Can someone tell me what chrome trim is used for the rear fender of a p15 4dr sedan as in the picture below (not the stone guards, the Strip) ie; what vehicle it is from.

Thanks

Pete

Look again guys. I believe that is a 46-48 Ford and would likely then be Ford trim.

Young Ed is correct. It is a 46-48 Ford sedan.

Bonus points if you know who owned it.

yes..but as he has a P15 and the trim strip is not common to the P15 in stock form odds are his picture was to show location only....I am also sure he knows it is not a P15 pictured..but the validity of his questions still stands...as for the P15 what trim was used...again the answer is D24..at least this is how I read his post...

I don't think the car even has trim in that location. The ford has a body line there and the appearance of trim is just that line showing.

I believe that is David Maxwells car before he traded up to a P15. I know he liked to photograph his P15 in front of that same building.

if the rear trim is a photo anomaly the car pictured above....it is a good one...fools my tired old eyes.....

Not sure on that. I googled for more images and lots of them do have trim there and also lots of them just show a body line. If that is really a David Maxwell car it probably had the trim.

I guess I am really out of the loop because I also don't have a clue about who David Maxwell is/was.

Guess he hasn't been on the forum in quite some time.

If I understand the question correctly; I assume the P15s were not available with a rear fender spear.  So if someone wanted to dress one up with one, they would not be able to find a trim spear with the same cross section as the rest of the trim on the car, simply because it doesn't exist.  But, since the rear fenders are the same across all 1948 Chrysler products, one could either use fenders from Dodge, Desoto, or Chrysler, and the spears from any of those cars.  Or - drill holes to mount said trim in the original fenders.  Would probably boil down to good old personal preference.  We'd have to see the trim Seaside Pete is actually referencing to know which car it came off of originally, but if he is actually referencing the photo, that is indeed a molded feature in the fender, not a piece of trim.

I've never read a better "ops" than plymouthy's!  Yet I must say, I'm not surprised that he did not recognize a nice Ford. LOL

Sorry guys, I knew it was a ford. I suppose I should have searched out a P15. I was only using that picture to show the part I was looking for as Plymouthy suggested. I'll try again.

Plymouthy, is that a trim from the REAR fender on a D24?

Thanks

Pete

Thanks for that Don. Just looked at some images on google, and noticed 4 doors with the trim piece and coupes. Do you know if either would fit my p!5?

I do not know if the Dodge trim will fit on a Plymouth. You might investigate 1941 Plymouth fenders. They are a bit fancier than the P-15 fenders and I believe they are a direct bolt on.

the D24 fender trim will fit as the dealers did install them as an added selling feature though their position is not 100% exact as that of the Dodge due to fender length........as for the 41 fenders, yes, got to love the speed lines but they need to be at all for corners for the correct look....the bumper flares make a big difference in the overall scheme also..

Isn't the Town Sedan the one with the short wheelbase and suicide rear doors? I really like them.
