  1. Moved to the new building my paint/body guy built. I spent quite a few weekends helping build that building this last summer.

  3. As mentioned in another thread, the splash panels are now installed. I'll be assembling the hood sections in the near future and once it's installed the front end sheet metal of the truck will be done done. I do have a little bit of electrical work up front and a few other small odds and ends but that's about it for the front. Next task will be to wrap up the interior which is mostly just the interior trim panels. Looks like I'm going to have to get the title work done so I can get plates I spent a few hours last week cleaning, removing the old paint, polishing and repainting the Job-Rated medallion. I'm fairly happy with how it came out. It's got it's share of blemishes but for a 75 year old chrome piece it's not to bad.

  4. Just be aware, if you got the lifters to move a smidge, but not the crank .... could be a spun bearing and why the engine was parked. Legend has it, Grandpa Ed got drunk one night and was out Hot Rodding his 1951 Plymouth suburban and spun a bearing and locked the engine up. .... It happens. If the crank wont turn, you might want to start pulling the bearings.

  5. I recall a while back Sniper commented on an old mechanics trick of using brake fluid on valves to free them up this might work on the lifters. Do you know if the lifters are locked up or is it the valves? I think I would try to isolate the problem then move forward.

  6. I've stored a lot of enginss for several months, some for a year or two while working for my Dad. Removed from wrecks, overhauled or rebuilt and stored until sold or installed. Penetrating oils are not my first choice. They are thin and designed to seep, not stick in place. My goto was, and is, a fairly heavy weight engine oil. Back in the day, I'd use STP to make it stickier. pull the plugs put a small amount in each hole. Turn it over by hand and repeat. PUT THE PLUGS BACK IN. Also plug all openings that connect the outside to the inside. Intake, exhaust, oil fill, breather tube etc. You do not want atmospheric moisture to access the inside of the engine. Always worked for me. I have known of guys doing nothing and the engine was fine months later. Others found the rings stuck to the cylinder walls due to a fine film of rust. keep it dry, either wrap well or keep inside under cover.

  7. Not necessarily bad. Turning the tappet via the flats would give you an indication of any tappets being froze. You could also change the gap between tappet and valve on any that indicate the valves are closed using the adjusters. It would give you some working room to push up on those valves and maybe gain some crankshaft rotation.

  9. I have been a member of this great forum for 18 years. Unfortunately, as stated, I must leave. In fact, I ask the forum administrator to remove me as a member. I’m sure he will anyway as this is a highly political statement not allowed on the forum. I leave because I cannot understand how any self-respecting democratic country can elect Trump, a vile human being with so many disgusting qualities. A majority will disagree with me and to those who don’t, I wish you good luck in the storm ahead. You will need it.

  10. Over on the FxBO sites (FCBO for me), there are news and politics forums and they need no moderation. You're allowed to speak freely as long as it's in the appropriate threads. Yes, still some folks get worked up while others are all over the place and can't make a concise argument. We're slightly more locked down over here. As for the OP, not sure what "problems" leaving this site would solve. If Trudeau gets installed for another term as PM, I'm not going to sh*t the bed, because that's a Canuck problem. For the average little guy like myself, I followed General Flynn's advice and got involved with my local government. That's really the only way to make a difference. Besides that, have good relationships with your neighbors, be kind, and pick up litter. Oh, and stay off Fakebook 😄

  11. Without being politically affiliated with either party....you said that last time he was in office...but...here you are and you returned during his term in office......besides as a Canadian....you have no say either way either party in the course of our election process......get over yourself...but if you can't, farewell and enjoy your life.
