bwylie7 Posted May 2, 2015 Report Posted May 2, 2015 went and looked at another Cranbrook today and figured what the heck lets load it on the trailer. drove it almost a block to get from where it was to my truck and trailer. all new brakes and lines but they didn't work, I suspect no fluid but haven't looked yet. purrs like a kitten and didnt smoke a lick. body not as good of shape as my other Cranbrook but there are lots of parts and I can see where things belong on the other one that I had no idea where they went. I broke one of my rules on the first car and that is don't buy an incomplete/torn apart car. plan is to put both on road and make twins. Quote
jcmiller Posted May 3, 2015 Report Posted May 3, 2015 I just told mine I'm thinking about buying a transmission. I like to test the waters first. Quote
vht Posted May 3, 2015 Report Posted May 3, 2015 Wait and tell her later that a car is connected to it. 2 Quote
Old School Posted May 3, 2015 Report Posted May 3, 2015 (edited) I just told mine I'm thinking about buying a transmission. I like to test the waters first. Just be careful when your wife tells you that she is buying a new lamp for the living room. Edited May 3, 2015 by Old School 1 Quote

austinsailor Posted May 3, 2015 Report Posted May 3, 2015 A friend was telling me I needed to get a Model T like he had. My wife heard him and said "Steve, he doesn't need to be dragging home a Model T". Steve said "Nellie, would you rather have him drag home a Model T or a model Double D?" Nellie said " I guess it would be ok if he wanted one". Quote
nonstop Posted May 3, 2015 Report Posted May 3, 2015 Mother's Day is coming up - tell her it was going to be her gift! Then you can guilt her when she does not like it! Quote
pflaming Posted May 3, 2015 Report Posted May 3, 2015 Ever since I told the misses that the truck was going to our daughter, the criticism has subsided. Got a daughter or grand daughter?? Nice looking car. Quote
Plymouthy Adams Posted May 4, 2015 Report Posted May 4, 2015 I have found it always best to take the wife when looking at the possibility of dragging in a new car...who better to stand by and fan the gnats and mosquitos from your face while you go over the body and trim closely so to make a fair assessment? BobT-47P15 Posted May 4, 2015 Report Posted May 4, 2015 Looks like a pretty complete car. Yes.....unless you are an old hand with these cars, I think there would be lots of pieces you'd wonder about. Quote
RobertKB Posted May 5, 2015 Report Posted May 5, 2015 Always good to see another '53. Although they are great cars, they are under appreciated! 1 Quote
BobT-47P15 Posted May 5, 2015 Report Posted May 5, 2015 In my humble opinion..........there quite a few real "homely" 52 and 53 Plymouths. Better if they look like Robert's with two tone paint and some trim. Quote
Labrauer Posted May 5, 2015 Report Posted May 5, 2015 Heck when I bought my 48 Plymouth Sedan I had to face the heat from the wife saying I didn't need another old car. She had no idea that I purchased it until I had it home sitting in the drive way. She frowned and shook her head in disbelief that I went and bought another old 48. To my defense I told her that it was for her to drive as it had a back seat for the grand kids to ride without being in the front seat like they have to ride in the coupe. After a day or so she was back to normal but now I have to keep up making excuses of why she can't sell it. Women what would we do without them? Well I could think of 100 things and all involve old cars.. Quote
Ulu Posted May 7, 2015 Report Posted May 7, 2015 I used to wish that my wife took an interest in my old cars. Nowadays I'm just grateful that she ignores it all and lets me spend whatever I want on them. (Which is only fair, since I make lots more money than she does. ) That's not to say that I spend a fortune. I'm pretty frugal most times. But I don't have to justify what I spend, and she doesn't even ask. Quote
