Ulu Posted April 17, 2023 Report Posted April 17, 2023 (edited) I saw these on the way home from the dentist in Fresno the other day, and both were for sale. I was tempted to go clean out my Ira account but I can’t live on air & gasoline fumes, which is what I’d be left with. Edited April 17, 2023 by Ulu 1 Quote
Ulu Posted April 19, 2023 Author Report Posted April 19, 2023 Crickets huh? I get the same reaction if I post a picture of a mopar over on the jalopy journal. I’m almost at the point where I have to delete old images in order to post a new image, So these will go bye-bye soon enough. Quote
kencombs Posted April 19, 2023 Report Posted April 19, 2023 I've given up on a 33/34 Ford. Wanted one for years, but the prices have become unreachable for me. Unless, I build one, and I've got way to many unfinished things already. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 19, 2023 Report Posted April 19, 2023 well, it is a Mopar forum....the Jalopy journal, over there the Mopar is so misunderstood by the gang as most they ever see of a Mopar are the tail lights opening in the distance....called loser syndrome....I'm going back to cutting my grass now....! Ulu Posted April 19, 2023 Author Report Posted April 19, 2023 (edited) I don’t ever remember anybody turning down a free hemi engine. For a Ford or their Chevy or whatever they owned. But like some of the cars I own and have owned, They are delightful to look at but not terrific cars to own. It is getting to the point that if you want a shiny car in California you better buy one that’s already been painted or take it out of state. Edited April 19, 2023 by Ulu Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted April 19, 2023 Report Posted April 19, 2023 sadly that ideology spreads from there....now we have three states wanting to ban gasoline mowers, weed eaters and lawn blowers....remember the good ole days when they just wanted to ban cars with gas tanks near the bumper.....I would likely get on board some of this hoopla BUT UNTIL it is a universal mandate that all nations all people...then no.....I am tired of paying through the nose for higher cost and inconvenience when other countries are free to cause the same actions I am forbidden....ok, enough of the soapbox time for me....I am going out to weed-eat now and follow up by blowing the area clear of debris. you know if all you folks would move..that would cripple this garbage but wait, don't move as you tend to drag your problems and agenda along with you.......lol Quote
Los_Control Posted April 19, 2023 Report Posted April 19, 2023 I always loved the old Fords .... Only replying to buy time .... I should be cutting my grass It has to be a truck to get me excited, I only get excited about trucks. I would pass up the cars above at a show, to go look at a truck sitting in the corner. In high school I drove a 1951 Ford flathead V8 truck. We all try to re-live our childhood .... There is nothing like the sound of a flathead V8. .... They are worthless engines .... boy they sure sound cool. @Plymouthy AdamsYou are correct ... just strange times we live in .... interesting to see who comes out on top. Quote
Dan Hiebert Posted April 20, 2023 Report Posted April 20, 2023 Those are nice shiny cars, but nothing stands out about them to me, and probably a good wager that they both have SBC power. Meh. Quote
Ulu Posted April 21, 2023 Author Report Posted April 21, 2023 (edited) I just remembered after reading this that I also owned two Ford pick up trucks: ‘57 and ‘59. I also owned a ‘59 Edsel. I actually bought the rusty ‘57 for the engine, And I bought the ‘59 to put it in. When I bought the Edsel I put the engine in there and sold both of the pick ups. The truth is, I wasn’t very impressed with the pickup frames. I thought the frame needed one more rivet on each side of the front crossmember because they all crack out right there. The door sill design was of course a rust trap. Regarding V-8 engines, they all sound broken to me. It’s the “bent” firing order. I think all the V-shaped engines sound weird. Of all I have owned, I like this one the best. Edited April 21, 2023 by Ulu 1 Quote
Dan Hiebert Posted April 26, 2023 Report Posted April 26, 2023 I'm certainly not a brand zealot, to me those cars in the OP's post just look like almost every other hot rod out there. We would never part with our D24, but the one vehicle I still kick myself in the heinie for getting rid of was an all original '52 Ford F3, and that was over 30 years ago. My wife called it our "Clampett-mobile". Quote
