  1. What numbers on the rear axle tell me what gearing I have? My semi has a 2 speed rear axle and it is geared so low. 60 MPH is wind open screaming. I bought that other 2.5 ton truck last winter and want to find out if the gears are higher and are able to be swapped out. Both trucks are 53's according to the titles but according to that vin number thread they are telling me they are both 52's. I never did understand that. Thanks for any help. Todd B's
  2. Wow, I give you alot of credit. I could take the top of a house off and add a second story in a heart beat, but there is no way I would attempt to saw the front end of a truck off and feel safe driving it down the road. Hopefully you get it done by August, I am planning a get together and you are only 1 state away. I would love to see it. Great job, Todd B's
  3. You must put the inner fenders in just laying there before you attach the outer fender. if you install the outer first you cannot slide the inner down in place. My experience on my b1b a few weeks ago. Todd B
  4. This has me scratching my head, I changed my manual 3 speed on the back of the 327 to a 700R automatic trans. I changed the mounts and the drive shaft lenght. Mounted the cab but I have not put the floor pieces in yet. I am now wondering if the floor board pieces will need modifiing. Just one more thing to add to the TO-DO list. Todd B
  5. what size engine is going back in?
  6. Very nice truck, you should be proud. How far south from wisconsin do you live??
  7. Is that wheel base extremely short? Could have than been a semi at one time? I thought 2.5 ton was the baby of the semi's. Todd B
  8. You will have to wear sun glasses so the glare off the shiny chrome don't blind you. Looks great. Todd B
  9. Merle, The cover looks great, I see you too have not road the bike yet this year. August 18 I am still planning on the Luau on our hill. Hopefully I can see your cover then.
  10. Dave, Your mom tought you to put yours toys away in the toy box, looks awesome.
  11. I do not have a radio. I used a multi-tool to cut out for my modified items like brakes, gas & fuse box. It cuts very easy. Todd B
  12. Congradulations on the new addition. Enjoy now, because before you know it they are all grown up and gone.
  13. That is way to funny, thanks for the laugh. Todd B
  14. Thanks for the input guys, if anyone is interested in it I would sell. I have no need for car parts. Thanks again, Todd
  15. I found this clock in a pilot house, I am pretty sure it is not original the way it was installed. On the back it says Jaeger watch Co. New York. thanks for any input. Todd
  16. Welcome
  17. I am far from original. So I put all new grade 8 bolts, flat & lock washer & nuts from Fastenal. They have a gold look to them and they don't seem to rust and get ugly over time. It looks great against the dark brown & copper colors we picked for paint. I used the same bolts on my semi and they look as they did 10 years ago when I put them in. I also kept all the bolts and nuts from all my tear downs over the years. I thought when I restore the next one for my daughter I will try to go original. My opinion, Todd B
  18. DodgeB4YA! I just looked at your profile, VERY impressive collection of tooling. Todd B
  19. All I remember is that it looked like a flat head but much larger. I might try to find it again this spring when biking season starts. It was about 70 miles from my shop and the guy left a note on my semi when I was out one night. We went to look at it and there was trees growing in the box and he wanted I believe $1500. The most I ever paid for a pilot house was $500 and I felt I would never find the time to restore. Now if it was a COE it would be in my shed. One of the top 10 on my bucket list is to own a COE, preferably a semi tractor.
  20. I never heard that before. Thank you, I had a chance to buy a pilot-house dump truck a few years ago with tandems but the guy wanted way to much. It also had dual carbs and if I remember right it not only had 2 speed rear end it also had a split tranmission. I remember everything was way bigger then my JA semi tractor.
  21. What is a twin screw model???
  22. If I remember right roberts windshield rubber comes in a roll and you need to cut to fit. I think Steele Rubber products comes all formed with the center bar rubber in it. I was actually looking this up last night and was going to call Monday to verify. Todd B
  23. PM me I can send you one, I have several. Todd B
  24. I have a problem. When I built my 49b1F I swapped the top chrome strip with my 49b1b. The one on the bigger truck was in perfect shape so I put the dented one on my redneck camper. I am tring to fit the one on my b1b and the mounting holes that goes into the dome above the radiator does not line up. 1/2" off the holes are. I have another 50F chrome piece in perfect shape so I grabbed it off the shelf and it too does not line up. I looked in my book and they call for the same part number. Do I have to redrill the dome or am I missing something?? Todd B
  25. Back in the day I had Miller shorty beer bottle caps on my dash knobs. They will snap right on like they were made for them. Very low budget to make them look good plus you can have some fun drinking the beer first. Todd B
