  1. Keep a close eye on the rim centers when running radials, they can crack
  2. I had mine made at Denny’s Driveshafts for about 400.00, delivered.
  3. Hmmmm, here we go again.....
  4. Yes, about 90% of 12v conversions use a GM 10Si alternator
  5. 3-4 PSI should work well. If you are plumbing an entirely new fuel system, use a return style fuel regulator to keep the fuel colder. Adam
  6. US Radiator seems to be a really good value for the $$$$$ but your Ford engine may require relocation of the hose fitting on the tanks. Does US Radiator do this? If you really want the best, call Walker Radiator. Adam
  7. True, lead additive is not needed
  8. Circled in red... I just took mine out and never installed any in line valves. Been running like that for years with no issues...
  9. The upper control arm points up towards the front where it attaches to the frame. Try to keep the angle the same as the donor car. This feature makes it a vast improvement over older independent suspensions.
  10. Do the clip, not the frame swap. Very few frame swaps don't look like a vehicle sitting on the wrong frame. One exception here is Radarsonwheels' thread, he did a magnificent job with his frame swap but it took more work than a clip. Measure carefully for the clip because a lot of those end up looking like crap too. Best advice on clipping I can give you is: 1. The ball joints are not necessarily at the wheel center line 2. Measure the angle of the upper control arm front to back and duplicate it 3. do ALL fitting with the vehicle blocked at ride height Adam
  11. Ahhh ca’mon, this is just starting to get good
  12. Drove my 49 for 2 hours yesterday, Runtz resistor was not hot but whatever.. You could also grab a 60's-80's Ford IVR.
  13. Im sure there’s a bad one every once in a while.
  14. This is all you need. Been using one for years and my gas gauge works perfectly. https://www.speedwaymotors.com/Speedway-Runtz-12-Volt-to-6-Volt-Voltage-Reducer,2374.html I've also seen where the gauge doesn't care and where someone spliced in a light bulb. Most gauges probably don't care Adam
  15. What time of year? Could Arizona still have been on winter blend? I do know Western Arizona and Nevada use CA gas. I really notice the difference in my daily when I get into New Mexico. Adam
  16. Oh, almost forgot... My fuel line comes off the pump and goes between the headers to the carbs. I put a snap together asbestos looking cover over it and I have no fuel issues even on 100 degree days. This is using crap california gas with lots of nasties in it. Adam
  17. Yes, read Squirrel's thread from this year and try to find last years thread also. I recall Don saying he had some temp issues but I also recall him saying they were cured with the new radiator. My 49 almost never hits 190 and it has the stock honeycomb radiator. What thermostat is in there? Think about going back to a 160 and adjust your cooling fan accordingly if there is a hotter one in there. I use a fan switch that comes on at 185 and off at 175. Adam
  18. Yes, that’s the way CA works now.
  19. Calling the CA DMV is a serious time commitment starting with the 1-2 hour hold time before you even talk to a human. Then the information you get will be incorrect running you in circles. I would try AAA first.
  20. Never underestimate how stupid and unhelpful the CA DMV is. James hit the nail on the head! Paul- you may have better luck since you go to a more rural DMV. When I have DMV dealings I do it in Sonora because the Bay Area DMVs are the worst! better off with new black plates. Adam
  21. Richard, I've been using a 16" pusher on the front of my honeycomb radiator in my 49 ever since the original engine fan spit a blade years ago. No issues... Adam
  22. I have HEARD flatheads use the same core plugs as an early HEMI and the aftermarket carries bolt in core plugs because HEMI's have a tendency to spit them out if you spank them a little. I would check.... Wayfarer would probably have more info.
  23. Love teaching my kids how to drive these old cars! My daughter had the same look of excitement as yours! Good for you and her
  24. At least that’s an easy one to replace
