  1. looking for the silver bullet in the arena of brake vampires..no real easy way out here..I have not explored anything but the obvious kits that have been worked up by builders already covered on these pages and magazines. At the moment they seem to be the basic choices..price, amount of customer interventionin assembly will be the two main factors deciding which way to go. If you gonna spend the money to upgrade, I cannot see keeping drum brakes on the front..for the rear they are still ok for operation but then..the ole adjustment trick is in play. Lots of people also upgrade rear gears to modern unit that have floating shoes..self adjusting and all the good stuff. You may be the one to get out there and did in the j-yards and pioneer the newest upgrade to keep the old shoes in place..just don't see the advantage. I rebuilt my cylinders..not a problem..Advance has the kits...very cheap may I add...I have the parts to upgrade to disc now..just a matter of having set aside the time to whoop them on...
  2. I have never seen a tag like that on any of my old Plymouth or Doges..either they were not affixed or removed before I got them. I see the oval red maunufactuerer tag and the Briggs body number only when under the hood.
  3. Sometimes at shows these little things are what seperate most of the owners..as you can only do so much to a car and retain stock appearance...right trim, right color paint, tires, hubcaps etc..ah but the ventican blind...one of the more elusive accessories of the period. I for one cannot see the price they command...and unless you be napping or the car is rocking there is really no need for one..EXCEPT..he has one..the other guy does not. All is vanity..we are all guilty to some degree of that when outfitting our cars.
  4. I personally like the 2 door sedan over the coupe body...but what the hell do I know about style and looks..I bought a bullet nosed Studebaker while back.
  5. That is the neck of the woods my D19 Bz Cp came from...nice shape for the shape it was in..getting better..just not fast enough but that is mostly my fault at times. Getting ready to hit the shop this evening..got my AC Evaporator hung last night and the studs welded so to keep the firewll clean..modified the fresh air vent to allow it to work and still install the AC..got to decide on hose routing tonight..If you stay off the strip and some of them little ranches to the north..you ought to get some work done...
  6. they all say Missouri............SHOW ME......
  7. Any DuPont store can call their main distributor and get the paint code for all the other brands if you have a paint code. Just a phone call away...
  8. I'm gonna keep my mouth shut....
  9. Hokey Smokes Rocky..that be alot of snow...hope you still have power..tree limbs overweighted usually nets power outages...luck to you...I have enough sense not to say we had 71 degrees here in middle Georgia today.
  10. still down here..no flash player alrms going off...am thinking it may be an image blocked by the firewall..
  11. you have to invert your monitor to see the cars down under....
  12. If you can make it as far as Red Top..you can push it to Hollywood...
  13. Greg..maybe you have stayed current with your Frappr map...I know it has been quite a time since I looked at it..about a month ago I think..it worked then also..but could not get the map yeaterday...maybe there is something a bit different in the address line now..could you post the link when you are viewing the map?
  14. Bob..that third one with the flowing hair..if she be upright that would be very close...I did find a rather endowed nude riding on a pig of all things..gee..something for everyone out there..you have but to look.
  15. Scheduling events and times to meet is a hard thing to do. You never know what may come up at any time that may prevent you from attending. Some of us are very flexible..other may not be that lucky. The event that I hosted was actually the brain child of Don Coatney..I volunteered to work on his car..he had the ideal of getting as many of us to gether as possible. Some could not make it..but of those that did..I think we all had fun..food was good also. I would again like to have a chance for more of our local members to join up for a tech session at my place. Say pick out a needed project for a day and join forces to complete it. I owe one of our members a welding demo..maybe that can be done.. Anyway..those who wish to attend can and will, the others..well the invite is there..
  16. Suggest you start a thread with Colorado and vicinities within close proximity to send you PM with contact data and such for the purpose of car related events. Maintain you own list...I have said data here for most of the guys here in Georgia that are on this forum. The HAMB just had a state of Georgia recall roster going around last couple weeks for same said purpose..big bunch of HAMB members in the area. That way if they want in and such..their choice..forum is not connected to your private assembly.
  17. Brad...how soon and do you want to borrow a radio....be for looks as have not tested either of them.
  18. Therein lies one of the biggest pushing points I have for people to fill out a profile when registering. There is not a need for a home address..large city would suffice say, Atlanta, Ga..or just say Middle Georgia..SW Georgia etc...any posting then would have in the upper right the person, general locale and join date plus number of listing. To list your car(s) would be a plus for in our speed to post we sometimes assume everyone knows what car we have...while most of the mechanicals are the same between these cars..trim, interior and some electrical is very different..a quick look to a profile would allow a tailored answer without need to ask make and model. The entire forum benefits and yet you need not reveal personal data as to your location...
  19. In reference to Boyd C. above...he is pleading guilty this week to washing automobile title..FRAUD..expected to be a fine and about 160 hours of community service in the bargaining agreement where he will use his name and industry profile to crusade against fraud in the title industry associated with the hobby. California is on the prowl form the fiberglass hot rod industry registering with legit titles from original steel while no component from title vehicle is present in the car registered..this is a push to increase revenue on resistration as these cars hold a higher value than a stock steel car of the period. SO I READ
  20. While I am not saying there may be difficulties and excess reserves..be aware that 68% of all statistics are made up on the spot..(just like this one was) Don't believe everything you hear..as an analyst for 16 years we could made any figure look good or bad according to what we were trying to sell/promote at the moment. The merger of Chrysler/Damiler to prevent a hostile takeover and concession made to protect the work force were never honored by the Damiler group..it is spiraling downhill..I have no silver bullet but hate to see such as this happening.
  21. Johnny..In the comment above your last entry by myself..I was still referring to the Frapper page..the map is not appearing though the individuals and their photos are still on the site.
  22. under members you can see all who signed on and their thumbnails..
  23. what did you call me???? lol
  24. I have more cars with white raised lettering and smaller whitewalls though the 54 with the WWW's this worked fine also..they were dingy and stained with red Georgia clay (that stuff is nasty) when I got it, this cleaned them up good. The stuff I use is trade name B52..it is a brown soap and I just spray it on...aggitate it with a paint brush and the road grime, brake residue and stuff just rolls right off...my local Ace hardware carries it..don't look for all Ace stores to have it as this is the only one that carries it in my area...they stock Ace line but not limited to just Ace products..that is the owner's choice.
  25. Yes Greg is maintaining the list of members that have said they could help should you be on the road and experience trouble. That list is generally guarded and upon request from a traveler..members along their intended route will be sent of line back to the requester. We also had a map where each person registered himself on the map and idnetified with a push pin..I have this link on my computer at home but for the life of me cannot remember the name of the site. Does anyone have that map handy???
