  1. On the other hand, Tim - imagine comfortably moseying about underneath your vehicle,on an easy chair, with your lift set at a lower height....Maybe a little too comfortable and not much accomplished at the end of the day (speaking for myself of course) LOL
  2. Don't like to get stuck too much on things past other than cars ..I will say though, I have some good memories and sometimes laugh when I think back - (innocent fun by today's standards)...The Drive In movie was a great social event.Got together with friends, filled up on popcorn, burgers, fries, hot dogs, milkshakes, soft drinks, whatever - smoked cigarettes, drank beer, checked out the other cars and the women, occasional dust-up,nothin' serious though,(I learned early not to lead with my chin). Of course it was a different time then than now...I don't think that a Drive In theater would get today's youth too excited.. heck, at my age the prospect of going to a Drive In movie doesn't get me too fired up either..I'd probably fall asleep and wake up with popcorn spilled all over my lap and someone knocking at my window. Ahh,but I remember the good times.
  3. '...My chuckle for today.
  4. ..I sometimes leave my Dodge out on the street unattended -also in the driveway,or at a motel overnight. The gas cap is out there in the open and usually the tank is better than half full.I'm not paranoid but stuff happens.I do have a gallon can of gas reserve in the trunk as well,if not for me then someone else stuck on the road. As I mentioned the locking gas cap wasn't expensive,I bought it locally,it has a period look and at today's gas prices I bought one,(the stock gas cap is in the glove box). If I come across another in similar condition and price,I'll pick it up.
  5. A humorous memory for me was taking a young woman to a drive-in movie...It was an alien invasion from space or something, anyhow about the only part I remember were these creatures with huge tentacles reaching out and grabbing people who were fleeing- the movie was crap. Next day,I was over at her place and her mother asked me how was the movie and what was it about. I started to describe the creatures in the movie and instead of tentacles,it came out testicles...somewhat embarassed,I cut it short and said the movie wasn't very good .
  6. I like that photo,Don...Thanks for posting
  7. It's a used gas cap.The chrome finish shows a little wear up close, where the lock cover swings away.I believe they are fairly common and the asking price was $10.00.
  8. I bought this used gas cap locally a couple of years ago - bottom of photo ( a Wise-Lock 400)...Nice shape, with key and no problems using it.It's on my 48 Dodge.Cost was $10.00.At the current price of gasoline,I thought it might not be a bad idea.
  9. ..Great story on the acquisition of the B17 by Art Lacey and subsequent trip to Milwaukie,Oregon....(another for the acronym , IFR ...I Follow Railroads )
  10. Mark..That wouldn't have perhaps been "The Attack of the 50 foot woman" on the 50 foot screen.I agree, some great mamories
  11. Between the two,I would pick the Olds.I would be careful though to check it over for past rust repairs.A friend of mine had a 54 Olds 4 door back in 1961,the car had spent a couple of winters back east and at that time (1961) was already showing signs of rust when opening the rear doors around the fender wells.
  12. Nah -end of story, that day
  13. ...Nice to crack a farm fresh egg in the frying pan -the yolk has some colour and the white holds together ,rather than spread all over the pan.
  14. A while back ,(before winter in these parts),I stopped for gas at an independent Serv Ur Self gas station . An attractive young lady in shorts came over to my truck while I was filling up,smiling and chatting - love your truck, etc. ( hey,I'm 70 years old - occasionally feel younger, but realistic )... she had a plastic bottle of some kind of polish and asked permission to give my truck a " free makeover demo" Cleaned the driver side window , outside mirror, and part of the door.Meanwhile,I was gassed up and ready to go...then the sales pitch on the special (2 bottles for the price of 1 no less) = it wasn't cheap....I thanked the young lady, paid for the fuel and departed
  15. ...Or perhaps you were referring to the Star Trek / Navy analogy..
  16. mackster, Found these in the garage this morning. They need painting, padding and new covering, plastic is okay..Removing 2 screws, each one separates in half to install new covering. If you can use them, you can have them.Send me a PM. Ralph
  17. ...Best wishes for the New Year ! Hope everyone enjoys good health, see their projects coming together and those with their cars on the road have the opportunity to clock more trouble free miles on the speedometers.
  18. ..A bit of trivia -Reading through the article, about midway, "What's in a name",they came up with the name Motorola...Over in Austria in 1934 they produced a car radio - called it a Hornyphon
  19. Bob,It is a nice little mouse, not high tech or wireless, but works great. Can be difficult to buy stuff for me,nice to get something I needed. The headlights on the mouse are on when the computer is on and when the mouse is moved the tallights light up as well.My wife bought it for me from Avon.
  20. ...Don't lose your sense of humour
  21. Interesting link,Tim...Looks like the subject was covered at length a couple of years back ..Hasn't quite taken the same turn...yet
  22. ...When I was younger and heard the term fag it was taken as in reference to a cigarette, other terms were used for sure and more common...evolution of English /American slang I guess.. Take the seasonal lyrics, "Don we now our gay apparel fa la la etc." or lyrics from another song from times past,.."Gone are the days when my heart was young and gay", when being "gay" meant being happy
  23. ...Some snow in the driveway with a new shovel , and I needed a new mouse for my 'puter, found this little guy under the tree -works great and was "plug n play"
