  1. My spring broke on the drivers door and I have replaced this spring. In putting it all back together, the door handel won't pull back the latch so I took it all apart and found very worn parts. Are parts available or do I need a new latch assembly? If new latch assembly where can I get one. There aren't to many of these cars around here in England. I was wondering if anyone might have a spare?
  2. The winters are one of the things I miss. In England I have seen roses bloom in December. I know a few Sven and Ole jokes and a few Iowa ones. Whats the difference between Iowa woman and cattle?.................About 5 pounds! How are you getting on with your car?
  3. Dad, I'm from Minnesota now living in England. Do you have any good Minnesota jokes?
  4. My 37 Plymouth origionally came with a radio. It wasn't there when I bought it. I don't miss it though. Just the sound of the exhaust (origonal Cherry Bomb) and tranny when I can hear it over the exhaust is music enough.
  5. Thanks Pete, I thought as much. I think I will get strips of paper and place them around the window and adjust and pull the strips. I really cant see any other way of doing it. Thats for yours and everyones imput.
  6. Hi Pete, yes you would be correct My 37 does crank out. The windshield and seals are all new. The window had to have some work done on it back in 2017 by the previous owner. I had to partially remove the head liner to repair the electric wipers and noticed there are 2 adjustment on each end of the windshield. This leak can be quite bad and drips down onto the carpet it also has stained the headliner in that area. Because I do not have a service manual I was wondering if there is a proceduer for adjusting it.
  7. Hi guys, My windshield on the passenger side leaks water inside. Could someone tell me how to properly adyust the windshield? Thanks
  8. It shouldn't make a difference if it is negitive or positive ground. It is only a simple circuit. Switches and a coil. It sounds like you are missing a complete circuit when things get hot. I would make sure all grounding is clean and no paint or rust. I hooked up my single horn to 12 vdc and had no problems, but I do not need a relay since it is a single horn. When your horn stops working Check the voltage to the relay coil - no voltage check horn button and follow it back. Check the voltage at the coil on the horn. No voltage - check voltage at relay to horn. no voltage - check the relay coil using ohms setting. no reading? bad coil. Good luck
  9. Thanks Lloyd I'll get right on it.
  10. Thanks Lloyd, any Idea of the make or the person you bought it off of?
  11. The thermostate I am looking for looks like the one on the right. It is 2.5 " at the flange. I have checked NAPA here in England and they do not carry thermostates and I can not get on the US site.
  12. My engine is a 51-52 Dodge car engine. The thermostate I bought from Andy B did not fit, it was too small even though I specified the correct engine year.
  13. It sounds like I have a 1 in a million wife. We share the same likes and dislikes in almost everything. She loves driving our Plymouth or just going out in her for any reason, many times to Mac & Don's for an Ice Cream. Had I bought the Model A, in England it would have been just another old car. We get lots of admirers with our Plymouth and almost always people take photos of the car. Once a policeman asked me what make the car was and then took a photo of it. It turned up on their public web page. We went to a car show and met a man & wife with a beautiful 1933 Rolls Royce. His wife said she liked our car better. I'm glad I listened to my wife. Sometimes she has a better head on her shoulders than me.
  14. I need a bit of help from across the pond. I am in need of a 180 deg thermostate for my 230 dodge engine. I have purchased 1 from Andy Bernbaum and 1 from Rockauto. Neither one fit. I have the external bypass and the flange is 2 5/8" dia. Could someone tell me a part number of the correct stat? I have been to several Auto Stores here in England but unless I have a part number they are unable or unwilling to help.
  15. when was the last time she asked you tp pick out her dress hand bag and shoes.. My wife always asks my opinion on clothing. I guess we have a mutual respect for each other and love doing things together. That includes helping with the car when required. When we bought our 37 Plymouth I was actually looking at a Model a fordoor. Sherry (my wife) liked the 37 better. I have to agree with her. We have been married for 26 years and she is my best friend. Why wouldn't I want her opinion?
  16. I noticed on the internet a 37 plymouth with skirts. I liked the looks of them and was concidering getting a pair. Then I remembered a very important detail, I ask my wife. She was not too keen on them. Well... actually she said no way! Lesson: Always ask the wife first and save the hassel.
  17. Thanks Dodge. That is exactly what I needed to know
  18. I have broken the thermostat housing mounting stud off in the head of my D42 engine. Does anyone know the thread size and how deep the hole in the head is?
  19. LOL I thought I was the only one that did that.
  20. I did contact Don's Auto Parts however when looking at my spring and matching it up I find my spring is from a 38. The 37 spring is a different size. Thanks for the advice. I looked on the internet and found a photo of a 36-38 latch assembly. So it looks like I have to pull the assembly. Maybe I was too cautious but over here you don't have many luxuries if something goes wrong.
  21. By door spring I mean the door handle coil spring. Right now the door will not latch. Not good for going around corners especially right handed ones.
  22. My drivers door spring has broken. I am trying to figure out where it goes as it fell out of the door. I tried looking at the passenger side for a reference but I can't see it in there. Before I remove the whole latch mechanism I would like to understand where this spring goes. Also are the rear door spring the same as the front?
  23. If you get to the bottom of this you should get a badge. Badges? We don't need no stinking badges! Sorry I couldn't resist it. I use this all the time when my wife tells me to do something. "Garbage? We don't need no stinking garbage!"
  24. I'm wondering what the diameter of the old drum was compared to it being resurfaced. It would be smaller in diameter but is it too small now?
  25. Does anyone have a drawing or photo of the door spring? I see that there are 2 springs, an upper and a lower. I have broken the drivers door spring. When I went to find a replacement, I see that the dimensions of the one that came from my car is a 38 spring. Also I see that the lower spring is of a different shape. Are the springs in the back door the same as the front?
