  1. If you're going to do that you might as well paint "Sh-Boom" on the side of your car as well. I think the original, clear plastic ones look the best, and they are always on Ebay. Sometimes you can get the whole ornament with the plastic cheaper than the plastic itself.
  2. You've got a lot guys on here, including myself, that are looking for one. So your chances of finding someone on here willing to sell one are about as great as your chances finding someone on here with an extra clock willing to sell, as well. Of course, $$$$$$$ talks...right guys?
  3. Thanks, Don. I'll see if I can find one of those. BTW...where did you get that one or where can one get one?
  4. Thanks, Bob. Yeah, that shows the area, but the part I was trying to see is covered up by the clip (14-07-4) in this illustration, which did fall off when I was trying to fit the bolt through it. I have it saved, but not sure how it goes back on.
  5. Yeah, Randy, if you get a chance I would be interested in seeing what you developed. Thanks! Darin
  6. Was toolin' down the road yesterday with a buddy and when I went to step on the gas pedal to accelerate, we heard a pop and the gas pedal went straight to the ground. At the same time the car stopped accelerating and I pulled over. When I looked down to see what happened I noticed that the linkage from the gas pedal to the throttle was disconnected and hanging. Apparently, there was a bolt that held them together, but it was long gone, so luckily we were near a Lowe's and I bought a bolt and nut to temporarily hold the to linkages together. The irony is that I was just about to get on the freeway before that happened. Can you imagine if had happened then? It wouldn't have been a pretty picture, that's for sure. Anyway, the bolt seems to be holding, but like I said, it's a temporary thing. Does anyone have a illustrated diagram of what went there originally? There is a little flap the closes over something, but won't do it now because the bolt is too long that the original piece that went there.
  7. I would be surprised if any of the plastic ones still exist. They would probably disintegrate if you even try to put some NOS ones on.
  8. LOL...you're funny, Mondo. I think the heat is getting to you, man. Turn on that swamp cooler, close the garage door and open up a cool one.
  9. LOL...I outbid someone, but it wasn't by a little, old $1. This was the second pair I bidded for on Ebay. The first pair I bidded on didn't fit, so I need to list them on Ebay, but they don't fit our cars.
  10. You're right, Bob. The first one I put on I started to take it off from the outside edges with a screw driver and noticed that I was bending the ring a little. I managed to get it off and fix the bends, but they are fragile.
  11. Yes, Ralph. That answers my question. Thanks again for posting that! Darin
  12. BTW...do these rings pop off easy? They weren't cheap and I can't go out and get more if they do. Also, what is an easy way of taking them off without bending them, since I noticed how thin the metal is. They seem pretty snug, but I was wondering if the brakes were to ever get hot would they somehow come loose?
  13. Thanks, Ralph. I would love to have the bias ply once again, but I'm now spoiled with the nice ride of the radials. Do you have a pic showing them on your P15?
  14. Here's a Lyon ad and some pics showing the witewalls on some P15's from back then.
  15. Picked up a set of original Lyon steel whitewalls on Ebay a couple of weeks ago to put on my blackwall radials. Though they were in good shape, they needed to be sanded, primered and repainted. Doing some research on these things, it seems that many Chrysler cars sported these from the the dealerships back in 1947 and 1948, maybe after too, but not sure. I have seen a lot of old pics of P15s with these on them instead of regular whitewalls, but haven't seen Chevys or Fords from that era using them. Would be nice to know why. Anyway, I slapped them on today and they look like a million bucks. They seem like they will hold well, but I'm afraid that since they hang over the edge of the rim about 1/8 of an inch, that the radial may bow out too much and pop them off when hitting a bump. Trying to think of a way to keep them on there secure without drilling a hole through them. They sure add an authentic look. The only problem is that that a couple of the rims have rust marks from where the stainless beauty rings used to be. Might have to have those repainted. Also, the lettering on the radials kind of stand out, unfortunately. See what you think. BTW...is anyone else on here sportin' these on their cars?
  16. You got my vote, too, Tony. BTW...here's a good campaign song for ya! LOL!
  17. Man, we could sure use SOME of that rain out here in So.Cal. Weather forecasts predict 105-107 through this Saturday, and it seems like they are right on target, so far. No brush fires near me because most of the brush burned in 2002-2003.
  18. Okay...double duh. Someone had a tree fall on theirs a while back. Yours does look like it would be a good canidate for it, though.
  19. Okay...duh! This was the one with the tree fell on. I forgot about that. LOL
  20. Ok...now we are pinning this down. BTW...where is the diode located?
  21. Not sure if that is what these are called, but the car has been bottoming out in the front when crossing an intersection where there is a slight dip. It's not the shocks because they are not that old, but these rubber bumpers are missing. Even though I go slow over it, it sounds like I hit it at a fast rate of speed. Anyone know where I can get a pair of these?
  22. I also forgot to mention that the lights get brighter as I rev the engine at a stop light and then fade a little when it goes back into an idle. I have a 12 volt system and rebuilt GM alternator and was converted and rewired about 4 years ago. Is this a sign that the alternator is going out because it didn't start doing this until about two months ago, but seems to be getting worse. It's a rebuilt GM one.
  23. Just wanted to run this by you guys and see if someone might know why when I push in my brake pedal, while driving at night, why all the other lights (headlights, dome, instrument panel...etc.) tend to dim slightly while the brake pedal is engaged? This also happens when I honk the horn. Even when I have the directional signal on, the lights slightly dim off and on with the blinking. Is this normal?

  25. I think my biggest fear is the person who's waiting to make a left hand turn in my path. Those are the ones that make me nervous
