  1. clean and clean and clean..use gun cleaning bore brushes..wash with soap and water and soap and water..and then rise..cannot get them clean enough..the oven cleaner will work..sounds like it has been dipped already at the machine shop..you just need the surface and handling oils off it..blow it dry and spray it with a moisture displacment (WD-40) after assembly of larger components..you can clean and paint then. if you are using your old pump..be sure to take it apart and clean it also..as long as it mic's to tolerance and not scored on the veins..put back. If scored..could result in lower oil pressure.. POR 15 web sites abound on theinternet..most info can be gleaned there..if not I have a brochure in the shop someplace...
  2. I cease your dollar and raise you five...
  3. completely disassemble..does this mean you going to rebuild it or just remove the bolt on accessories covers and such. If you are going rebuild, home version..then hot tanking would get it done..however cam bearing and guides get a bit of eaten in the process..you can use red devil lye, please use all precaustion in working with this stuff...it cleans deep within the pores of the cast iron. Comes out looking like new..As it is cast iron, it is porous..and like a cooking skillet..numerous heat up and cool downs will impregnate the metal and will cause oil to eventually be under your paint again..that grease film is not because momma is not washing the skillet..it is coming from the inside out and coating the skillet.
  4. [quote What was it in it's better days?? a shinier butt ugly car...
  5. Don..I know the phantom car he is speaking of and yes at this time consider it masked till Lou is ready to unveil it....enough said..don't ask me more.....
  6. Try mounting your flasher to a solid part of your dash and use it as a sound board..should increase its audio. Flashers are load sensitive..not all the bimetal strips are the same but really should be close...you may be able to take your old one apart and tweak the curve in the metal and alter the rate of flash..what you got to lose???????
  7. Louman..sent you a PM with some questions....I be interested
  8. Norm..the drum is on the axle flange..putting the wheel on will only make the unit more secure to the axle flange..there will be no movement ....
  9. Darin..daily driver quality..looks good, brite and shiney but small handling scratches where you pry to remove the cap..covered with cap on..maybe a small ding here and there..would have to get close and personal to observe..when someone is doing that to your car..they are in the prime position for a swift kick in the pants.
  10. they told grandma her living room furniture had been stolen so they could get the vinyl.. Ed answered the question...15's..all matching and straight off a Plymouth...have not seen any 16's about either...Only 16 I have is the metal painted unit..only have one..would look good on a spare diplayed in the trunk.
  11. here is a link to the lyrics....and a bit of history as to the writer... http://www.jldr.com/shackpoem.html

  13. you have to watch the swap meets..just got a set for one of our readers here last November at our local meet...dailies are about 40.00 a set and still be good looking units. PS..must have 10 inch caps..nine won't cut it...
  14. I guess he was saying there are all equally important..and remember..just because you put all your money on one horse does not prevent you from watching the race.
  15. without a cross section would be hard to tell..to be honest with you it is just a basic rubber seal for 1/4 inch glass fitting onto a pinch weld. Be assured som local glazing shops has this stuff on hand..they did when we did my frinds 50 chebbie p'up..you may wish to check with them.
  16. BobT...you ought to know these words Where I sit me down to rest like a snowbird on its nest... give me the next line....

  19. Oh yeah..got the picture...concentric hub...they can be a bear to remove..just be careful not to flare the hub...time to Whack it...
  20. Isn't that car a front wheel drive..and if so just remove the dust cover like a normal car and pop out the bearing and pull off..if the shoes are locking it on due to a worn groove on inner lip..back off the shoe adjuster..make sure emergency brake is off also...

  22. Pat..a lot has changed over the years..the truckers was at one time the most courteous and safety minded driver out there..now you have a bunch of young hot heads behind the wheel of that 80,000 lb missle on the slab of concrete with the attitude that his job is the only reason you have a 4 wheeler to drive. I still however cut them the most repect but when I see one of these types driving in a built up area on the interstate..restricted to the two right lanes, weaving and bobbing in and out of traffic and in the third lane trying to make 80 MPH in a congested area..that man NEEDS a ticket..no less than reckless endangerment..and on the other coin you have 4 wheelers doing the same..equally deserving of a ticket..I just often wonder if some of those truckers actually consider how they may be able to slow down much less come to a stop when fully loaded..I know when I am towing that the braking is greatly diminished...the most courteous bunch I have found bar none when towing an old car is Atlanta traffic..sure beats Chicago..Charlotte to name just a couple.
  23. Unique cars..suggest unique up on them and get some close ups..must be nice to live where there are hardwood trees..pine forrest of the south leaves a lot to be desired..come spring..you hate them more for the pollen..even if you are not allergic to pollen..it gets on everything...
  24. that may be his whole point..nothing there..as it does not exist anymore..I tried all links also...
