  1. You don't mention your trucks year. I bought a parts truck a few years ago. The mechanical cable worked a vacuum switch on the firewall. The rear axle was vacuum controlled. The speedometer also had a switch that compensated for the 2 speeds.
  2. Some are already gathered at the host hotel. Mark and I are doing a pretour through northern Ontario.
  3. Working out the final tour routes and confirming our stops. For me the highlight will be a private collection of some 30 Dodge and Fargo trucks ranging from '23 to '78. Lee
  4. Thanks andyd. Specifically the winder parts. Drivers side is stripped near the top of window travel and the glass is crooked.
  5. So my bad. 1940, Plymouth, P10, convertible. The doors I'm looking at are advertised as 1940 Plymouth coupe. No model listed. I've had the car about a month. So no haven't acquired a parts manual yet.
  6. Can someone confirm that the "internals" from a '40 coupe door will work in a '40 convertible door. I suspect they will. Lee
  7. Adding this on the truck forum in case some don't visit the car side. P-15 picnic is in the Niagara region of Ontario this year. Last year a couple of trucks joined us for a day. Good people lots of fun. Bring out the trucks Dodge and Fargo. Contact Mark or myself for more info.

  9. I've seen that on old farm tractors Merle. I have a John Deere model D that has a tap to controll water into the carb.
  10. My Google search also came up with that ebay listing. I don't think it's for a temp gauge. The car is a 40 Plymouth convertible. I'm thinking it's for the vacuum operated top.
  11. I bought a car over the weekend. It came with a bunch of spare parts. This was on a spare intake manifold.
  12. I know it's pricey but I liked the look of the alternator from Power Master. Looks like a generator charges like the alternator. Single charge wire no external voltage regulator. I didn't wire in the amp gauge but did add a volt gauge.
  13. I'm another that has experienced Pertronix problems. 2 different cars. Both ran fine when converted back to points.
  14. They scan your passport. They know when you crossed, where you crossed and can find out what it was you crossed in. I attended the P15 Picnic in Vermont in 2019. We broke down. I had to call home and have Dad rescue us. We trailered the car home. No issue for Dad crossing into N.Y. State with an empty trailer. A quick explanation at the border crossing back into Canada and we were on our way. Hopefully you enjoy the time in Chatham. I've done some of the work on your list to my truck. 1) Swap out rear end for a Jeep Cherokee I used '02 Grand Cherokee. 3.55 gears and disk brakes. 2) Put newer leaf springs from a Dakota or 1990s GM truck No issues for me with stock springs. 3) Get a Ram Man Disc brake kit I used Scarebird. I understand they are now closed 4) Go to Speedway and get a universal under floor master / clutch assembly Check out a Toyota master. 5) Rewire it and convert to 12 volt alternator I used a Powermaster Gen/Alt. Not cheep but I like the look better. 6) Newer bench seat or buckets In my future. 7) Mount retractable safety belts Yes. ? All new rubbers and glass too If required 9) Light truck radial tires One of the first things I did. I also switched out the column shift 3 speed and installed a T5 5 speed. When I had engine troubles I found and built up a 265" engine. Rebuilt the stock steering. Steering box, all tie rod ends and king pins. The truck appears original and drives at highway speed just fine. Stops with no issues. It does ride a little rough. (according to my wife) maybe a more modern seat would help. I'm also not happy with the parking brake but am working on fixing that this winter.
  16. So I removed the steering box to have it rebuilt and now can't remember how to reassemble the horn. I have a couple shop manuals but nothing to show w the parts fit together. Can someone provide a picture. Lee

  18. I had to add a 1/4" wide wheel spacer on my factory 16" rims.
  19. I have rewired both my Fargo and my wife's 53 Doge car. The cloth wire would be nice for originality but I didn't use it. I did use a black fiber loom from a company called Techspan. Run loose wire where you want it to go. From the dimmer switch to the head lights for instance. I ran wire loose for the entire truck then pulled it into the loom. Where one loom meets another and forms a Y I used black cloth hockey tape to cover up the joint and hold the two looms together. It is a large undertaking.   20. I'm looking into adding a leaf. The car bottoms out easily and damages the muffler. I'm using air shocks as a band aid. but would like a better fix.
  21. Yes basically. But a couple of years ago rear spring shackles were not the same as other US made cars.
  22. I would like to change the rear springs on my 53 Dodge Regent. Its a Canadian built car. Eaton Spring lists products for cars from this time period but not a Regent. I'm thinking Dodge built the car from components also used on other cars in production. Does anyone know which car has the same rear springs as my Regent? Thanks
  23. I put a T5 in my 49 Fargo. The later transmission from a S 10 had a slightly better/different gear ratios. 1352-145 1985 - 86 S10 2.5 L4, 2.8 V6 3.76 2.18 1.42 1.00 0.72 No debating they are not cheap or easy to find. A R10 conversion has less modifying to be done to install in our cars/trucks.
  24. We went away for 5 days for a anniversary / birthday getaway. Put on 850 miles. The only issue was a broken speedometer cable. Take it out enjoy.
