  1. My catalog from PLYDO is very old..it shows: spindles, set 320.00 r&p kit (did not list relcation shock mounts) part of FATMAN kit, 189.00 brake kit, brackets/bolts/bushings/spacers only 199.00
  2. If I remember right, didn't that set include not ust the brakes, but the R&P brackets, extensions and tapered shims, the 3 inch lowering spindles and the shock relocation brackets. Faily complet package..thing the spindles alone are a tad over 300.00
  3. think of current as you would beer...why sip when you can gulp...ok..its late..I worked too much in the sun doing yard work this evening.
  4. It is not the speed at which it is finsihed..it is the speed it will go when finished...
  5. now we know the secret to their longivety...lol
  6. Double check your distributor to be sure you are not 180 out..hopefully you can pull #1 plug and with finger over the hole determine compression stoke... With air, fuel and fire..oughta take off...
  7. Pat..16 is too light..especially with 6 and on some 12 volt circuits..even with all my new stuff in my 41, I still have plenty of 10 guage wires, even have a couple of 8 gauge in there as main feeders...16 guage and 12 volts upgrade with standard circuits that were normal with your car...may bet by..byt still recommend a bit havier on the headlights, generator/alternator field wires etc.
  8. Only tape that I am aware of getting gooey sticky is the old cloth electricians tape..it is a pain...if using regular vinyl electrical tape you will find it is a snap to use, clean and stays in place very well and protects your hearness...you can if you like just put a wrap at random with the tape..then ber the split hardshell covers to go over the harness. rather bulky and lacking in taste but doable.
  9. Either way is fine..your car... if you have a bud doing the welding..it may be best to go with what he is comfortable with doing. The body off is just a few hours by yourself..even less with a bud to help.
  10. Whatever you intend to do with this car, frame, clip etc. I highly suggest you fix in your mind the direction you intend to go and DO NOT try and change or back-up in midstream. And if you want a total nightmare on your hand, go with the 85 Fury clip...though workable, etc, the job is very invasive and I would not suggest this to a first time builder...not by any means..
  11. If you are rewiring stock it is simple and easy to repace your own harness...
  12. If you have new lifters and cam..by all mean run her for at least 30 minutes at above 2000 to 2500 rpm..this is crucial...make sure you have the water in the rad, no leaks..during cam break in should you find a leak..and you can just add a tad of water as you let her run..do that..the cams first run should be uninterupted...monitor your temp and oil pressure..look for all signs of leakage..tweak the carb and stuff later...do not forget to to retorque your head.
  13. At theme parks across America people line up for blocks just to pay good money for the thrill ride you experienced.
  14. Bulleyes were around 54 and up items I think...
  15. When he drove his car down to the house and I heard it running, it sounded very much like a V8..very nice lope, excellent muffler tone.
  16. could not find that data in either of my motors books.
  17. Larry...I am not sure of the high today..the AC kicked on about 3 times since supper...has bee a long time since it run...like that...send some coller temps my way..I kinda like the mid seventies... That wall sounds like it may be a bear to work with..hope they can get back out there and get it straight... You did not mention the car...did you get the engine set now..I think when we spoke last on the phone after you got the steering corrected that engine was next.
  18. here is mine that I bought just for the dash..I did not like the 41 style as well as the 46-48... And then this is the same pieces after a bit of polishing with 0000 steel wool...
  19. Brad..you missed a prime opportunity to show off the Chrome wiper knob...
  20. I run my car in the garage at times..in the paint booth is where I store it when not painting anything...use the exhaust fan when I do so. Same with the motorcycles as I rarely take them out on the road either..but they get started once in awhile. Would never do this without the exhaust fan for sure.
  21. Vivian ...PM sent..should open in different window..if does not check top right corner of page and click on private messages.
  22. for the cost..you should be able to find the fender trim, stay stock and look right..finding a HL/door similar without cutout and look right with the grille..not sure if you ever come out on top money time and trouble
  23. I believe you answered your own question when you stated going from tip toe shif M-series to the standard 3 speed with OD..just use the lower four..sure George would not have sent you something that would not work..only other suggestion would be standard fluid drive three speed bellhousing swap and do away with the tip toe set up altogether.
  24. Redoing this car and or buying a driver rests entirely on your motivitaion and personal skills. If everything here has to be farmed out to get it in working or cosmetically correct..you will be further ahead to buy one complete. If you have skills, shop, tools etc..this will be a really rewarding project. Returns will be in the area of "I did it myself" as the labor will be mostly lost and never able to recoup. The car as pictured shows a pretty ratty interior and will require complete makeover and the front grille looks to be pretty much bashed in. The rest of the trim appears to be on the vehicle, the body itself evident only of surface rust..rockers, and floor pans if intact will make the metal work quick and easy. Glass is cheap even if you get it tempered. Rubber seals are bit high for the glass. Did not see the dash pictured and the D24's have the prettiest dash out there in my opinion. Do a more complete walk around and list the 'NEEDS' per section..each door , each fender etc and see how it shapes up. As for the engine..making them run is not a big deal but having a runner is also a big step ahead...you did not mentions wether is is free or running. Brakes is another major investment bring one back from a 20 year storage..will require complete going over there also... So..look it over real close...do you have the time to put into this car? Once you start and take it all apart and should you lose interest..they be a bit tougher to get your money back for your time spent.
