Spring Shackle bushings

I have decided to have my rear spring bushings, they are clunking and banging going around turns and it seems to be getting a bit worse. (place for Norm to say he warned ma about carrying all that stuff) I went to a spring place and they can't source them. So I checked the Espo page and they have them. Any other sources? I will likely have them done at the spring place, fellow said about an hour labor.

How many different sizes of these things are there? Could you cut down something else? Seems like there would be some cross-brand interchange, perhaps? I'd like to know too.

Hey......thanks Jerry. I'd never heard of those guys...but I haven't been up here real in NorCal very long.....I am going to contact them tomorrow cause the site says they carry spring isolators...And I need a couple pretty quick. Thanks for the heads up on those guys!

Those bushings are common on eBay, and I think you can get them from Roberts, Bernbaum, Steele Rubber, etc.

When I rebuilt the suspension on my '52 DeSoto, I took the springs into a local shop that does a lot of work on trucks. (The springs had these clamps around the leaves that I couldn't do myself). They had the bushings in stock, and I believe they were exactly the same as my P-15.

Check the NAPA auto parts web site, they show spring shackles and bushings for my 48 Dodge. Also many other parts including fuel pumps and water pumps.

They would be a standard in stock item at most spring shops. Just have the measurements handy.

No need to pay the rare parts premium.

Ask for the size, not the application.

When you ask for 48 Plymouth parts their eyes glaze over, but if you ask for such and such size, the say "ya, just a minute"

When I had my rear springs rebuilt for my '42 Dodge, (same bushings as yours) the guy at the spring shop took the measurements off the old ones. the bushings that fit that he found for me were actually for a utility trailer application.

I got my bushings from ESPO springs when I got my new rear springs. They are listed on their website at $1 ea. I think that's what I paid but I can't locate my invoice. John

The ESPO bushings are flexible rubber. I had to trim some material off the ends to make them work. I then pressed them in and ran an appropriate sized drill bit through so the bolt would fit.

I bought my shackles and rubber bushing from Mitchell before he went to E-bay sales...they were not expensive and am not sure if you could get them from him if contacted fmmopar I think is his e-bay name

I just looked online and found this source for poly bushing per size...I think Ihave a set of new ones yet at the house to measure..looks like a good product and price...

Hi Don,

why did you trim them? I installed new ones on my '46 the way they came, the excess that hangs out is the cushion for the shackle as they get sucked together.

Had to trim them as I am using custom home built shackles.
