  1. Thanks for the input on what you did. I'll try to get a picture of the "cradle" stand I built for my cab with some scrap materials at the house when I get home tonight. I can't upload pics to the site from work.
  2. When you say cradled in a dolly, do you mean on the outer sides, the main contact points, or did you build a special frame? Thanks for the input so far though.
  3. Los_Control, as I sit now, I'm down to a rolling chassis. I have my cab sitting on the frame now, simply for storage purposes. My intentions of getting all plumbing, and frame stuff done prior to final installation of the cab after it's body worked, painted etc. I'm also in an extremely dry and hot climate too. When it comes to "undercoating" I haven't fully decided what option I'm going with. As for floor repairs needed, there's a seam on the pasg floor where the firewall meets the floor, and a couple small open holes in the pasg floor. Really not as bad as it could be. I'll work on some pics of current floor situation though.
  4. Moving along with things, and getting ready to start working on the needed floor repairs, and getting the underside of the cab cleaned up, sealed and undercoated. Looking for some pics or suggestions of how to get at it. I tried the search function looking for cab floor and found 117 posts with the term, only 2 pics of cabs. 1 on the firewall, 1 on the rear which option is better and why? Looking for some more pics, suggestions. I already figured I'll need to put in some bracing between the A pillar and B pillar to keep things square. Thanks in advance. Eric
  5. Brad, You are correct the cab was removed for awhile, we set it back down on the frame to save some space. As for the rust, it's 98% surface rust, there's only a few actual cancerous rust spots on the entire truck.
  6. Well, it's been awhile since I posted any progress. Been slow going, but managed to get the front clip pulled apart. With some help from Brad, the Rusty Hope kit is mostly installed. No need to install caliper and pads till the MC and brake lines are ready for install. Got some work done on the frame too, all but under the cab is now painted. Still waiting on my donor rear axle to become available. New tie rod ends are on order, then we'll figure out the next step in the process.
  7. Those look very close to my '54 C-1-C. Only difference was mine were all washer/spacer/washer. Came apart as 3 pieces. You are correct on the Left Front being an odd ball too. Same size upper bushing, no sleeve and larger/shorter diameter bolt.
  8. It wasn't on one of these old trucks, but I just witnessed a broken spring on the flex plate 2 months ago. My step boys have an 87 Dodge with a 4 speed in it. They had the same problem where they couldn't get into any gear without grinding. They pulled the clutch inspection cover and the spring was laying in the bottom. Then it took them 4 attempts to get the correct clutch, but that's another story.
  9. Learned that lesson by killing a bit. Gonna get a new on and go as slow as possible. Got 1 1/2 of the 4 done though.
  10. It may come to that, the 10" press and multiple clamps is being difficult. Gonna try again today after the house starts moving and few house projects are done. Thanks. Eric
  11. Brad, Did you have issues getting the steering arms drilled out with the Rusty Hope kit? That is the issue I've ran into with mine. I got everything on the spindles drilled and tapped with out issues. Getting those 9/16" holes opened up is the new challenge. Might be needing new bits to try again...….
  12. Thanks for the insight, tools are on the way, will advise when completed.
  13. Machine shop is on hold for budget right now. Got into doing the Rusty Hope front disc conversion. Could only get partially done. Will have a 1/2" chuck drill and drill press tomorrow to finish it up. Can already tell it's going to be fun trying to thread the required lower holes with the spindles still on the truck. 7/8 of a turn, then reset the tap handle on the tap. gonna be a slow process there. Anyone have a PN # for a spindle nut from Napa with the center hole that was recommended by Rusty?
  14. I've talked to them about getting work done on my block, and will most likely stay in the Springs with either Rocky Mtn or Ehnes Enk. Both had faster turn around times than Highside. Just waiting on the truck fund to build back up. Yes, I'm in the Springs. Security actually. Not to far from 25 and S Academy exit.
  15. That is an NP420, It should be syncro'd. like my '54 C1C based on the info I found with the drain and fill plug locations. Your casting # matches mine with a date stamp of 6-16-53, my cover casting # is C-89989, date stamp 7-24-53. I was able to find some parts for it through Vintage Power Wagons (listed in the Vendors Posting) . You just have to read into it their breakdown on vehicles. Also extremely helpful on the phone with getting you the right stuff.
  16. I talked with a guy in Pueblo a few months back. Saw the "shop" and equipment, was very knowledgeable of the old stuff and willing to work with budget and other requests. Being that I want to reassemble my engine after machine work completed to get kids involved with the internals and operations. Eric
  17. The 2nd pictured is a 4 speed NP420 that I have in my '54. The casing number is the same as mine and Merle is right that it's a later synchro'd model.
  18. Hose itself, found it on Rock auto somehow.... thanks.
  19. Continued parts research to revive my '54 CIC, what are folks using for a lower radiator hose? Please advise. Thanks. Eric
  20. Hope not too, was 1st time doing 'em….. Time will tell.
  21. Got the block tanked through a self service shop at work for $20.00 and 2 hours of my time. Just need the machine shop to do measurement on cylinders, honing, and measurements for bearings.
  22. Got the freeze plugs installed yesterday, used the adhesive sealant during install. Also got the block painted with engine primer. Still gotta get it into the machine shop, but small steps forward is something.
  23. Never knew about that trick. Thanks.
