  1. Well...I have no idea why it worked this time..........lol.............but whatever you did P15-D24 I thanks you.......lol...............regards from Oz.......andyd
  2. Yep, look under the car just in front of the Parking Brake assembly on the gearbox.......the speedo cable screws into a slightly downward angled thing on the drivers side of the gearbox tailpiece.....regards from Oztralia.......andyd
  3. Daniel, that link to Joe Kennedys Imperial Limo is interesting.........the one here in Oz was originally found by a mate, Russell Cope in a wrecking yard in Brisbane, a local magazine here in Oz did a feature on this wrecking yard around 1972, Russell saw the pic of the car and bought it, I got to know Russell about this time as he was involved in starting the local Chrysler Restorers Club of Australia & I had visions of starting a Dodge Club but decided to give him the contacts etc I had and remember sitting in the back of the Imperial Limo and finding that with my back against the seat back my legs outstretched didn't touch the back of the partition devider.... .........Russells car was basically complete except for the starter motor which he had major problems in finding as I think from memory the 1938 straight 8 used a reduction gear starter which was impossible to find anywhere...............then Russell was told that a local motor boat manufacturer in Sydney also used Chrysler Straight 8 engines in their 30-40foot boats......a call to Halversons found a selection of brand new starter motors on the shelf........Russell was a happy camper....... .............anyway, Russell ended up selling the 38 Limo after a few years unfinished to another guy in the Chrysler Restores Club, Les Sonter who restored the car but restored it with that enclosed rear quarter window feature that the Kennedy car has and Les still has it.........if you do a search under " Les Sonter 1938 Chrysler Imperial" it should be found......... regards from Oztralia............Andy Douglas
  4. Taking nothing away from the 38 Imperial I was just checking the pics again and marvelling at the beautiful upholstery when I realised that the rear seat doesn't have a centre armrest..............a lack of which I am really surprised...........I only mention this as my Oz assembled, T.J. Richards bodied 1940 Dodge does have a rear seat centre armrest, the cars original upholstery was leather seats facings with cloth door cards, a felt roof lining and carpeted front & back.......admittedly when I got the car in 1971 the upholstery was, shall we say............worn.........lol..........what is the material that the Imperial is upholstered in?..........are the door cards in the same material as the seats?........just beautiful....andyd..
  5. Silver20....I just checked that link, thats basically the same type of belts I used...........tho' I must admit the current price as listed makes me shudder......lol......andyd
  6. Plymouthy.........loose change?........nah..........have loose bowels.......oops.........thats for a different forum.........lol........sitting here slowly cooking..........5.10pm and its 98degrees inside the house........aircon is working at the other end of the house but where I am it cops the full afternoon sun........gotta find those beers somewhere.......lol............andyd
  7. Many years ago in the mid 1970's a mate obtained a 1938 Imperial C-20 Limosene, one of 122 built ex Detroit, factory RHD(probably the only RHD one built) ex State Governor of Queenslands limo, complete with the glass partition, intercom & jump seats ..........a beautiful, huge car.........its been restored and is well known here in Oz owned by Les Sonter in Sydney. There was also a 38 Imperial 4dr sedan restored here in my local area in the 1980's it used a local T.J.Richards body shell.......now sold, whereabouts unkown....that one of yours is exceptional.........regards from Oz.......andyd
  8. I don't know if I'm logged in or not..............as I'm able to post this I have assumed that I'm "logged in".........but maybe I'm not?.......lol...........also I do all this on the home computer......I don't have a mobile/pay/cell/whatever phone.............I have tried what LazyK has suggested about 5 or 6 times but it keeps bringing me back to what seems like the start of the whole sherbang in the classified section, under the "Wanted" part.........lol..........maybe I'm not crossing my fingers/legs/tongue/other parts of my anatomy correctly.......lol.......oh to be young again........andyd
  9. Thanks for the reply QEC.........I've been on here since around 2007, more or less.........but cannot work out how to place a Wanted Advert.......is there a simpltetons way to do this?........andyd
  10. Every time I try it seems like it has been accepted but its not there.........is it me?.......Andy Douglas
  11. Daniel.......many thanks for the intake manifold info...I was pretty sure that they wern't Poly intakes but I wasn't sure......lol........I assume they are for the Pantera's........andyd.
