing is different than Std 3 speed bolt bell housing because the transmissions have their own unique bolt patterns. Shifter linkage/and drive shaft length is different too between the M-6 and 3 spd. The D30 complete engine and trans will bolt right in but you will have to deal with the above mentioned items, and maybe a few more. Bob
  19. Get another drum- they don't straighten out too well! It will get hot and warp again even if you can get it straight. Bob
  20. 1955-6 Dodges also use a long input shaft but a little different than Fluid Drive input shafts. Bob
  21. 1949-50 NewYorkers/Imperials W/ 131-1/2" WB with the straight "8' used the 3.54 ratio gear set. Won't fit the Ply/Dodges though. The gear set case is way too big. Bob
  22. Maybe you could just go to Snap-On online and buy one for $153.00. Should be same price off most trucks too. I just checked this out! Ebay is a big rip on high end quality tools. People just get stupid and pay way too much with out looking at other sources. Bob
  23. Yep- The engines too.
  24. I've got lots of those lined up high volume fuel pumps and the big thing they attach to! Bob
  25. Pat, I forgot that your truck was a Canadian truck- The tonnage ratings and code Letters and #`s are all different!from US. All US trucks 3 ton and bigger have the big engine in them- that is the "Nickel Moly" blocks. That is embossed right into the block. Bob
