  1. Nothing wrong with a black and Highlander car. A friend has a 1948 Chrysler black Windsor club coupe with the Highlander interior. I like it.Here are a couple pics of the interior of the 50 hardtop. Bob
  2. I have always trusted Clevite's. White box stuff-who knows where it came from... Seeing way too much of that no name White reboxed crap!
  3. Pretty sure it will not fit as the 49's are a competely different car. Seat frame width should be different.

  5. I looked for my NC Marine catalogs to try to find more info, but all I could find was this MoPar Marine parts book. It shows only a 251-no 265 under the Crown name. Hmmm.. I do know that the Industrial and Marine engines have a lot of differences compared to passenger car engines. I have worked on a few industrial engines and always had unexpected issues to resolve. Once tried to put a new 251 marine crank in a big forklift engine rebuild-rear flange had a different offset-Don't want to deal with that kinda stuff anymore! Bob
  6. Seems like there is more and more people having bottom end failures after what most say was a very careful rebuild. I'm beginning to think the bearings might be of poor quality-maybe being manufactured offshore-possibly China? I've done lots of these engines and never had a failure-but have done none in the last 10 years. This problem is kinda scaring me now as I've got a 8 cylinder engine to do a complete rebuild on and am afraid of the parts I might end up with. Sorry to see your sad ending.... Bob

  8. I also just got my 1950 NewYorker hardtop out of a long period of storage too-new tires some brake work and now ready to roll again. Bob
  9. It's probably a 1950-52 full size Dodge or Desoto LWB because of the 86" length. All 1950-52 Dodge/DeSoto and Chrysler cars used this same profile type sill moulding-can't remember about 1949 cars. I think Dodge's had the rear end of the moulding stamped to a finished end. DeSoto's and Chryslers had a straight cut off rear end of the sill moulding to fit/slip over the cast rear fender stone shields for a nicer finished/flowing look. A pic of the same profile moulding on my 1950 NewYorker- It has a 86" straight cut off moulding.These mouldings can be hard to identify exactly because of so many W/Base lengths they fit depending on length of the moulding.   10. Oil Pump position might have to be changed a bit and the base plate swapped to fit the later ply distributor Vacuum advance and housing so all clears the block ect. Bob
  11. This guy in Cali at the Clements BQ put a Twin carb Ind hemi in his truck-you should get in touch with him. Reg and others know him. More pictures to be seen if you search Clements here in the forum. Bob

  13. New Glass and Powder Coat/ nice upholstery will be sure to create an award winning, great looking P15 coupe! But-I don't think he is into the "White Shoe" car shows. I'm sure Mike will suprise us all with how nice his car is going to turn out! Hooray for Mikey!! Bob
  14. You need a puller to remove the front pulley. You can see the two threaded holes in the pulley, bolts are installed in those two threaded holes are used with the puller to remove the pulley properly. Shown are a couple different ways to pull it with a two leg puller. Either is good. Bob
  15. Be sure to check the 2 studs that I marked with an arrow. These 2 manifold bolt/stud hole locations require a much longer bolt or stud. You might want to slip the manifold on to check it out. Maybe you already know this -just trying to be of help! Bob
  16. The tube just pushes into the hole in the block without any other means of sealing it. Bob
  17. I second this thick/or replacement seal issue-had it happen to me. Now I Always check seal to T/C clearance- it can cause this same noise talked about. Bob

  19. I installed a 6 volt alarm in my 1951 Plymouth back in 1969 and it worked -saved my Panasonic deck and my Doors/Steppanwolf and Inna-Gadda-Da-Vida 8 track tapes! Still have the car and the 8 track deck too. Life is good! Bob
  20. The reason the shop manual does not show that thick rubber washer is that the original check valve has that rubber washer(seal) built into it. I have one old OE MoPar check valve showing that it already has the rubber seal as part of the valve assembly which must seal against the M/C end cap to function correctly. Some pics of assembly order and a pic of an original used MoPar 1 piece check valve with the rubber seal built into it. You cannot buy them anymore. Bob
