MATT47025 Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 So this is the truck I looked at earlier today. The owners said it was a '49 but do not have a title. The door plate reads B-2-B (see photo) So its a half ton but is it a '49? What do you think the value is (not running). Let me know what you think. Thanks ! 2 Quote
Fowl Jeff Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 For comparison, I bought one that appears to be in similar shape that had a title and was running. I paid $1,800. 1 Quote
Todd B Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 I believe it is a 1950. I would not pay more than $700, but I know every area is different. 1 Quote
JBNeal Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 1950 1/2 ton with pin-striping & no title...getting a title can run upwards of 500 depending on paperwork & govt employee aptitude...if the motor/transmission are stuck/shot, I would be hard pressed to throw more than 750 at it cuz of all the work it would need to make it road-worthy...but that's like my opinion, mannn Quote
Phil363 Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 (edited) Hope this helps: It is a 1950 Dodge B-2-B that was built in Detroit, MI. I checked Serial Number at the link below: http://www.t137.com/registry/help/decode.php As for Price in the Old Car Report Guide that came out last Oct. DODGE 1950-52 1/2-Ton, 108" wb Pickup (PU) CAT 6: $840 CAT 5: $2,520 CAT 4: $4,200 CAT 3: $9,450 CAT 2: $14,700 CAT 1: $21,000 4) GOOD: A drivable vehicle needing no, or only minor work to be functional. Also, a deteriorated restoration or a poor amateur restoration. All components may need restoration to be “excellent,” but the vehicle is mostly usable “as is.” This is a driver. It may be in the process of restoration or its owner may have big plans, but even from 20 feet away, there is no doubt that it needs a lot of help. 5) RESTORABLE: Needs complete restoration of body, chassis and interior. May or may not be running, but isn’t weathered, wrecked and/or stripped to the point of being useful only for parts. This car needs everything. It may not be operable, but it is essentially all there and has only minor surface rust, if any rust at all. While presenting a real challenge to the restorer, it won’t have him doing a lot of chasing for missing parts. 6) PARTS CAR: May or may not be running, but is weathered, wrecked and/or stripped to the point of being useful primarily for parts. This is an incomplete or greatly deteriorated, perhaps rusty vehicle that has value only as a parts donor for other restoration projects. Without seeing more photos ... I think this vehicle is greater than a 5 but not yet a 6. Phil Edited December 12, 2014 by Phil363 Quote

B1B Keven Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 Interesting truck. Must have an earlier model transmission. Gear lever is straight and has the parking brake on the floor. If the floor of the cab floor and behind the front wheels aren't rusty, I'd say it's worth up to a grand. I does have nice grill bars and an optional rear bumper. Quote
Reg Evans Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 Do I see grass growing up through the running boards ? Quote
Brent B3B Posted December 12, 2014 Report Posted December 12, 2014 Do I see grass growing up through the running boards ? that could be a negotiation point for the buyer hope the motor turns over........ by hand at least? Quote
48Dodger Posted December 14, 2014 Report Posted December 14, 2014 Bet its a 1949 with a 1950 sell date giving it a 50 door plate. The E-brake is on the floor(48-50)....the cab is a 48-50, wipers pivot points are more to the center, as opposed to 51-53 having the wiper pivot points more to the side. All stainless steel grille bars (standard for 48-50) as opposed a top stainless grille bar and painted for the rest (standard 1950).....I'm confused about the vented windows because I've only seen standard cab (3 window no vent) or deluxe cab (5 window, vented)...this is a 3 window. 48D Quote

JBNeal Posted December 18, 2014 Report Posted December 18, 2014 here's a tip: verify the engine year & size before ya start getting parts for it...that way ya don't have parts from the head gasket set that don't fit 1 Quote
