I have a 49 B1C, runs but needs motor rebuild. I have the opportunity to buy a 40 car 218 that is rebuilt worth the money. Would like to know if the 40 car moter will work in my 49 B1C? thanks for any help.

You will be sacrificing some power by using the smaller Ply engine...they don't have a lot to start with so where is your comfort zone?

The Ply engine might be "worth the money" but is it a good value?.....

all US dodge car for 1940 carried a D14 stamp...I would however question that T for a I instead...the Roman number one is a capital block style I (one) and your bottom cross could be a light stamping...it should be D14-36159   and engine number 1001 is first engine for D14 series..and yes is a 218

I'd ask when was it rebuilt, if it was just at some point during the cars life, it's likely no better then what you have now. These engines are bad for seizing rings and valves, so it might need work regardless if it's been sitting awhile.

That engine should work just fine. Many trucks running around with car engines.

Yup mine's one of them. P23 engine. For the small trucks I believe they were the same or quite similar. I don't think mopar started with the really HD stuff until you get into the larger trucks.
