Leo White Posted August 12, 2021 Report Posted August 12, 2021 My temp gage in my 52 cranbrook is not working and I can't seem to find any info on how to fix it. Has anyone had this issue or know how to fix it? Quote
Sniper Posted August 12, 2021 Report Posted August 12, 2021 Well, it is mechanical, not electric. It screws into the back of the head on the driver's side. There should be a metal tube that gores into the firewall and ultimately to the gauge. Quote

Sniper Posted August 12, 2021 Report Posted August 12, 2021 This is what it looks like from the gauge cluster, the tube with the coil spring goes directly to the port in the head. I think the line to the bottom of the engine block is you oil pressure gauge. Quote

There have been some that have fixed the tube, I am not one of those so I dunno. There are also companies than can repair them for you, again I haven;t dine that so no advice there. Quote

Thank you for your help as always it is much appreciated. This is my first vintage car and I am not a mechanic but I am trying to learn. Quote
JohnS48plm Posted August 13, 2021 Report Posted August 13, 2021 Check out the tech tips on this forum, they are listed in the header at the top of the page. There is a lot of good information there. Quote
Loren Posted August 13, 2021 Report Posted August 13, 2021 A good Speedometer shop can fix it fast and they will check the calibration too. This is one of those items I don't bother trying to fix myself. If in doubt...send it out. You'll be money ahead. Also with all the electronics these days, these guys are like shoe repair guys. If they are still in business they probably do good work and you need to support them. Quote

DJK Posted August 13, 2021 Report Posted August 13, 2021 I sent mine to Autoinstruments in Martinsville, Va. for repair. $235.00. Be sure you are not in a hurry to get it done unless they understand you need it promptly. Quote
