  1. Most people who opt for shaved doors and yet do not use the keyless entry has a remote switch somewhere hidden and of course the spring loaded popper so the door will completely unlatch when triggered. As this is triggered by a relay a switch can be very very small and can actually activated by a short rod through a not-so apparant hole along the fuzzy strip
  2. Norm..the solenoids are not the problem...it is finding a remote multi-function keyless entry system to take full advantage of the shave aspect...Yes...my car is 12 volts..I have but one car running stock 6 volt system and that is the 54 Plymouth Savoy Club Coupe. HOw long that stays 6 volts depends upon how soon I install AC...
  3. You got a cool car regardless of no AC....not everyone has a Suburban.... When I got it picture....used Microsoft Paint to eliminate the junkyard this shot was taken in..that be the reason for a few funky lines...
  4. I have not seen this article but found the old rotary latches just to worn, and requiring too much pull and care not for cables..so went this route..quick and easy fix...stock inside handle still used... http://www430.pair.com/p15d24/mopar_forum/showthread.php?t=45
  5. With all due respect, but that looks like a Plymouth (blue car) in other words it may have Dodge written on it but the body is pure Plymouth..thus the rubber you got will not work due to both design and size..the D24 is a larger seal than the P15 (Dodge D25 export) car. I base this on the upper and lower clips that join the two trim halves, absence of an overlapping Dodge style center divider that eliminates the clips and the style trim that is attached to the rubber and not the trim that attaches to the pinch weld common to the Dodge. Then again it could be I cannot see the pictures clearly.
  6. It was my understanding that was one and the same only one is being middle man managed.
  7. I was just quoting from my book..I do think Bob T. spoke of vacuum on his convertible...funny that the book does not mention vacuum at all. page 264 body section, para. 28. So went to my Motors manual Dodge 1940 vacuum 41-48 Electric 1949-52 and 55 Hydro Electric 1953-54 Electric Chrysler/DeSoto 1940 Vacuum 1941-48 Electric 1949-55 Hydro-electric Plymouth 1940-48 Vacuum 1940-50 Deluxe Electric 1949-50 Sp Dlx Hydrao Electric 1951-54 Electric 1955 Hydro-electric per 1955 Motors manual...has good description of vacuum operation and service. Lou..I think you have this book at home in your back room...check out general repair, power tops.
  8. The P15 is an electric over hydraulic system..pump with forward/rev control, reservoir, operating switch with circuit breaker and the hydraulic cylinder. The later units were electro-mechanical with for/rev motor and twin cable drive out.
  9. Even before you start the engine..I give you an A+ in your detail and artistic abilities. This will definitely turn a few heads at the local cruises.
  10. the Honda CB1000 is a six cylinder bike with the carbs which are also 6 in mumber already mounted and synced on a single manifold with a single center throttle cable pull. Syncing these are not a problem and can be done without even being mounted to an engine...!
  11. I see you have a lot to learn about pugs Pat..that is the distant stare seen just prior to a vicious attack...these dogs are natural born killers...bred for fighting... She is still pretty chipper dog...still plays like a pup and is just showing her 13 years of age..hearing is a bit less than it used to be. Wife says I spoiled that dog...but hey, don't she deserve her own banana split? (less chocolate syrup), pets are supposed to be rotten...
  12. Lou..I have had excellent results using the sealing compound that helps keep my wood birning stove airtight..secret is letting it fully cure...was good seeing you yesterday...
  13. I did not take offense to the pug remark as an owner of five pug bitches..however this one is looking for you..score to settle or something like that....
  14. Tie rod boots are available through the HELP section at most parts houses... Wires needed, first positive cable goes to the forward most head bolt as this should be threaded for a bolt to go into..if not mount to a generator to block mounting bolt... Negative goes to the starter relay...other side to starter...you can then use a jumper wire to connect to the third small relay wire to input battery wire..relay must be grounded for this to work... Jumper battery to the coil...should be ready to start...
  15. How to say SUV without saying SUV....Rolls has always had a problem with words, they state a Roll Royce never breaks down...instead they use the words, "fails to proceed"
  16. Just my opinion, but, if you need to tell them anything, it is NOT to work on my engine as a good shop will have that data onhand and WILL reference it during the course of repair...basically..they will clean the block, inspect for cracks, bore minimum standard oversize..fit new cam bearing, new core plugs, inspect and turn the crank only if needed..undersize bearings are available for standard wear in .001, 002 and .003 to install on a micro-polished cranks that has not been scored. Cleanliness is the key...new chain, timing gears, oil pump...cam specs checked...probably the most important part of this is the piston fit, bore then last few thousands are hone fit for clearance..the valves should get all new exhaust..these get undercut too many times and are usually installed out of length. Guides are more than not a good investment at any time, never but never let a shop say they can knurl to fit..that is BS..short time fix at best..leave this for chevy engines that smoke at 2000 miles anyway..Piston ifit is key, piston lands are to be decoked..odds are these are about banged beyond as it is...new pistons and pins should be fit...anything less is not an rebuild but a refresh... If the shop has to ask for specs..leave and carry your engine with you.

  18. I'll take the barn after all you folks buy the goodies inside... Hey Brad..where you been hiding? Have you branched out in the restuarant business yet...I just can't wait till I get to Charleston for free meal..lol
  19. Charlie is working on reprodcing original Mopar adapters for the flattie using I think a 727 early model tranny. Wilcap I think has adapter for other applictions. Not a fan of cherry bomb brapp, is just a tad above rice-rocket "bugs in a jar" ...give me a deep throated rumble of a turbo pancake anyday...even a Smitty has a nice tone in comparison. What ever happened to the Thrush muffler of mid 60's fame...them and Smitty are dead on for each other in tone quality.
  20. another good use for the "offals" Don was talking about.
  21. You can hand file a groove in the flat with a jeweler's file and index the wheel as you see fit. However the job of the aligment shop is to center the steering wheel during alignment.
  22. Yeah..to match the one he leaves in your head....lol
  23. for some RTV today... I'll glady repay you Tuesday.....
  24. x-number of cars were allowed for production on war support production facalities and farms related business...I said what I did based on that..yes sedans and such would have gone to the military...business still operated in America..just on a lesser scale in the private sector.
