  1. Sorry Dave I'm from Minnesota. For some reason there seems to be a rivalry between the 2 states. You have to admit though you have a lot of cows in your state. Hence it being called the 'Dairy State'. One thing I do miss here in England is Colby Cheese
  2. Cheese Heads are people from Wisconsin. They use to wear cheese head hats at football games.
  3. Hmm not heard that one yet. I have heard about the Big End. We would say the engine through a rod. They say the Big End is gone.
  4. The quote came from an interview with George Bernard Shaw. It is a very true statement I can tell you. As an engineer I had to learn new terms for things. Allen Wrenches? NO, Allen Keys. They had no understanding of Allen Wrenches. They do have a wonderful expression for a slightly disrespectful person but in a charming or amusing way. They call him a 'Cheeky Fellow' or just Cheeky
  5. You should be in England. Cresent Wrench is an Adjustable spanner Wrench = Spanner Faggets = Something you eat Gas = Petro LP = Gas Pipe Wrench = Stillsons Channel Locks = Adjustable plyers Open End Box Wrench = Combination Spanner Windshield = Windscreen Hood = Bonnet Trunk = Boot I am married to a Wonderful English Lady and sometimes I do not understand what she is saying and sometimes (most times) she doesn't understand me. Conversations are interesting at times.
  6. I'm glad your in Washington and I'm in England. If I was any closer and sat idle for any amount of time I might end up painted Black and Blue. LOL
  7. I use to use this on my 65 Barracuda and 74 Dodge Charger. I thought it was a much better set up and more accurate.
  8. That's good advice, I will keep that in mind.
  9. Is this tab cast? If it is trying to bend it may break it. I would look first at why it is not in the groove and go from there.
  10. I'll take your left overs. Not many parts for these old American cars in England.?
  11. Thanks Sniper, I know the carb was rebuilt in 2017 by the previous owner. One thing I have learned here is, "American parts, whats that"? If it isn't European they don't know. Back home in MN I could go to 10,000 Auto parts and say I need one of these. They usually had what I needed. Here even though they say they are a NAPA dealer they don't deal with many parts from the US.
  12. LOL I had to laugh at this. I can't bring myself to use the word 'Petrol' over here even though I've been here 24 years. I'm from Minnesota. I get many strange looks here when I say, I need to get some gas.
  13. I have often said that in all of my 51 years of driving I would much rather drive our 37 Plymouth than any other car. It too make my Wife and I smile everytime we get in it. I also can relate about just sitting it and breathing in all that aroma. We often will sin Willy Nelsons song, On the Road Again while driving. I love the interior and am sure the rest of the car looks great too!
  14. Thanks Sniper. My 230 is also set at 5BTDC. I am also running an electric fuel pump. I will have 2 pumps installed just in case one packs up and leaves me stranded. My biggest concern was the alcohol eating away at the carb.
  15. Thanks for that. Will I have to change any timing with either the 10% or if I use the higher octane?
  16. As of September 1, in the UK they have changed our fuel from 5% alcohol to 10%. !0% fuel has an octane rating of 95. If we want to run the 5% fuel that is rated at 99-102 octane. My question then is, is the 10% alcohol going to do any damage and what can I expect from running a higher octane fuel. My engine is a 51/52 230 cu in single carb. Thanks
  17. My spring broke on the drivers door and I have replaced this spring. In putting it all back together, the door handel won't pull back the latch so I took it all apart and found very worn parts. Are parts available or do I need a new latch assembly? If new latch assembly where can I get one. There aren't to many of these cars around here in England. I was wondering if anyone might have a spare?
  18. The winters are one of the things I miss. In England I have seen roses bloom in December. I know a few Sven and Ole jokes and a few Iowa ones. Whats the difference between Iowa woman and cattle?.................About 5 pounds! How are you getting on with your car?
  19. Dad, I'm from Minnesota now living in England. Do you have any good Minnesota jokes?
  20. My 37 Plymouth origionally came with a radio. It wasn't there when I bought it. I don't miss it though. Just the sound of the exhaust (origonal Cherry Bomb) and tranny when I can hear it over the exhaust is music enough.
  21. Thanks Pete, I thought as much. I think I will get strips of paper and place them around the window and adjust and pull the strips. I really cant see any other way of doing it. Thats for yours and everyones imput.
  22. Hi Pete, yes you would be correct My 37 does crank out. The windshield and seals are all new. The window had to have some work done on it back in 2017 by the previous owner. I had to partially remove the head liner to repair the electric wipers and noticed there are 2 adjustment on each end of the windshield. This leak can be quite bad and drips down onto the carpet it also has stained the headliner in that area. Because I do not have a service manual I was wondering if there is a proceduer for adjusting it.
  23. Hi guys, My windshield on the passenger side leaks water inside. Could someone tell me how to properly adyust the windshield? Thanks
  24. It shouldn't make a difference if it is negitive or positive ground. It is only a simple circuit. Switches and a coil. It sounds like you are missing a complete circuit when things get hot. I would make sure all grounding is clean and no paint or rust. I hooked up my single horn to 12 vdc and had no problems, but I do not need a relay since it is a single horn. When your horn stops working Check the voltage to the relay coil - no voltage check horn button and follow it back. Check the voltage at the coil on the horn. No voltage - check voltage at relay to horn. no voltage - check the relay coil using ohms setting. no reading? bad coil. Good luck
  25. Thanks Lloyd I'll get right on it.
