Sniper Posted December 24, 2024 Author Report Posted December 24, 2024 Well I pulled the trigger. Got me a supercharged XF. 35,000 miles. If you see an old fool flying down the highway with a stupid grin on his face it's probably me. 2 Quote

They've got stuff with HP, too. Our son was a service manager at an exotic car dealership in MI for a while, and although I've never been in the market, his unsolicited advice, prompted by sheer frustration, has been to stay away from British automobiles. You mean BIMMER....unless you are talking 2 wheels BEEMER = BMW MOTORCYCLE BIMMER = BMW CAR Having been in "that" comminuty in the past...they get uppity! 1 Quote

I didn't know they had different spellings based on number of wheels. Whatever the case, F both the cars and the bikes. The cars look like beavers these days (the animal).... Quote
Sniper Posted January 11 Author Report Posted January 11 You know, having driven a few turbo cars over the years, 89 Plymouth minivan, 22 Silverado and a 15 BMW 535i, I love the supercharger. Holy cow, talk about right now acceleration. Now I really know what they mean by turbo lag. Of course, there is the old saying that if you have turbo lag you aren't driving it right. Gonna have to get my HP fix Quote

Sniper Posted January 15 Author Report Posted January 15 You guys realize I also own a beamer and that's how I pronounce it and I don't care what the hoity-toity types have to say about it. 1 2 Quote
John-T-53 Posted January 16 Report Posted January 16 Upgrade to a Porsche and avoid the spelling and pronunciation kerfuffle! 😂 Let's face it, a 911 is every BMW guy's ultimate goal, haha. Quote
Sniper Posted January 16 Author Report Posted January 16 Like I told my son Porsches are expensive whether it's the girl or the car. 1 Quote
Ulu Posted Saturday at 10:45 AM Report Posted Saturday at 10:45 AM It’s kind of funny, but now that I’m old and I can actually afford fast cars and motorcycles, I just don’t want to race around anymore. I don’t want to be in a hurry. I want to be leisurely and take my own sweet time about everything, including driving. Where in my youth it was a luxury to have a hopped up V-8 and go fast, now it’s a luxury to take it easy. 2 Quote
Sniper Posted Saturday at 03:43 PM Author Report Posted Saturday at 03:43 PM I feel the need, the need for speed. Sorry I'll always be a lead foot. I put about 50k miles a year on the work truck, company owned, GPS tracked, so I abide. But when I am in my own ride it's A fiery horse with the speed of light, a cloud of dust, and a hearty "Hi-yo, Silver, away!" Now I need to practice the best launch techniques, lol. 3 Quote
Ulu Posted Monday at 06:22 AM Report Posted Monday at 06:22 AM Perhaps, we’ll start a small bail fund for your eventual incarceration. BTW, I never got locked up for my driving, but let’s just say that I am lucky to have just survived the hot rod antics of my youth. 1 2 Quote
oldodge41 Posted Tuesday at 04:02 PM Report Posted Tuesday at 04:02 PM I have been window shopping. Looking for what I would call a Personal Luxury, Sport Oriented ride. I know better, but can't seem to stop myself anyway. Obviously no sense asking for an intervention here, I see how that works out. LOL! I like some of the Genisis models, but like everything here in nowhere land, the closest dealer is 95 miles away. Locally, within 40 or 50 miles, I have BMW, Lexus, Mercedes, Audi, Cadillac and maybe a few others. Don't know if I'll buy anything but window, I mean internet, shopping is fun. I blame it all on @Sniper, sorry, but the missus wants to know who I get these crazy ideas from, and its your turn. LOL! Quote
