  1. Just my opinion, but, if you need to tell them anything, it is NOT to work on my engine as a good shop will have that data onhand and WILL reference it during the course of repair...basically..they will clean the block, inspect for cracks, bore minimum standard oversize..fit new cam bearing, new core plugs, inspect and turn the crank only if needed..undersize bearings are available for standard wear in .001, 002 and .003 to install on a micro-polished cranks that has not been scored. Cleanliness is the key...new chain, timing gears, oil pump...cam specs checked...probably the most important part of this is the piston fit, bore then last few thousands are hone fit for clearance..the valves should get all new exhaust..these get undercut too many times and are usually installed out of length. Guides are more than not a good investment at any time, never but never let a shop say they can knurl to fit..that is BS..short time fix at best..leave this for chevy engines that smoke at 2000 miles anyway..Piston ifit is key, piston lands are to be decoked..odds are these are about banged beyond as it is...new pistons and pins should be fit...anything less is not an rebuild but a refresh... If the shop has to ask for specs..leave and carry your engine with you.
  2. nla
  3. I'll take the barn after all you folks buy the goodies inside... Hey Brad..where you been hiding? Have you branched out in the restuarant business yet...I just can't wait till I get to Charleston for free meal..lol
  4. Charlie is working on reprodcing original Mopar adapters for the flattie using I think a 727 early model tranny. Wilcap I think has adapter for other applictions. Not a fan of cherry bomb brapp, is just a tad above rice-rocket "bugs in a jar" ...give me a deep throated rumble of a turbo pancake anyday...even a Smitty has a nice tone in comparison. What ever happened to the Thrush muffler of mid 60's fame...them and Smitty are dead on for each other in tone quality.
  5. another good use for the "offals" Don was talking about.
  6. You can hand file a groove in the flat with a jeweler's file and index the wheel as you see fit. However the job of the aligment shop is to center the steering wheel during alignment.
  7. Yeah..to match the one he leaves in your head....lol
  8. for some RTV today... I'll glady repay you Tuesday.....
  9. x-number of cars were allowed for production on war support production facalities and farms related business...I said what I did based on that..yes sedans and such would have gone to the military...business still operated in America..just on a lesser scale in the private sector.
  10. Smoke that wallet off your hip and spring for some RTV..I know you have to buy it for you never keep any remaining products left over from a previous job..sound like Coatney now don't I....lol Think sealing is the right approach..
  11. Standard production in off-war years were about 16,500 units per year for the business coupe.. as it is a Business Coupe I can see the war year having greater need in business verse the other road models.
  12. your standard Bosch minature relay that is common come in two configuartions..30 is load supply and 1. 87 is load NO contact 2. 87a is used if relay has NC contact...85 and 86 is control volatge...most application use ground for contol (86) with 85 tied to 30 for supply voltage. This is off the top of my head....you can mix and match as your circuit demands.
  13. My cabinet is a Scat Blast and is 60 inches wide and with the large loading door I only lose media dragging stuff in and out...you should have a open vent to the top of the cabinet somewhere Usually farthest point from vacuum port) for vacuum draft..ensure that this true and unobstructed..in operation, you should draw a paper towel tight against the inlet...if all this is true and working..then maybe sealing will help..Harbor Freight is not known for industrial quality..some tweaking is needed at times. It does allow Joe-Blow to get usualbe items at a hobbiest price.
  14. yeah...another 20 and the tin worms will have completed the task that the termites have almost accomplished...
  15. Always been a big difference in grille between the models....my 41 is butterfly design everywhere...the grille, hood and front gravel sheild, front bumper is butterfly...the 42 Plymouth you show is distinctly different than the 41 grille ..appears to have the center divider carry over from the 41 and the grille is same size bars compared to the post war which are alternating sizes... DeSoto is just so massive in the grille...BOLD...Chrysler is well, just Chrysler...no offense to you Chrysler owners. I think you see less of these so it is just not something one is very familar with.
  16. Thanks Greg...was tied up in a production meeting.....
  17. They are now sucking 12 volt energy...standard elements. They do light up nicely though when tested during the making of my wiring harness. I do have them fired from a relay...combo neutral/reverse switch in the tranny will last longer this way.
  18. Ed...we have a winner...these are Hella brand...the rear housing is that of the 356 Porsche, these were found mounted on a Renault R10 I understand...slightly different than the VW series. Due to their shape and size I found them more in line with the theme of the rear lights..
  19. Finding lights, and then mounting the lights is always a big concern because once cut..well..that is about it unless you are in the total rework stage as it is. I offset mine a bit as I thought it was a bit more eye-appealing.
  20. Should I have a few more beers before I start welding? I think you have had too many already.....then there are those who do this without "the beer"...
  21. My car has holes in the gravel pan for back up lights..no lights with the car..I found this pair of U.S. 400's at a swap meet in Charlotte
  22. oh yeah...Mucas McCain
  23. Greg in reality it is doing both..intaking from the engine and exhausting it to the pipe/muffler
  24. I also stopped several times to take tarpons off the road...I hate to see little lizards, frogs and turtles hit on the road.
  25. I interveened in WV on a mountain road..a mother possum had been hit..looked to be dead three days minimum..carcass was bone and hair basically..three baby possums were still clinging on...I picked them up, fed them that night and again in the morning with a dropper...thank goodness WV DNR has drop off points for abandoned/injured animals...they accepted them that morning...they were all ears...just could not leave them beside the road
