  1. Thanks Lloyd, any Idea of the make or the person you bought it off of?
  2. The thermostate I am looking for looks like the one on the right. It is 2.5 " at the flange. I have checked NAPA here in England and they do not carry thermostates and I can not get on the US site.
  3. My engine is a 51-52 Dodge car engine. The thermostate I bought from Andy B did not fit, it was too small even though I specified the correct engine year.
  4. It sounds like I have a 1 in a million wife. We share the same likes and dislikes in almost everything. She loves driving our Plymouth or just going out in her for any reason, many times to Mac & Don's for an Ice Cream. Had I bought the Model A, in England it would have been just another old car. We get lots of admirers with our Plymouth and almost always people take photos of the car. Once a policeman asked me what make the car was and then took a photo of it. It turned up on their public web page. We went to a car show and met a man & wife with a beautiful 1933 Rolls Royce. His wife said she liked our car better. I'm glad I listened to my wife. Sometimes she has a better head on her shoulders than me.
  5. I need a bit of help from across the pond. I am in need of a 180 deg thermostate for my 230 dodge engine. I have purchased 1 from Andy Bernbaum and 1 from Rockauto. Neither one fit. I have the external bypass and the flange is 2 5/8" dia. Could someone tell me a part number of the correct stat? I have been to several Auto Stores here in England but unless I have a part number they are unable or unwilling to help.
  6. when was the last time she asked you tp pick out her dress hand bag and shoes.. My wife always asks my opinion on clothing. I guess we have a mutual respect for each other and love doing things together. That includes helping with the car when required. When we bought our 37 Plymouth I was actually looking at a Model a fordoor. Sherry (my wife) liked the 37 better. I have to agree with her. We have been married for 26 years and she is my best friend. Why wouldn't I want her opinion?
  7. I noticed on the internet a 37 plymouth with skirts. I liked the looks of them and was concidering getting a pair. Then I remembered a very important detail, I ask my wife. She was not too keen on them. Well... actually she said no way! Lesson: Always ask the wife first and save the hassel.
  8. Thanks Dodge. That is exactly what I needed to know
  9. I have broken the thermostat housing mounting stud off in the head of my D42 engine. Does anyone know the thread size and how deep the hole in the head is?
  10. LOL I thought I was the only one that did that.
  11. I did contact Don's Auto Parts however when looking at my spring and matching it up I find my spring is from a 38. The 37 spring is a different size. Thanks for the advice. I looked on the internet and found a photo of a 36-38 latch assembly. So it looks like I have to pull the assembly. Maybe I was too cautious but over here you don't have many luxuries if something goes wrong.
  12. By door spring I mean the door handle coil spring. Right now the door will not latch. Not good for going around corners especially right handed ones.
  13. My drivers door spring has broken. I am trying to figure out where it goes as it fell out of the door. I tried looking at the passenger side for a reference but I can't see it in there. Before I remove the whole latch mechanism I would like to understand where this spring goes. Also are the rear door spring the same as the front?
  14. If you get to the bottom of this you should get a badge. Badges? We don't need no stinking badges! Sorry I couldn't resist it. I use this all the time when my wife tells me to do something. "Garbage? We don't need no stinking garbage!"
  15. I'm wondering what the diameter of the old drum was compared to it being resurfaced. It would be smaller in diameter but is it too small now?
  16. Does anyone have a drawing or photo of the door spring? I see that there are 2 springs, an upper and a lower. I have broken the drivers door spring. When I went to find a replacement, I see that the dimensions of the one that came from my car is a 38 spring. Also I see that the lower spring is of a different shape. Are the springs in the back door the same as the front?
  17. Sniper,My first car was a 65 barracuda. 225 slant 6, auto. Best car I ever owned. Started every time in winter and I lived in Minnesota -27 degrees was nothing. My 37 Plymouth is driven on a daily basses too. Just not in the rain or when they decide to put salt on the roads.
  18. *Thanks for all the information but now I have another question. I see there is an upper and a lower spring. Where do they go? Is there a diagram or something that tells me a bit about the inside of the door latching mechanism? Also my car is a 37 but it seems that the 38 is different. I mention this because the dimension of my broken spring is for a 38.
  19. Thanks Sniper, I have found a few on ebay. The problem is the huge price for shipping that little part to England.
  20. Hello guys, I have just broken the coil spring for the door latch. Where can I get one or maybe 4? Who knows when the rest will go. Thanks Steve
  21. I'll have to take them both out then. Thanks
  22. Thanks for that. This was my thought as well but here in Merry Old England they don't cater to American cars too much. It's worth a try though.
  23. When I got my 37 Plymouth it came with the ignition key only. The door and the trunk do not have keys. I have looked on line but to pay hundreds of dollars is not in my budget. Any ideas? Thanks as always for your help!
  24. Well you got me there but he was born June 10, 1623 in Ruddington, Nottingham County, England, and died February 22, 1700 in Groton, Middlesex Cty., Massachusets
  25. My wife took me to see Kenilworth Castle. It is a ruin now but what is fun is to try to piece it back together in my mind. Then look for odds and ends like kitchen tiles, door posts/pivots and such. I found a piece of plaster from the walls. It contains horse hair and was painted. I like it much more than Warwick Castle which is complete.
