  1. Here Mike...your prayers have been answered. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1946-1947-1948-Plymouth-Hood-Ornament-Light-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem255a2395b3QQitemZ160426071475QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
  2. Thanks, Tim. I have a feeling this is where the problem lies, but won't know until I open it up.
  3. That's what my buddy was thinking it sounded like. If this is the case, does it mean the clutch has to be relaced or just replace the spring? Also, what causes the springs to break or fall out? I thought they were in there pretty well.
  4. I have developed a rattling sound to that of how it sounds when loose change is in the clothes dryer. It doesn't to seem to affect the way the car handles or shifts, but it sounds like it's in the bell housing. It tends to be more prevelent when first starting out in 1st and then in second, then seems to go away after that, but will occasionally come back for a short instant while cruising. It won't make the sound when stopped with the motor running and pushing in the clutch while it's making the noise won't stop it either. Sounds like something has broken off from something and is moving around loosely inside the bell housing, possibly. Any opinions of what it might be?
  5. Thanks, Barabbas! Appreciate it.
  6. I also have the HEI in my '47 Club Coupe and have been very happy with it, but once in a while the engine will cut out while in motion after taking off from a stop. It was doing it a lot last year so I took it to the mechanic to have him check out the electrical system and he nothing was showing up negative. So he thought it may have been in the chip and he took it out, looked it over and said it seemed fine. After he put it back in, it never cut out again until just last week. So, I don't know if the chip is wearing out or not. What is the life of these electronic ignition chips?

  8. The conversion kit doesn't seem badly priced, but what is all involved with the conversion? I mean, for those of you that have purchased Charlie's kit, how much extra did the other parts cost, as well as the conversion? What are we looking at here and what all is involved for the complete conversion?
  9. Yeah, I was quoted about $165 per new drum. Ouch!
  10. Randy, Thanks for your offer! I just contacted Charlie to check out his kit. I'm going to look into this conversion thing, as you mentioned, before deciding on accepting your drums, but I may need the ones for the back, if you can part with two. Darin
  11. Got the bad news that my brake drums are too thing to turn anymore. My question is whee do they sell new drum braks for our P15's. I'm at the fork in the road where either I can install new drums in the front of convert to disk. Let me know where to get the drums and also your opinion of converting over. I searched on here already for any posts about where to purchase new drums but didn't come up with anything.
  12. That looks like Josh's car out in Redlands that he was selling.
  13. Well, being it's from Tennessee, looks like the state troupers are about to move in on some hillbilly moonshine operation.
  14. One step ahead of you, Greg. I had already checked out that link on here, but nothing stating where one could be purchased. I will look up the damper doctor and see what they may have. Thanks!
  15. (I'm asking this for a buddy of mine)... Does anyone know where we can get a crankshaft pulley vibration damper for a 1953 Plymouth Cranbrook? I've tried Bernbaum's, Napa & Car Quest with no luck. Who may sell these?
  16. Unfortunately, Johnny, there have been a couple or so on here that don't feel the way you do. They find it an inconvenience if someone asks a question that has already been asked. I, myself, have been chewed out by a couple members for asking a question about something that had already been posted or because I didn't "get" something because it was explained to me in technical, not layman's, terms. I'm very grateful to those, like you, that don't seem to have a problem with helping someone out with a question or problem.
  17. I've seen Grease so many times and never have seen a P15 in there, no matter how hard I tried to look for one. I think it would have made a better Greased Lightning than a Ford would have. LOL!
  18. While watching an old movie on TV last night, I was surprised to see this P-15 Special Deluxe coupe pull out of a driveway and into the street. I didn't know what the movie was called, but I noticed an actress named Loretta Young driving the car. So I went on the internet and researched her movies and found that it was a 1951 movie called "Cause For Alarm." I found it on an internet movie database and have linked the only part that shows the car. It's seen at the beginning of the clip and lasts for about a minute before the rest of the movie continues on. The car is only seen in this scene through out the whole movie...so enjoy! http://www.archive.org/details/cause_for_alarm_1951?start=3599.5 PS: This may not play on all computers, especially if you don't have javascript.

  20. Nevermind...I figured it out.
  21. Rob...my speedometer is not off by that much, if at all. The needle does tend to move back and forth a fourth of an inch or so, but is pretty much in the correct range. You also have to remember that people on California freeways average 75-85 mph. Therefore, that's why they were passing you. With the compression as low as it is in those two cylinders, I think you push that car a little too much on the freeway, especially by the way I see the puffs of smoke come out of your muffler at times. Did you ever find out where that oil was coming from out of the back?
  22. Hmmmm...I missed something here.
  23. I have photos given to me by a gentleman that had a 1947 Ply Special Deluxe and towed a 40 ft. trailer with it from Santa Monica, California to North Virginia and back in 1952. He said when he got back he had to replace the transmission...go figure.
  24. As far as I know it is, Greg. In fact, the cable has a little slack in it.
  25. Okay....it seems I have a good list now of what look for, thanks to all your guyses imput so far. The motor mounts and drive shaft were replaced four years ago when the engine was rebuilt. First thing I'm going to do is check the sparkplugs, wires and make sure the electronic ignition is set right. As mentioned, it could be missing too. Basically, I should just give it a tune up and see if that solves it. If not, then I know that I nned to go to the other steps. Yesterday, I noticed that when I accelerate I still have the vibration, but when I let off the gas and coasted, the vibration was stronger. Now, I'm confused. This only happens on the surface streets. When I'm on the freeway at faster speeds, I don't get the vibration when I let off the gas. So this weekend I will be going down the checklist and see what I can find. Anymore, ideas will be appreciated.
