  1. Victor Patricio Palma Chavez, lives in Chile and posted a video of his truck on YouTube. It's a 1952 king cab Desoto. Have a look:
  2. Reg, the poly 318 is long gone. So is the cast iron 727 that was connected to it.
  3. Before I got my truck it had been converted to a Poly 318. But the engine was cracked during a deep freeze we had one winter. So I am installing a 360 that came from a 72 dodge van. Backed with a 518 tranny.

  5. The 610T radio is like the tooth fairy and the Easter bunny. It only exists if you believe real hard! I believe, I believe, I believe! If you ever do find one, make sure you get both halves. The other half has the speaker and some other tubes.
  6. Looks like a good days work. The nice thing about these trucks is you can do them on a tight budget and some ingenuity.
  7. Your input is always welcome, but some like to just follow the conversation quietly. Either way works.

  9. There should be one on the front of the frame. This should help: http://http://dodgepilothouseclub.org/know/vin/model.htm
  10. I had to drive out of California and almost to the Washington border get my white oak. Anything other than red oak around here cost a fortune. Since my truck bed will be "too pretty" to haul anything serious I'm also building a matching truck bed trailer to haul serious stuff in.
  11. Once again it's getting near that time for our once a month online chat session. It took a vacation this summer, so time to get back on and see how we're all doing. 12. Got this note from Walt Hoffman. Since I've never had to work on the rear axle I didn't have an answer, so I bring it to the experts here: "Does any one have a better idea in taking the yoke off the rear end. I dropped the drive line, remove the cotter pin and removed the nut. I could not get it off with two different pullers. Am I missing something? "
  13. The info you want is here: http://dodgepilothouseclub.org/know/know.htm scroll down to "information to cut your own truck bed lumber"
  14. Chrysler announced today that they will continue to build the viper. No matter that I can't afford on. http://media.chrysler.com/newsrelease.do;jsessionid=9CA9EEA23D9D792F67328C1E8EDCBC56?id=8889&mid=1

  16. The radio you're looking for is model 610T. Lots of luck finding one.
  17. Hey, it at some time was good enough to be used for AAA towing. I think you need it too.
  18. Half the fun of owning these trucks are the people we meet along the way. I;ve had people stop by my driveway while I was working on my truck because they had some old truck themselves.
  19. Part number worked. Go to the 1948-56 truck section: http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb.dll?userwatch~dynamicSearchPage~cadefffC Copy and paste the part number: BAAA-16126
  20. Harvey, you might try Antique Radio Supply: http://www.tubesandmore.com/
  21. Take a look here: http://www.t137.com/registry/help/engine/engine.htm and here: http://http://www.t137.com/registry/help/otherengines/otherengines.php
  22. Here's a 1929 Pontiac pickup I found through google:
  23. I've looked at the grill pieces I have for my '53 many times. I don't really think it would be that hard to bend stainless sheet metal to the correct shape. What has stopped me is figuring how to do the light housings.
