Plymouthy Adams replied to Allan Faust's topic in P15-D24 Forum
Unique cars..suggest unique up on them and get some close ups..must be nice to live where there are hardwood trees..pine forrest of the south leaves a lot to be desired..come spring..you hate them more for the pollen..even if you are not allergic to pollen..it gets on everything... -
Interesting Wikipedia on the Demise of Plymouth

that may be his whole point..nothing there..as it does not exist anymore..I tried all links also... -
Another SAAB story..I would never do this but heard about the guy who had the old large bayonet flash bulbs loaded into his backup light sockets on a manual switch..like a visit from the aliens I would guess... Don't look straight into the light bubba...that's when they get ya..!!! Coming to work just this morning..I have four intersections to watch close..people always run the stop signs here..have for the past 12 years I have been here..I think if they were to police these areas on the first day they could pay for a few new squad cars. And of course..I have my margin of safety and some butt-wipe is on my rear tailgaiting as I drove in this morning. It rural road..I usually am a nickel over..these guys run about 20 plus over for the most part. Double lines mean nothing to them and curves don't intimidate them for the most part either. Just got to be careful..try to keep an out available..

Many a time I have passed the guy minutes up the road paying tribute to the men in blue...I love it..I am on the road a lot with pulling cars..I leave more than my share of saftey room and find I have to back off even after that as it is an invitation for an idiot to jump in only to immediately make a right turn...here in the south and it may be this way in other rural farm land areas..but seem they pull out in front of you and immediately turn left..mostly without a turn signal..meaning you must make out their intentions before you could even take the left lane and go around them..

Overhaul...definition..slightly OT..largely political..but extremely funny...... Hillary Clinton goes to a primary school in New York to talk about the world. After her talk she offers a question time. One little boy puts up his hand. The Senator asks him what his name is. "Kenneth." "And what is your question, Kenneth?" "I have three questions: First - whatever happened to the medical health care plan you were paid to overhaul during your husband's eight years in the office as President? Second - why would you run for President after your husband shamed the office? Third - whatever happened to all those things you took when you left the White House?" Just then the bell rings for recess. Hillary Clinton informs the kids that they will continue after recess. When they resume, Hillary says, "Okay, where were we? Oh, that's right, question time. Who has a question?" A different little boy puts his hand up. Hillary points him out and asks him what his name is. "Larry." "And what is your question, Larry?" "I have five questions: First - whatever happened to the medical health care plan you were paid to overhaul during your husband's eight years in the office as President? Second - why would you run for President after your husband shamed the office? Third - whatever happened to all those things you took when you left the White House? Fourth - why did the recess bell go off 20 minutes early? Fifth - Where's Kenneth?"

The dreaded DOUBLE DOG dare..man its do or die now..can't lose face....in all truthfulness. the guys are right..an engine rebuild is just keeping to specs, torque values and cleanliness..don't let terms like balance and blueprint scare you. Most piston sets are sold in set that have taken balance into consideration..a crank from the factory turned all journals equal will remain balanced..rod will be within specs if original to also keep the factory balance on your engine..blueprint is nothing more than ensuring all specification are within spec..nothing more..pre assembly lube is your key to successful long life engine on initial stat up..have it prepped to start immediately..make that first run for about 30 mintues to break in the cam and lifters at a very high idle..say on these puppies about 2000 RPM..if you have access to molybedinumdisufide..(sp) by all means use it on the lifter lobes and bottom lifter surface...if you can find just the powder..mix with 30 weight oil and mix to a good paste form.

Darin..looks very nice..it is going to look good..not to put you on the spot..but..are you keeping a running tab on this car..you have farmed a lot of work out..in my area this would run an arm and a leg plus maybe parts of your first born. -

With all due respect..terms are being used too loosely in the hobby..restoration is a word that I hate because a pop riveted piece of floor pan and coat of paint does not restore a car..would be even less than the word refreshen...sorry..not trying to step on toes..the TURN KEY """does""" mean just that..a car that is finished and only needs an owner..start and run on the other hand describes a car that will do just that, start and run...TURN KEY is a finished product, being a rebuilt car, kit car or custom of some kind...all work is finished..would not/does not mean the car is restored. And by the way, the 12 volt and crossflow has taken you to "upgraded" classification.

I bought mine needing paint job but otherwise solid, zero outer body rust through...Savoy, factory rainshields, 230, automatic, low mileage survivor that purrs real good, it was toatally driveable but I did do a tune up..two weeks later had to do brakes as I blew out a cylinder..rebuilt the cylinders only..shoes were as new. It is a 54 Coupe..everything works and has bullseye headlights. Glazing is perfect...trunk mat is good and original..spare, jack and all in place ...1500.00 Being a low mileage car that has never been dinked with plus an automatic so even the wife can drive it..figured you could not go wrong.

OK, I'm out of here! For a drive that is.

Little bit off the subject but one that I found to be truly unreal..here is how it goes...in one state...unmentioned, maybe more..maybe now ruled unoawful but at one time if I go out to my flower garden and capture some honey bees..at close to sunset I let one go..I view the bee as he flys up and make a Bee line for home..I follow his direction a s far as I can and release another bee..again I follow this bee..I am allowed to cross any proeprty while doing this..I find the bee-tree and mark it. I go to you the property owner and ask to get the honey and of course share the spoils with you..you say no..I am now able to cut the tree and take the honey without your permission. Now how is that for sportsman like conduct? I was shcoked beyond belief when I first read this myself.. -

Maples..huge pretty shade trees..top rooter..trouble...Silver Maple though smaller variety is worse. I took out a silver maple in SC when I built my garage and driveway..the roots I pulled from the ground for they will continue to live and send up new startlings..The roots went some 40 feet out and had even gone to the neighbors yard, under the foundation and had sent up shoots under his house..they are concrete busters of the highest order..this little maple was no taller than 15 feet and probably less than 8 inch trunk mass. -
Norm..of concern with any engine I buy today be it new or used...the first thing of interest is if it is freewheeling or interference fit...don't do interferrence fit hand-gernade engine of any make and model..all modern engines that boast horspower up the yazoo is interference fit..else they could not not make the horsepower they do...I love the LH platform cars for size, ride and comfort..the 3.3 is nice but the 3.5 is awesome..first HP engine built by Chrysler since the late 70's...dual overhead cam, dual induction..last trip to SC I got 29.6 MPG..it is non interference engine. Thing to note is if your engine is on the yes list below..please pay attention to the timly change of rubber band as repair will be expensive...if a no..then if it should break..just a tow and new belt. Kia Engine Interference Replace 1.6 (SOHC) No 60,000 1.6 (DOHC) Yes 60,000 1.8 (DOHC) Yes 60,000 2.0 (DOHC) No 60,000 2.0 (DOHC) Yes 60,000
