Ulu Posted August 17, 2015 Report Posted August 17, 2015 ...well I did, but it was spent recycling heavy stuff. Anyhow, this is a photo of a rusty old Dodge (I believe,) from last year's vacation. Quote
Ulu Posted August 17, 2015 Author Report Posted August 17, 2015 More rust. Probably not Mopar related at all... Quote
Ulu Posted August 17, 2015 Author Report Posted August 17, 2015 (edited) More of last year's vacation... Eldest granddaughter gets her first trout & first ride on the Nomad. Yours truly, at the helm of a rented boat. I think I just swallowed a mosquito in that photo. Edited August 17, 2015 by Ulu 2 Quote
Ulu Posted August 17, 2015 Author Report Posted August 17, 2015 Pretty sure this one was a Dodge. (DodgeBros?) Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 17, 2015 Report Posted August 17, 2015 vacation...????? since I retired I have not had a vacation, any accruement of annual leave, no such thing as sick leave, no ATO's no CTO's and definitely no paid holidays...no safety days and no more paid time to go for a health walk....retirement is not what it is cracked up to be... Ulu Posted August 18, 2015 Author Report Posted August 18, 2015 My wife will retire after next school year, but I'm still years from retirement here. Our house & property will be paid off in one more year, & I'll be 62 in 18 mos, so in theory I could retire soon. But we want the newbie engineers at work to be able to keep the company going. The senior engineers have all planned to put off retirement until we all feel it's "the right time" for them to fly solo. The confidence of our clients is all important, so that has to be there too. It might be about 2020 before I go on the 24/7/365 retirement vacation. 1 Quote
Ulu Posted August 18, 2015 Author Report Posted August 18, 2015 (edited) More rusty reminders of the past... A LeRoi tractor, whom I though only made compressors... Maybe a GM truck? & That's the interior of the first white Dodge truck I posted. Ohhh..grilles of a bygone era of streamline deco art. Back of the white Dodge. Edited August 18, 2015 by Ulu Quote
Ulu Posted August 18, 2015 Author Report Posted August 18, 2015 More from last year's vacation, old trucks, various catterpiggles, and one stout steering box! Quote
plymouthcranbrook Posted August 18, 2015 Report Posted August 18, 2015 i gave up the daily grind at the end of 2012. Best move I ever made. No more weekends or special vacations. No more Mondays either. On balance, I am ahead. Quote
Niel Hoback Posted August 18, 2015 Report Posted August 18, 2015 On permanent vacation since 2002. Every day is Saturday. Quote
1940plymouth Posted August 18, 2015 Report Posted August 18, 2015 (edited) Love the photos of the old rusted "stuff" I retired in '03, ride shot gun during the winter months in a 1995 Oshkosh as wingman Edited August 18, 2015 by 1940plymouth 1 Quote
Young Ed Posted August 18, 2015 Report Posted August 18, 2015 The one looks like a Chrysler ribbon logo belongs on the grill. There's one truck that looks like a 41 Plymouth or a fargo. This stuff isn't getting crushed I hope! Quote
40plyrod Posted August 18, 2015 Report Posted August 18, 2015 More rust. Probably not Mopar related at all... Looks like Chrysler to me. Quote
Ulu Posted August 18, 2015 Author Report Posted August 18, 2015 I couldn't tell what a lot of this stuff was. It's all at the Casa de Fruita on highway 152. Many are donations to their display, and there's various old stationary machines too. Anyhow, I'm glad you like rust. There was a goodly supply of it. Quote
Ulu Posted August 19, 2015 Author Report Posted August 19, 2015 (edited) I don't have a clue about this first engine. Top cover plate of a gearbox. Another old rusty shot of the engine. . . check out the bullgear. Edited August 19, 2015 by Ulu Quote
Ulu Posted August 21, 2015 Author Report Posted August 21, 2015 The one looks like a Chrysler ribbon logo belongs on the grill. There's one truck that looks like a 41 Plymouth or a fargo. This stuff isn't getting crushed I hope! You are absolutely right. I can see the logo on a similar Chrysler & they match exactly. Dunno nuthin' 'bout Fargos.... Quote
Ulu Posted August 22, 2015 Author Report Posted August 22, 2015 One of my favorite pics of the Casa de Fruita "collection" Closer up Rolling tugboat Quote
Ulu Posted August 22, 2015 Author Report Posted August 22, 2015 . . . ride shot gun during the winter months in a 1995 Oshkosh as wingman Snow is my eternal enemy and ice is its minion. But I had to move it with a shovel and a chopper. Often an axe. I retired from that fight 40 years ago. But that big snowblower looks like fun to run. Quote
Dave72dt Posted August 23, 2015 Report Posted August 23, 2015 The item in the last pic, post # 14 is a power hacksaw, forerunner of the bandsaw and chop saw. Extremely slow compared to modern equipment, they were still faster and more accurate than human powered hacksaws on the larger and thicker pieces. Quote
Ulu Posted August 23, 2015 Author Report Posted August 23, 2015 We had a Navy surplus one like that but larger, at the hill AFB hobby shop. I cut all the parts for my engine hoist on it. There was lots of old stationary stuff like the saw there. Many crawlers too... A few big implements And peacocks galore. Quote

Don Coatney Posted August 26, 2015 Report Posted August 26, 2015 I wish my wallet could afford an International truck from the 1940's, I think the styling is fantastic I live just a few miles from the old IH manufacturing plant. When I moved here I fully expected to see a lot of old IH trucks in the area but I have yet to see any. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted August 26, 2015 Report Posted August 26, 2015 saw a '41 K1 just a few minutes ago while out in the barn working today...added another loft section to mainly store my bumpers...love the hood on that truck with the double roll... Quote
