I think restoration specialties sells oversize hinge pins...the ones on my dodge had a larger diameter at the top and it is this portion that locks the pin in place...the actual used section of the pin was of a smaller diameter. Oversize hinge pins will be larger than the stock pin and should be just less than the top wedge section. This wear will force you to drill the center boss (door part) and install the new pin..severe wear may require the drilling of both side of the hinge as the pin will be bigger both ends. Some hinges are bushed and require only the bush changed or drilled to next larger size..It is not a hard takd to accomplish..drill press and a drill vise is a must for a good smooth job. you can clamp the hinge in the vice with a piece of round stock sticking up and use your samll level to ensure vertical alignment.

Bob is correct..I know on my 41 Dodge that I removed the door first..then removed the hinges..thought I had to rebuld them but turns out one of the pins had worked its way up and thus had plenty of slop..reseated for a like new fit. Be aware that there is a screw deep within the pocket of the hinge on the A-post.

That cresent wrench looks like the one I was bending with my "mind" prior to it falling off the flatbed on the mobile stage..they demanded a mobile stage to rule out other forces that may or may not alter the wrench. Yes I am bored out of my wits here....

Larry, ask this question on the HAMB..if it has been done..odds are you will get an answer like real quick... Would not think this would be an easy task though given the lines of the roof..with all the other mods you are making on the car, I think I would get it on the road and see how the thing drives with the newly transplated 5th Ave supsension and drivetrain..then if all is well with the world..then entertian the chop...At least by doing it in stages, the car would be marketable if for some reason you had to move the car...

If something is within a reasonable commute to me and a member here would like a look-see..would do my best to give a report..as long as that man understand that I am not a professional appraiser. I bought the wife's motorcycle that way..friend said it was for sale local to him...I ask if he could look-see..he called back with two word.."its gorgeous" I called the man within the hours..left town for a 8 hour one way trip to get the bike and was back home the following night.

being the tight knit group that were are.,,if there is ever a car in a members back yard and someone is interested..a quick look-see can at least see if for real and general description....this is not an attemp to make a member an appraiser or such mind you..just a spotter...

From over on the Stude forum I read a post as recent as last week that there are now a number of scams selling cars that don't exist..pictures/descriptions are skimmed off of other forums and such and posted for sale...people go to get their purchase and nothing is there.. making it harder and harder to do trading these days..and some of these folks are homegrown..even have decent English grammer...

Of interest here is that you inspect the shackle closely..the bolt section gets pretty much abused by both the elements and if the bushings were shot for a long period of time, it also get pretty much worn out of round. You can maybe find new shackles or either rework you existing with new bolts..getting a stepped bolt to maintain the proper gap may be a bit difficult but necessay.

That would make one heck of a package tray wouldn't it..that was the sweet part of the Dodge business coupe....that short tray and no back seat...

That would be my guess...this is what establishes the trusted 7 o'clock dist position as the pump gear meshes with the cam gear..if you have established TDC with the #6 and verified by valve position..then you either slide the oil pump out and index it correct or position each plug wire in respect to what you now know.

as more people get into the the older cars..more are turning to less known cars and as such price is ever increasing. Getting hard to find a beater at a decent price these days..the electronic pages of today have made these cars accessable to everyone and desire to own brings the big dollars out. Barns finds are getting rougher as it is hard to even find a barn these days...so in reality..if you have found a nice solid car or a particular body that has eye appeal..the value will be what you wat to pay versus what the man will sell for...lot of owners of these cars now have Barrett Jackson stars in their eyes and think they all have a rare valuable car...you are wise to ask what it is worth but it is only a ball park for the average that you can assume..personal inspection will determine the final worth

Probably the farm Jeep way back in the pre-teen era...driving trucks and stuff for farm use is very common at a very early age. ..drivers permit at age 14..license just a short 6 weeks later...first day with new license solo..age 14..cop pulls me..no infraction...spot check for he said I looked to young to be behind the wheel. Today I say 14 is too young..back then I was elated...

Lot of truth in that statement..years ago I bought a 49 Club Coupe..looked real good in the ad...so I took a gamble and got it..before buying I inquired with a transporter that I had done business with before and luck be with me he was going to be in that town for a deliverly so getting it back to the east coast was smooth and very affordable...long story short..I got it for the wife to drive and said that if I got 50 percent of what it was advertized to be including the paint I would be ok..turned out better than that..I could not have got a rough looker runner and make it look as nice especially the complete new interior for that price...in truth I would be better served doing that now but as I rather like working on them I will stay with my fixer uppers..so if you want to invest time and money..it is not hard..or if you just want to drive it....you be way ahead looking about for a real nice completed car..better deal in the long run. Worst part is that my short legged wife could not drive it and did not feel safe behind the wheel..said if it was an automatic it would have been just up her alley...so it went bye bye as it was really not what I wanted at that time..I did keep it about 3 years...

Welcome...a few people hare have cars going back to that era...they will chime in..sweet thing is that the engine is but slighly modified over all these years...so help and parts are not that big a problem...brakes, trim and body may be another story...

Nile..after buying a few cars here and there and only later finding out just how hard parts are to find for some models versus another..this may very well be your best approach to your next purchase..I am pretty sure you have in your mind the "end results" of your next project and knowing that it can only be achieved if the parts are avialable and affordable when found. Good luck on your search for a nice unit...if the radio plays with a dead battery..walk away...remember Christine!!!!!!!!!!
