the C-series was designed to accommodate a V8, but the B-series was not...some have made a V8 fit in a B-series, but it was an involved process.

I tested a mechanical fuel pump once by rigging up a fuel line to a gas can, then engaged the pump lever several times...the pump outlet just dribbled. Then I rebuilt that fuel pump with a kit from Terril Machine, tested it again, and with the 1st lever stroke, fuel shot to the other side of the barn.

this is the seat frame with integrated seat belts on the QuadCab that I've stewed on for putting shoulder belts on the old Dodge bench seat. The shoulder harness is integrated to the seatback by the headrest, with the diagonal bracing across the seatback. The latch belt attaches to the basically the side of the riser. My general idea was to follow this design to upgrade the factory bench seat with outboard shoulder belts and a center lap belt, but this is as far as I've gotten on this project

braided ground straps last a lot longer if coated with oil seepage, spilled diesel and regular coatings of dust...the long-lasting ones I've seen on heavy equipment are filthy, which displaces moisture and air, eliminating the possibility of corrosion.

I had a slight problem getting my '48 in the garage, as the concrete floor is slightly higher than at the door opening. That little slope at the entrance meant that the cab could clear the door opening barely as the front wheels were higher than the rear when nosing the truck in. I had to disconnect the garage door opener, push the door all the way back in the track, and hold it in place with a vise-grip on the track. It took some doing, but it looks like the ball is back in my court so I reckon I'll need to gather my notes and post a write-up on my findings, as there were 3 decals used on 3 different canisters painted 2 different colors with 3 different decal orientations, depending on the model...but first I have to work on my 1976 Maytag clothes drier, and we have some nasty weather blowing in this week, so it'll be a few days before I can go into greater detail with the rest of the class. I should have a vinyl decal available for public consumption before the first drive of spring...hopefully nobody jumps the gun and makes a so-so waterslide decal with typos + missing info + inaccurate colors and claims theirs is an accurate reproduction

I have heard of a setup where the mechanical fuel pump is retained and the electric fuel pump is only used to prime the system, so the priming switch makes sense with that configuration. An ignition keyswitch with the starter crank position beyond ignition could be used to prime the fuel pump without adding another external switch. I do not know what the threshold is for the pressure switch to be active, so it may be possible that 2-3 seconds of cranking may build enough pressure to activate the switch. And therein lies the issue with these circuits: the functional attributes of that pressure switch. If you have the switch, it might help to rig up a test with a voltmeter to monitor when the switch activates while cranking.

one man's state-sanctioned extortion is another man's highway pothole filler I cannot tell if that muffler is round or oval...if it is round, is there an advantage to having the inlet and outlet be in the same horizontal plane other than to keep the exhaust pipes in the same horizontal plane?