  12. Daniel..........Welcome aboard from sunny South Grafton, New South Wales, East Coast Australia.......great story, I'me impressed with your Imperial family.........have a question tho'......I'm curious about those 3 intake manifolds in your picture.....what are they from?........I'm searching for a 1957-1962 318 Polysphere Plymouth cast iron 4 barrel intake manifold...........the 4 barrel intakes were never used here in Oz and are not common anywhere.........what are those intakes you have from?..........regards from Oz...Andy Douglas
  13. Nice work there...thanks....andyd
  14. Firemunkey...........I had a 41 Plymouth Coupe but sold it like a dope, I still have my 1940 Dodge sedan since 1971.....52 yrs...that piece you have is called the Upper Front Fender Shield, either right or left.......Right is # 864992, Left is # 865039.....I'm not sure how its determined which is right or left but the one you have is the US Passenger side as indicated by the 2nd pic............therefore I assume you need the US Drivers Side ...the curvature allows the front of the passenger fender to bolt onto it.....the rusty edges fit against and bolt to the radiator support piece that the radiator bolts into. ...........There is also a sheet metal piece that bolts onto the lower edge of each of the Fender shields and sits behind the actual grille sheet metal panels and against the front of the lower tank of radiator, sort of like a piece that directs air into the radiator.....its about 20" wide and about 10" deep, a triangular piece that dips in the middle to give the crank handle some clearance. .............I have a 1936-42 Master Parts List Book but can't find this part listed......lol......funny thing was when I bought my 41 Coupe it was missing this piece and I found it on US ebay, had it sent to me here in Australia and it made the whole front sheet metal much more solid.......anyway heres a pic of my 41 Coupe, a Detroit factory RHD car that was assembled in South Africa & imported into Oz in the 1980/1990's.......... I owned it from 2007 to 2013........lol.......anyway I hope this helps.........regards from Oz........Andy Douglas
  15. As the original post is from France, I'd be checking British clutch companies also Swedish companies....much closer & should have listings....& yep that measurement, .125 or 1/8th I've always understood it to be the clutch disc lining thickness on ONE side.....regards from Oz.......andyd
  16. Over the past 50 yrs I've been playing with mopars I've collected various paper catalogs from as many shops as possible, then peruse each and compare prices...also check the local rubber supply/aftermarket places and see if they have similar or even the same item without the all singing/all dancing prices....also check ebay and note what is being listed as compared to what the specialised shops list..........I'd try Andy Bernbaums first.......others on here use Steele rubber......their paper catalog is a worthwhile purchase but the company were a...holes to deal with.......sent the wrong part then refused to believe me that they did......I'm in Oz so it was a PITA....so I badmouth them....lol......but have always had good dealings with AB's over the past 35yrs so recommend them.....just checked Bernbaums on line catalog at www.oldmoparts.com ......they have door seals listed for 2dr cars ...regards from Oztralia........Andy Douglas
  17. BobDeSoto........my understanding is that the original radiator is non pressurized, ie it uses a 4lb cap whereas as you are using an aluminium radiator which is made for a pressurized system then you could use a radiator cap to suit that radiator..........but I would check with a competent radiator company or shop to be certain........andyd
  18. My Oz 1940 Dodge has retractable belts in the front and 3 point on each side of the rear seat and a lap belt in the centre rear ....I installed all belts using the correct seat belt bolts and reinforcing plates ......the upper mount for the rear seat is mounted on the parcel shelf with a standard aftermarket reinforcing plate underneath the parcel shelf where the bolt goes thru.....I don't have any pics taken when I did it which was 40 yrs ago(have owned the car since 1971, hotrodded since 1973) but these three show the interior somewhat.......will have to take some better ones...........andyd
  19. If the block area is clean and clear of any crud on the plug hole then you shouldn't need any sealer, the 1 & 5/8th plugs are a good fit and lock into the hole edges .........a light application of any non hardening gasket goo won't harm it........andyd
  20. And if you are in Australia the 1989-1997 and onwards Oz EA-EL Ford Falcon Station wagon complete rear axle, disc to disc is a straight bolt in on the original Oz mopar rear springs.... I installed an EA/EB Falcon rear end and apart from having to drill two extra holes on the Ford spring pad to suit the Ford U bolts that was the only modification.....the Ford uses 3" wide springs so 2 of the U bolt holes on each side were spaced wider than the original Dodge springs....holes drilled & a perfect fit.............andyd
  21. My 1940 Oz Dodge is a D15D, 2nd D is for Deluxe AFAIK, I've had a P11 1941 Plymouth, DD6 1968 Oz Dodge Phoenix 4dr Hardtop(actually a rebadged 1968 Plymouth Fury 111, a 1973 VJ Valiant Wagon....also I've played with Oz 1957-1962 Chrysler Royals which were given the AP1/AP2/AP3 description and being based on the 1953/54 US Plymouth with 1955/56 Plymouth fenders its thought that the AP stood for "Australian Plymouth....or Production"..................but who knows.......... as has been mentioned these alpha-numerical codes are just a way mopar identified a particular type or series of vehicles........andyd
  22. Maok.........have always wondered about those 1937 Dodge Tourers as they seem to have bodies that sit higher than the normal sedans.....were they built on the standard 1937 passenger car chassis or the light commercial chassis.....what size wheels does it use?...........regards, andyd
  23. Here in Oz all 1946-48 Mopars, ie Plymouth, Dodge & DeSoto were T J Richards built Plymouth style bodies & wheelbase length chassis with either Plymouth, Dodge or DeSoto front clips. However there were some Dodge & DeSotos sold that had the Fluid Drive option.......these were imported RHD 4dr sedans from Nth America and were easy to spot as they had the longer front fenders that extended into the front doors & "Fluid Drive" stamped into their bumpers ......no Richards built cars had this feature and all Richards bodies used external front & rear door hinges which was a tell tale sign of an Oz body together with a tapered trunk lid .......all 46-48 Mopars sold here were 4dr sedans tho' there were a couple, like 1 or 2 modified/hand made wagons made by Richards for specific orders......andyd
  24. And apart from whether the 1/2 round seal is rope or neoprene I would strongly suggest that you make sure that those small side seals of which ther are 2 similar BUT DIFFERENT shaped versions are replaced......when I did my 41 Plymouth and found that it had the Best Gasket # 4164 style seal but NO side seals......I replaced the lower piece of the 4164 but installed the missing side seals..........whilst it still had a small drip it was nothing like it originally was.........andyd
  25. I bought a complete Best Gasket set when I was chasing stuff for the 230 I intended to build, no problems getting it thru a couple of places here in oz, I also found that I needed to get a rope seal as the gasket set didn't have that..........lol........only to find that after getting the rope seal & dropping the sump & rear main that someone had installed a neoprene seal so I didn't need to use the rope seal after all.......all this fun was 10yrs ago & I've sold that car & gasket set but I would suggest that even tho' its a PITA I'd not buy a seal UNTIL I actually inspected what was there.......also a fuel pump seal is easy to make...............some gasket paper & a pair of sissors...........my Oz 2 cents worth..........andyd
